If you use you GBA as a controller for the GBP do you have to have the GBA on? the reason I haven't wanted to buy a GBP is that I think it would kill your batteries if you used the GBA as a controller, if not I may think of getting one.
Yes. Just buy one of those AC adaptors.
Problem is, you can't recharge the gba battery at the same time as it's plugged into the gc. That cable is like 5 cm wide & cover almost the entire backside of the SP at least. Don't know where the chargeplug goes into the ordinary gba though.
to all with control problems: i highly recommend you get a hori controller. it feels a bit tiny at first, but you quickly get used to it, and the dpad is three times larger than a gba/gamecube one. also, you don't have to deal with the slowed response time (like you're drunk) playing with a gba/gbasp.

i bought it here.
lol no way
Pfft, slow response time.. that's only if you fuck-ed up your GBA/SP. My SP has perfect response time, and since I'm still a little kid it fits my hands well. No need to waste money on a whore-y pad. Thanks though. :p Well, when I play I'm almost always so tired I may as well be drunk, so maybe I just don't notice the delay... whatever though, heh.

(*after previewing*) HAHAHA! Hore with a 'w' is Mother Brain... there goes that joke attempt.
'whori pad'

*ducks*

Anyway, I should note that I'm doing a 100% normal run currently in progress (and recorded!).  So far I've beaten DaveB's best time at the first save in the route on a practice attempt.  I'm still on the first segment though.
Might need a new tape though since I rewound like a billion times.

Before I read Nate's post on the Fusion board >_<.
lol no way
Hahaha, isn't that the worst? When/if I finally get back my GBP/GCN/GBAsp, I think I'll just do the last one or two segments without rewinding... too annoying, and my tape is in terrible condition.

Just curious...what was DaveB's final time?
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I'm not sure if Xin is talking about Dave's 59:36 on the SP, or 56:xx on the emu.

Seriously  Question

Dang...can't believe I snagged the record by 1 second  Exclamation
I'm talking about beating Dave's best time at that save point he's gotten.  It doesn't matter which run.

He said that it was the best time he's gotten.
I really really suck at 100% runs. I can't even pull off <2hr in hard or normal. I suck so bad.

Ready and willing.

I think he means if you use it as a controller for your GBP. It would be the cable's fault.
lol no way
No, see, I know what he means, and I have no delay. I use my SP as my controller for my GBP. No delay.
I don't think my SP has any lag on the GBP.

But he said GBA and those AC adaptors (that I've seen) plug into the battery socket.

If he meant SP, then those don't use batteries.

EDIT:

I just clicked that link. That site would be great if it weren't for the outrageous shipping rates. I want to buy this but shipping brings the price to about $210 dollars.

Shipping for a $3 item is $5 too. >_<
He means using the SP recharge as the SP is linked to the GC which is impossible.  The SP uses a rechargable battery charged with a adaptor that goes in a plug on the back, covered up by the link cable when it is hooked up.
Yeah. I know that. But bob said batteries and GBA and that doesn't have the back hookup like Alec mentioned, and Alec didn't know how the GBA hooked up either.
Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
What about Y cables? Aren't there any for this?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Well, now I have a new goal for tyhe year, get an AC adaptor for my GBA then a GBP.
Time attack 48:53. Not bad for my first Normal Speed Run. 46-48 seems to be my average.
it may be that i have a defective cable ...

or it may be that you ridleys are just too good for old nate, and your brain simply wraps around the control delay and adds it to your control planning stage (before your fingers actually press the buttons).

man, it's a good thing i ran fusion, where i could at least have the best time for a while. when you people actually start competing with me, i fall. :P
lol no way
Ah. God. Ahh.. I was practicing single segment 10% hard, and I got to the Chozo test thing, where you get your new suit.. and on the 4th little emblem.. I shot myself. I killed Mother Brain though, with relative ease, and I KNOW I can do that test thing... guess it mostly just hinges on Mecha Ridley, and not dieing while I make my way to him. So, I guess, expect a 10% hard single segment run eventually. Mind you, it won't be for speed, although I'll try a little bit to go fast... mostly just to see if I can do it, and to show that it can be done. But Radix said it would be a category at SDA, so I may as well....
Time: 1:16:17
Difficulty: Normal
Percentage: 100%

Lousy run with just 2+ minutes of improvement :( But I'm getting closer every time ;)
One shall stand, one shall ball.
At least your improving, I haven't been playing lately, I'm gonna have a lot of frustraion when I start playing again, that's when I'll be doing another 15% run, I hate those, but, meh.
1:25:12,50%.
Best so far,all my others were total failures. Eh heh.
Oh,yeah,it's on NORMAL difficulty. Laughing
