You dash sideways, and then you push down R and keep holding L and R. No clue how they work in Prime 1, but that's how you do them in Prime 2. You could try the dash to get the ammo tank early as practice, it's a pretty easy one. Plus you dash in a good direction for it.

I've been stuck on doing the dash off the War Wasp hive in the very beginning of a 100% run.  I can sometimes get the dash to the first ledge I have to get up to, but then when I try to get the dash to the second ledge I'm very far off every time.  I do get up on the slope that you can walk on but I can't dash off it to the ledge, like at all.

It works exactly the same in Prime 1, now that I know how to do it in Prime 2, but in Prime 1 when you dash you fly a lot further since dashing in that game is so broken.
I can't get that dash either honestly.

Anyways, there's a crash here. I did the sandigger wallcrawl in a 100% test practice run so I've never entered this room before in this file, and now I'm going through it backwards during cleanup. Any explanations?

Because Echoes.
Since you say you did a test-practice run of 100%, but you also can't do that dash off the Wasp hive, I assume you just do it the intended way?  The intended way isn't slow, but the dashes take like 4 seconds if you can actually do them so... yeah.

In my oppinion hive dash is way easier than GA... >_>
He's talking about the hive in temple grounds at the start of 100%, in Sacred Path... not the actual hive dash

oh yeah that one. not that difficult; saves about 8.5 secs if you do it the way miles did it in his 14% cancelled segmented run and about 9.5 if you do it the way i did it in my 100% testrun (i spon in midair to lockonto the portal quicker)

so its not necessary but a nice timesave if youre consistent with it. not worth resetting over.

For the life of me hive dash is the only trick that I have never been able to do and before my wii broke I had GA consistent enough to at least use it in my segmented runs. Is there just something I'm missing with hive dash? Because honestly hours of my life have been wasted on that damn dash >.<

I feel the same about GA, was going for hive dash the first time and got it 4th try. Afterwards i got it like 4 times in a row than i failed it a couple times and stopped doing it.
I can easily get the dash off the Wasp Hive itself; It's the dash off the incline to the door that's hard to get.  Never got it once.

So what exactly happens in the ISL SW that drops you back into the map behind the translator door?  Is this what's called a "ceiling warp" or whatever?  Also, how am I suppose to do it properly, because every time I have tried I just fall down.  I shoot the door, walk up and touch it then morph, but I never land inside a room.  Maybe I'm not up high enough?

EDIT: It's not by the translator I don't think;  It's the one just after you get past the beginning of the ILS and do the dash off the scan post, then drop into the room to the left.
Pretty sure you just let the room load around you. And you don't need to morph there, you can just stay standing.
So every time other people morph it's just to do movements faster?  I thought you had to morph...

The method miles (most runners i think, in general, myself included) uses to get back in bounds is basically just getting into the aether, then getting near the door so it loads around him (rooms load when you either hit the invisible loading trigger, or shoot the door and get close to it).

To drop through a ceiling is called a "ceiling warp". Essentially if you're trying to ceiling warp into Room A, you have to first make sure the game is transitioned on Room B (aka look at the minimap; the game should be highlighting Room B). Then get on some sticky surface in Room A (preferably slant) and morph. A consistentish method is to bomb yourself in place, then after you land on the sticky surface, unmorph and your vertical velocity from the bomb jump will carry into the unmorph, forcing you through the ceiling. After you get back in bounds, make sure you touch the door to transition the game to Room A properly.
So room B is the big room with the scan post and the lifting box thing in your analogy, correct?  So to ceiling warp into room A I have the minimap tell me I'm in room B while standing on a sticky surface on top of room A.

Thanks, I'll try both of these techniques.
You can ceiling warp there, but getting the room to load around you is a lot easier. And I'm pretty sure it's faster. The morph is mostly to save time, but you can also use it to help you get to the right height.

And yeah, I also use the method Miles and Kirby use. Also, Kirby's horrible at this game. He doesn't even have sub 1:10. Don't listen to anything he says until he gets that.
I heard he also hasn't done low% yet.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
well, he's a kirby and kirbys are lazy.
Is it possible to do the current any% route without doing the early PB sw?  Cause that tree ghetto is not fun.
Early PBs aren't necessary. They just speed up the DS1 fight.
You should watch my beginner's route video then :P

I'm pretty sure it notes that you don't need the early PB to follow the general route (though it helps a LOT and does save a big chunk of time, not just at DS1). The important thing to remember is that because you don't have an early PB until PB guardian, after you get gravity boost, you need to skip alpha blogg then reload the room with alpha blogg and use the spider track on the other side with the portal (can't use the portal by the lower torvus key since the door to PB guardian has a PB lock).
I finished a few SS runs before I learned that SW. Because yeah, learning that ghetto is a pain. It's a lot easier when you remember to jump late and aim for the very left of the rock, though.
Can anyone give me any advice for this dash?  It seems like this dash is much much harder than the one needed for grand abyss.  Am I supposed to bend the dash?  I can't really tell.  I swear even times when I get what seems to be a floaty dash I still miss it.
