Here is your new route:

skip losing your items -> early pb -> light/dark beams -> sanc through agon -> light suit -> warp to torvus -> dark visor -> cleanup

I know I'm pulling this game out again.
red chamber dream
don't need light beam
it probably helps tho :P
Skipping Light Beam requires Annihilator Beam, which requires fighting Quadraxis. Not to mention Light Beam saves a lot of time against some enemies and helps recharge dark ammo. I'd say it is still faster to get it.
red chamber dream
guess i didn't know you could skip annihilator before
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
yeah, skipping Quadraxis VIA OOB = skipping annilator.

As for using this in the marathon route, we'll see.  As soon as I get home from my trip I'll test this out.
So apparently you can lose your items by going back to the trigger. This resets your % counter and your items (at least the ones that Miles had when he tested), although you keep your active beam until you switch away from it. Even if you were to get all sky keys and then perform this, this does not lead to a lower% due to the requirement of Screw Attack for the Sky Temple and Light Suit for Emperor Ing (plan a route yourself if you don't believe me).
Whoa. No one here when I left. I've spent hours trying to get this on a fresh save and have failed. :( (Miles didn't mention if he was using one did he?) This unfortunately is looking like a 1000:1 shot if it's even possible with a fresh save. How ironic would it be if it only worked after you lost your stuff? <_<

How much did you lower it to? Did you do anything to helmet opacity? (far-fetched but still)
All the way down, nothing to helmet.

How closely did you follow this video on console?
Not real close, same general area, partial boost. I think something else is at play, just don't know what it is. I'm afraid I don't have any advice.

I did  try again with the late game save and failed (which is actually encouraging). If this took nimble fingers or fast reflexes I'd feel a lot better about not being able to get it again though.

Miles did it on a fresh save, he's playing through an 8% run right now I believe. Go to the live streaming forum and watch.

What sucks about this is how inconsistent it is... it saves far far too much time for any speedrun to pass it up, so if it ends up being so ridiculously inconsistent that it's a 1000:1 shot like you said then it's just going to completely kill Echoes speedrunning. Hopefully a consistent method is determined. I'm thinking it may have something to do with how long you're boosting before stopping but no idea. :/

edit: I've still had no luck pulling this off but it seems like every single time the game decides to reset whenever my momentum drops. Maybe this has something to do with whether or not the game freezes? Might also help explain why boosting into the boxes matters (if it actually does).
That makes as much sense as anything I can think of (which ain't much). I'm hoping Master ZED happens by with some insight.

I was able to figure out how to get scan working on the emulator and try a fresh save there. Worked the first tine. Threw errors the second but hung in there and warped. (I'm taking the errors as a reset.) It does seem to be much more tolerant than the console. I'll try to think of some things to try single stepping tomorrow. I'm near useless on the cube as far as trying out finesse techniques.

Woah woah woah... Am I seeing this right? It's now possible to bypass that portal and the cutscene where the Ing steal everything?

That's gotta be the biggest motivator for me (and everyone else, heh) to start learning how to use the Prime Trilogy's Secret Worlds EVER!

i could go as far as to boost around the bottom of the pit freely as long as i started from a complete stop but either the cutscene didn't trigger or i got a hard reset. i even hit boxes around without the game resetting but that was often since it would reset other times. it also reset even when i was standing still so there must be something else affecting the whole thing.

i'll wait until someone finds a reliable way to reproduce this.

btw, what's everyone using to try this? i tried on both the Wii and the GC and got the same results (though the attempts where i could boost around were on wii only).
my GC is one of the older models with component cable output and my Wii is a launch unit.
I'd have to learn A LOT before I could even remotely attempt this. Don't know if I ever will though, since there's always been something about using secret worlds to go beyond the game world that doesn't sit right with me. (As far as my own playing, that is. I have no problem if everyone else wants to use them. It's... kinda complicated to explain.)

wild.  wonder if this is gonna finally make people admit that echoes is more broken than prime. =p
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I don't know if it being more broken was ever in question. Razz

lol no way
I always thought of broken as being a measurement of the product of sequence breakers' work, not being a quality of the initial product (like breaking in a pair of shoes). I think this break might force us to reevaluate echoes as more breakable. Still not as comfortable.
Got it recorded, will upload later.
Thanks MilesSMB. I can't wait to see it. way to go; wow 7%. this got me psyched up to get my Echoes cd out. Ahh, it wasn't in the case! "tears up room searching". Tks again & GO_GO_GO, Woot!!!

Includes some random stuff (like unloading the room) that I very seriously doubt helps you pull off the trick, but whatever. I left the options alone for the most part, only changing helmet opacity to 0 since that's how I always play.

I didn't include the wallcrawl afterward since it sucked. >_> Just use your imagination!
In the wallcrawl, there were radiated monkeys that danced and threw poop at Samus.

What you said to use my imagination.

Awesome.

hey guys, just wanted to say that I did this successfully twice in a row by reloading the room first.  will try some more to make sure this is truely consistent.

edit: tried some more both with and without the room reload.  every success was with the reload.  however, there were plenty of crashes with the reload too.  I'm not completely sold that the reload is necessary, but it seems to be helping a little.

i see. i'm reloading the room and got it once but then fell too far below the room and had to reset (i can't do consecutive aether jumps to save my ass lol)

i've noticed that there's one thing i can't get to repeat like in the vid and that is getting the HUD to vanish when the ball's shell disappears. in miles' vid, the health and bomb icons vanish when he gets IS but on my attempts, it doesn't do that.
As I recall (though it's been years since I've messed with the game last, so this may be very inaccurate), the reason this never worked in the past was because by the time you got to the IS-capable door, Hive Access Tunnel would be unloaded and it wouldn't come back in any form while you were on the ground.  At least, I never got it to come back without moonjump.  Or maybe I was deaf when listening to the 'cube for loading sounds, I dunno.  At that point, we were stuck and I eventually stopped caring, which was obviously a foolish move.  I need to pull out the 'cube first before I even think of messing with this, but it looks like my poor Echoes disc is going to receive a brand new dose of torment. :D

All I've really come here to do for right now is say congratulations to doninss for finding that most sought-after of theoretically possible sequence breaks through the unreachable warp zone in the Hive Access Tunnel. :)

I do have a question for ya (or anyone else that's messed with HAT's shaft recently), now that I'm thinking about it: if you go in with moonjump from the room below and not dropping in it from HAT proper, will the event trigger in the shaft only send you outside the second time you moonjump into it?  I seem to recall that it does, and now that IS seems capable of sending Samus outside on the first try, I have to wonder if there are actually two event triggers in that drop.

This doesn't really matter as to how to get the warp to work at all, I'm just speculating on why the warp zone is there in the first place.
