I'd assume you're talking about the actual game itself, because that could imply that it deletes your save file, which the game doesn't have.

I dunno if I should spoil the fun, but the Narpas Sword doesn't actually exist. The password NARPAS SWORD, iirc, gives you invincibility and unlimited missiles.

imo it stands for "Narihiro". Don't see why it would mean "North American Release" when there were other passwords available on the North American Release (why not start them all with "NAR"?), and it sounds like something a Japanese password system manager would do for a bit of fun.

(BTW: Wikipedia has a full-blown section on the NARPAS SWORD that could have answered your question...)

On a more serious note, has anyone gotten the info from Nintendo about what exactly it means? (NAR PASSWORD gets my vote, but there's NARPAS'S WORD, and the sword as well...)

And then what does NAR mean?
