Also, I'm bad at base advice and forgot: Get an Alien Containment going as soon as you can. As well as another General Stores and Living Quarters. You'll need the living space for more soldiers scientists and engineers.
As long as you have enough ammo weapons come pre-loaded so having 2 extra clips should be plenty.
It'll be an honor to fight alongside you and die in the most insane way possible! (And gender is only cosmetic other than when they die they'll have female screams)
Oh boy, a night mission as his first mission ever? Now I know I'm doomed.
You can click on someone else to gain control of them if you want. Probably best to just click on each one and see what it does since I'm pretty sure none of them (other than the Abort Mission and End Turn which are on the far right) will doing anything too bad.
The "?" is settings, the plane shaped thing over an arrow is the Bug out button, anyone outside the Skyranger or green tiled floor you'll see in alien bases will be left to die and the mission will end.
The ladder type thing is your Z-level one goes up one goes down, you can figure out which pretty easily, you'll need it now and then for aliens at varying elevations. The buttons next to that with dues and up/down arrows can move dudes up and down lifts.
I had to check my image in the first post to double check what each button is.
Two on the far left are for moving your guys up and down a floor but they won't be used much right now. Next two are to move the viewing plane up and down a level (4 levels total). Next ones are the map and the crouch button, while the two in the middle are inventory and centering the view on the current player. Pretty sure we've covered the rest.
I clicked the crouch button and a green thing almost hit tbob. it blew up the grass one diagonal away.
That's Reaction Fire, if an enemy can see you and you take any action in front of them they may get to shoot at you! This works for you as well as long as your dudes have enough TUs at the end of their turn to fire a snapshot.
