I have just went to change the arm canon for the gravity suit to notice that I have blended the tones on the canon and there are grey as well as white on it and the white isn't strikiing so I blame the canon looking like that on the rubbish J-PEG picture as it looks fine whilst playing :P
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Lol. Good. Now you just need to work on that background.
the bakcground?? in the landing site u mean? if so it'll be quite hard because anytime I try to edit it, it ends up screwing up due to scolling sky and nothing works when I try to stop the sky scrolling so I have decided to leave it lol :P
Fear Me! (Or else...)
No, I mean all those white backgrounds you had. They were an eyesore, remember? It's hard to look at that much white for any length of time lol.

Btw, in case anyone's still checking this forum thread, I've finished my training hack. You can find the download for the patch at http://sites.google.com/site/smhackteam/
Enjoy!

I didn't have much white in the backgrounds  :-s

Firstly would you mind not double posting and secondly not to be mean but I would prefer it if you wouldn't post links for YOUR hack on this thread as this is for my current hack and anything related to YOUR hack should be kept in your own thread.

Sorry. Thought it would help you out a bit if you needed it. And earlier, we had mentioned about your screenshots that there was too much white. I was bringing that up again. That's all.

no I know don't worry and there wasn't that much white to be fair :)
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Ok. It just looked light-colored to me.

Personally I would appreciate if you guys could keep these sorts of posts in personal messages between each other; that way, when I'm checking what's new in here, it's just content updates and not technical discussion.

No Problem and on that topic I'll have new content up soon :)

*EDIT*

Heres a couple of screenshots of the opening rooms

Fear Me! (Or else...)
Nice... although it does look a little too much of one color. Add just a little variation and detail to that, and it'll be fine.

I'm guessing you mean the blue??

It only seems like that as the ground is blue but you have to remember that you won't see all that on camera at the same time :)

I'm going to be honest.
This hack got problems.
1. Horrible eye hurting pallet. I have no idea how you can NOT see this.
2. I can still tell what room is what since some parts have not been delleted.

Well, it does still seem like too much blue - the background has a bluish cast, the ground is completely blue, etc. Also, it might just be the size of the screenshots, but it doesn't look like there's any detail at all in there, like there was in the original super metroid. Just some small little rocks in there or something, and it'd be fine.

To be honest most people have said that the palette isn't sore to their eyes (or mine) so I will be sticking with the palette and the hack isn't going to be ReDesign in any way so some rooms will be familiar :P

Was their too much grey-ish purple-ish in the original metroid? as all I have done is change the colour and the same for the detail nothing has been removed so I couldn't have lost detail, only added detail :)

But it probably is the size of the screenshots as there is some green for the grass in the levels
Fear Me! (Or else...)
Hm... ok. Makes sense. Just try not to have the background and the ground have the same color cast. So it was just the size of the screenshots that lost the detail...

Yeah it was :) I'm trying to patch it just now so you can all get a first hand look at it for yourselfs but anytime I seem to go to Create a patch it doesn't work :-s

True.

You may have just changed the colors, but you have to keep in mind: the two colors in the original's palette blended together nicely, and had a transition in the palette. In the room's you've shown so far, the white and the blue form a sharp contrast, which I think is why it hurts my eyes. It's fine if you keep it, but maybe consider using a lighter blue, or a bluer white to serve as a transition to lessen the contrast. Also keep in mind that one room might not be sharp on the eyes, but prolonged exposure to contrast like that really can mess with someone, and those rooms are not exactly small. I can see many players getting headaches while playing through this hack.

um....

If I was making the hack I would consider a very lightblue on the top blocks in the graphic set 2 tileset and not that pure white, which hurts my eyes a little.

This?

About the hack, it looks... alright. I agree with Bolgnab about the white. It really hurts my eyes too much to give it a good look.

And this?

..I'm sorry. But it seams you ignore what we all say. It's your hack. But you should at least consider it when 3 people say the same thing.

You lost detail since you use a one sidded pallet.
Fear Me! (Or else...)
The patch isn't working? What patch thingy are you using (lol)? I tend to use Lunar IPS, and that works just about every time for me.

I have had others commenting that the pallet doesn't affect them from other places than this site and again the white isn't striking when you play it, it looks striking as PNG format intensifies the white.

No, I'm trying to patch my own rom but to no avail

*EDIT*

NVM i worked it out :)
Fear Me! (Or else...)
About the palette thing, yeah, I can see that happening. However, still, you may want to just dull it down a bit to maybe a grey. Also, about the patch thing, Lunar IPS is a free download, no install, and it's worked every time for me. Try using it - it's very simple to use. Remember to select a clean rom first though.

I downloaded it. Played it. Design wise it got some flaws. But I just can't play any more. My eyes seriusly hurt. So do my head. ;/
