and I dont really want to wallcrawl Phendrana without Space Jump xD
I had one earlier where Ice Beam was in an unobtainable spot in the Phazon Mines but I was actually able to collect all 12 Artifacts without it since none of them were in the Mines... but I couldn't finish anyway since Charge Beam was also unobtainable in the Main Plaza tree, so I wouldn't have been able to skip Prime's Ice phases.

Crazy stuff...
How can you skip Ice?

That damn tree

You can skip Ice phases with Supers, like its usually done in any% with Ice Spreader

With Charge Beam + Super Missiles it's possible to deal enough damage to him before he actually switches to skip a phase. So in theory, if you had Charge + Supers and managed to get all the artifacts without Ice Beam, you can skip Ice Beam. You'd just have to get really lucky and get power right before ice in both subchambers 2 and 3.

Also the dumbest thing about the tree was I actually had Space Jump + Floaty Jump and I still couldn't get it. I guess Charge gets placed a little higher up than the missile expansion normally does. Maybe something for Miles to fix :P
Has anyone with a drivechipped Wii tried burning a randomised iso and booting it yet?
Can't you boot burned games without a chipped Wii anyway?
i was thinking about getting 2147483647 dvd-r's and burning every seed. then if there ever is a race i would just pick the disc out.
not very practical though.
Lmao I calculated the possible number of variations, since the Morph Ball, Bombs and missiles are fixed, there's 96192759682482119853328425949563698712343813919172976158104477319333745612481875498805879175589072651261284189679678167647067832320000000000000000000000 different outcomes you could have

Alright, just tested it in Nintendont and its running great. I would definitely recommend that over DIOS MIOS since support ended on DIOS MIOS over a year ago and Nintendont still receives updates, and it works on all Wii's and Wii U's, and DIOS MIOS only works on original Wii's. It's really too bad that Devolution does not work, because that thing loads GC games from USB insanely fast. Like, the Artifact Temple door before Ridley opens instantly fast. I would say that Nintendont is just a touch slower than GameCube speeds, and occasionally has a stutter when doors open, but is certainly no big deal.

I did notice that Nintendont runs very slowly when loading from SD, and it crashed in the Chozo elevator on me, so stick with USB loading. Devolution handles SD loading better, but again, no loading it! I don't know exactly what it's searching for in the disc check, but I highly doubt that they publicize that since it's an anti-piracy measure.

Just make sure to download the newest version of Nintendont here.

Following the instructions in the link above, download the v1.0 public release HERE and keep the software up to date with the latest version HERE by replacing "boot.dol" in the public release with the new "loader.dol" in the latest version. Rename it to boot.dol again. Mine says v1.94.

Also, the game needs to be in the "games" folder of the root of your USB drive with the name "game.iso". You can place a Metroid Prime folder in the games folder and move "game.iso" there to make it easy to distinguish between other games you may have installed. USB loaders handle Nintendont fine, too. I use USB Loader GX, and all you need to do is go to Game Settings and check "Nintendont" under "GameCube Mode".
This sort of thing is why I think I'd rather use a disc
can wii's read dvd-rw's? could just re-use that a ton

But there's only two billion seeds, so there's actually only two billion outcomes. at least with the default settings. :P Also, those items don't have to be fixed. You can customize which items are fixed if you want; check the randomizer readme.

IMO it's not really that bad after the initial setup. I just have to follow a couple steps to randomize/rebuild, copy it to my USB stick, put it in the Wii, and then I can pretty much start playing. It's kind of confusing to get it set up in the first place, but after you get past that initial hurdle it's pretty simple.

Also, let me know if the script I posted last page is or isn't working for you. It worked on mine, but I want to be sure.

Yeah, definitely this.

edit: Artifacts in morph ball tunnels are funny because most of it gets cut off
Curious if anyone's planning to do a randomizer stream? Would be cool to see a playthrough from someone other than Miles or myself.
If I could figure this out I actually would in a heartbeat :/
Anywhere, everywhere
The hint system is wack and I love it
something else I was wondering is whether it would be feasible to produce a binary patch that you could just use to patch the vanilla ISO without needing the randomiser software
it would depend on how much of it changes once it's repacked
It'd be super nice to have something like that Grenola. If I understand correctly that's where miles wanted to be before he released it but he just ran out of time before SGDQ

well tools for doing that already exist (bsdiff / bspatch), the question is whether enough of the ISO remains unchanged for it to be worth it (if not you'd end up with a patch of similar size to the original ISO and also full of copyrighted stuff)
my guess is it wouldn't work too well because of the way stuff is encoded on DVD but I don't know
I dunno, I feel like it could be done

tried it in dolphin and it worked. pretty sure it doesn't randomize truth though which is the only thing that i'd prefer. not that big of a deal though.
