@Sparky : I may have a new idea for the OP wallcrawl, but I can't test it. First, unmorph through the outer boundary, near a side wall (next to the ET). Next, stick to the side wall of the inner boundary, morph and boost a decent amount of times against the wall. Then unmorph and you will (hopefully) shoot into the room. This technique (told by LeCoureur) worked for me when I was trying to get the PB expansion in magma pool (where there is absolutely no slant and which is perfectly box-shaped). I'm not sure of how many times you have to boost and if it will work for you, but it's worth giving it a shot. Good luck.
also, has anyone confirmed if you can kill mp form 2 in three rounds without thermal visor? i don't see why not, but i'm gonna have to make sure before next segment.
I was only just able to test on PAL, but it should be good enough:
I killed him in 6 pools without thermal. If the 4 non thermal pools would have been perfect, i would have got the 5 pool battle. Since a PAL 5 pool battle seems harder than a NTSC 3 pool battle (on NTSC you usually need just a bit of the 4th pool without the "go in and out of a pool", while on PAL you normally need 7 (as seen on pirate109´s 1:15) and can cut it to 5 pools) i think it is possible to beat him in 3 pools without thermal.
sorry for taking forever, but some combination of i don't like this part, way too busy, and technical difficulties aren't making this easy. in short: my wii is broken and so progress must be postponed until i can conjure up my cube from i'm not sure where.
actually i performed surgery on my wii this morning and it appears to work better now. in any case, got this:
getting up thermal visor room was really bad, and i accidentally (well purposely, but i got confused i guess) unmorphed in the powerbomb alcove. despite that though, there were a bunch of tiny things that went really well. i expected to lose about 10 seconds here compared to the test run and only lost 8.5, so i guess i'm still on track.
also worth noting that though what i do after the pb in phen edge looks really slow, you actually lose very little (if any) time at all. that door takes ages to load so you have plenty of time to kill the pirate.
oops, forgot to record this in my previous post in case i forget: in the elevator room, phen side, you can get to the ice door quicker by jumping onto the rock directly behind you, and ghettoing off it's side onto the spider track next to the door, turning around in mid-air. it's really hard though.
bspark: yeah that 3bj is something i'd probably never think of. i believe trebor came up with it during his 22% run.
ark: we are all of us living in the shadow of paraxade. =p
Good stuff sparky, you always make the hard stuff look so easy. Now you need to come perform surgery on my wii cause when i did a couple months ago it hasn't been able to power up since.
got paid this morning, so i went out and got a properly functioning wii. speedrunning is much more reasonable when the game doesn't randomly freeze on you.
not much to say about this one. there weren't any harder but faster tricks this time that i chose to ignore (afaik). tallon canyon after lifegiver is really annoying because unless you're perfectly centered, the game thinks you want to go up the half pipe and stops your momentum. then i missed the scan point at the end, but oh well.
once again amazing sparky. I love the delayed "Door cannot be opened with that weapon" at 3:39, you were two rooms past that room and i'm not sure you shot the door with the wrong weapon in the first place lol
