Retrospecting over the show, it's definitely been something special. I nearly skipped watching anime altogether while it was on (helped by that I started with, like, 18 episodes), but I've had no real problems going back to it. It's something else entirely, yes, but it's not like I'll stop enjoying something I enjoyed before just because I watched this.

Yeah I'm not trying to bad-mouth anime or anything like that. A decent metaphor I can think of is this: Watching anime for me was like eating burger king. I was never much of a burger person, but burger king's burgers seemed to be good and I liked them. But then here comes FiM, and it's like the Brunos in comparison (or insert some other good resturant that serves good burgers). After having a totally awesome burger its hard to go back to just eating the meh burgers you get from burger king. Again, I'm not bad mouthing anime, it's just I think MLP really spoiled me in a way that anime can't. Over time and after not watching MLP for awhile I might get back into it, but I honestly can't see that happening for a long time.

A good example would be to watch Twilight's face while she's trying to give a speech. Her facial expressions are very vivid, ear movements, the eyes, mouth, etc. But with anime you can watch literally an entire episode and the amount of facial expressions won't even come close to that minute or so. It's not because anime is bad, it's just a lot more limited than what they can do with this show, especially since it's made in flash and stuff.

And now for something unrelated to the above. The guy below bought something like 400 blind bags. H sells them to bronies on ponychan, but he decided to stop the business after this final order. I really really really hate the fact that they don't sell these blind bags in the US because I really really want the sparkle ones. The local Kmart has NO pony merchandise that I've seen either, Toys R Us is extremely limited, and since I don't have my drivers license yet I can't drive anywhere else.

Ugh, yeah, If you're looking for a toy beyond, Barbie or something don't bother with Toys R Us, anything you'd actually want is only stocked in incredibly small quantities. Bitches had, like, no Transformers last time I went looking for some and it was still pretty soon after The first Bay movie and I'm pretty sure Animated was still going so what the fuck.

It's really not though, or at least it doesn't have to be. It's more a product of animators being unwilling to explore within the style than any inherent limits. Fucking Tom & Jerry did expressions better and it was all done by hand. Look at some old Loony Tunes/Merrie Melodies stuff and tell me a professional animator with access to today's tools can't do similar things because they are more limited.

Sure there's a difference between a 6-8 minute short and a 20-30 minute episode of a given show, but budgets are bigger and there are tools available to reduce at least some of the labor, more modern shows like Adventure Time, Rocko's Modern Life, the DC comics animated shows all manged to do interesting things with their characters. Transformers Animated did some good stuff too and they were working with robots.

It's not that they can't do better, it's that they won't. I know a lot of what established the style came out of cost cutting measures and what not, but it really just seems lazy now.

No, it's because you're watching the wrong animes. It's not like you can magically do things in Flash that you can't do in any other medium.

Also, girl I know had a bunch of ponies which I discovered when I was at the place she lives since she lives with other friend of mine that I was visiting (she wasn't there, but that's another story). She had the whole main cast except for Twilight, plus some other ponies (I assume they were bought in packs containing, like, main cast + other pony), including Cherilee. They looked good, definitely better than the blind bag ones, and looking around on The Internet (by which I mean Hasbro's home page, if they were the same ones, which they probably were) makes it seem that they're not that expensive. And since the packaging had writing in Swedish, they'll definitely be available over here at some point. Definitely picking up at the very least a Rainbow Dash, and probably a Pinkie Pie, when that happens. Other ponies will be on a "perhaps, if I have the cash" basis. Then I guess I'll ask her to do with mine what she had done with hers. By which I mean stylized the hair of them to be more accurate. And painting freckles on Applejack.

Post a right anime.

Panty and Stocking are the only animes I can think of that come close to expressions and stuff. Panty and stocking though was supposed to be based on more western style animation (power puff girls specifically, go figure).

the other animes I've seen that I really liked are mushishi, baccano, rozen maiden, evangelion, and I know theres another one but I can't remember it right now for some reason.

wow I wonder if she's the one posting some of the guides on ponychan then. Theres lots of great guides on how to style the hair correctly and stuff, making Rarity look like Rarity, etc. If you want any I can post them all.

I was talking to my friend that happens to be a girl that likes the show, and I mentioned that I really wanted to buy some of the dolls. My birthday is next week though and she pretty much said "don't buy any until after your birthday" so hopefully that means she was telling me that she bought me ponies.

One Piece tends to have absolutely fantastic expressions. Though even more so in the manga.

Highly unlikely that it's her, but post a picture or two and I'll tell you if it is.

they don't show themselves in the guides and stuff. Should ask her if she posts with a trip though lol

ya know, I just thought of something. If you watch the first two episodes of MLP backwards, it's about a younger sibling god that turns evil because of the elements of harmony, and then puts herself back on the moon, and then Twilight looses each of her friends and it ends with her spending the rest of her life studying in Canterlot with Celestia controlling the sun and moon
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Series finale will be just that.

Gotta make sure it leaves a gaping hole when it goes out.

If you watch Applebuck Season backwards, it's about a pony who gets more sane by putting apples back on trees and undoes assorted other problems.

If you watch The Best Night Ever backwards, it's about six ponies who were sitting in a donut shop and then decided it was time to fix a party that had been destroyed.

And then Twilight turned some big horses into mice.

on an unrelated note, oh god, can't unhear this:

"PO-NEEEEEEEEEEEE, PONY, PO-NEEEEEEEEEE, PONY"
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Suited for Success backwards tells the touching tale of a pony who after a successful fashion show, breaks down under the pressure of living up to the standard she set for herself, leading to a terrible showing leading to even further stress. The show then goes on to show the steady decline and recovery of the pony as she strives to please her friends and ultimately realizes, with a little help from her friends, that she had the magic all along and just needed to go back to making nice things for others instead of trying to one up herself.

Or was that forwards. Shit.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It seems Over a Barrel ends up a story about a tree being run out of town on a rail over a pie dispute. Not sure what the tree did but there you go.

So since I was feeling sick and crappy, I decided to sit down and waste 5 hours creating a huge pony musical archive. I went through and manually edited the tags of each mp3 (205 songs total) so that the artist would be the person's youtube username, as well as fixing a bunch of the names and tags.

here's the thread I posted on the MMO's forums that you guys should check out if you want to download it (it's 745MB, same size as a 1080p episode). I also describe it a lot better and stuff there: http://mlponline.freeforums.org/my-mlp-music-archive-t134.html

tons of great music though, lots of different Genres. At the very least check out "Chain Algorithm" and "Not a clever pony", both of their stuff is amazing and not remixes. Chain Algorithm is actually making the music for the MMO so that's pretty neat.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'll have to check that out if only for Not a clever pony, he's pretty good. Prob gonna take a while to sift through.

Posting some things I thought were neat since I'm supposed to be doing school work right now but this is more fun.

The chalk picture says "Hello Toronto! This is what I do for a living. If you like it, reach into your pockets and donate your loonies and toonies. If you dont like it, reach into the pockets of the person beside you and donate their loonie's and toonies! hehehe!"

I like the two chalk pictures because the guy who made the chalk drawing doesn't have a camera so the people who took the pictures and uploaded them are just random pony fans that happened to see him working on it. Neat stuff.

One shall stand, one shall ball.
Man what is going on with all those lines in the fourth one?

I like that Canterlot, also all the Rarity.
