Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
Toozin, do you ever read the screen-names of people you argue against? Just a thought.
And actually, I'm gonna have to step in and say Metroid Fusion's design had been pretty excellent, imo. It really sucks that once you enter the appropriate sector, you're locked in until the end of the mission, but I recently tried entering other sectors and discovered they're usually open at the end of each mission. The main problem is you can't do anything in those sectors really, because the level design is so tightened up. I tried to get Varia from ARC last night only to discover the knockback damage from the cold literally prevented you from breaking through speedbooster blocks needed to continue.
I personally don't even mind the multi-level locks they used, even though I've complained about it in another game. At least those match the story. It's really only the times Adam locks you into a sector (or in one case, locks you in the nav room itself) that bug me. I also kind of dislike the cocoons placed to block morph ball tunnels, too.
The biggest issue I have about Fusion I'm surprised hasn't even been mentioned: All but one bit of dialogue in the game are completely unskippable, the one bit being the secret message that's only even more infuriating if you're skilled enough to find. In my first couple playthroughs, this had been fine, I had no intention of skipping the dialogue in the first place. But after the 239th or so run through, I have to admit, it starts to grind my gears a little. >_>
But regardless, I have to say overall, it's a good game if you don't have grand expectations of being a great space explorer. -> -> -> ->
