Ok, finished any% hard run.. finally:

Wow, weird, on the second, hahaha. 34%, I'll send this one to Nate since he'll be back soon enough... I think I'm going to take a little break from MZM; I finally found some cool people to hang out with, so I don't really have as much time as I did before to play it. I will, however, do the sub hour 100% hard and a single segment 10% hard eventually... maybe the sub 30minute any% normal, although that's not really positive, someone else might do it first.

yeah i definitely agree, good to lay down some "goals to reach" for every category, or you might actually discourage people from competing (i.e. "this is too easy for me"). and glad to hear pm is actually working, irregardless of the error. hopefully sendmail won't be too much of a bastard to beat into submission. *crosses fingers*

Yeah, a few months ago I was thinking of working on getting better and maybe trying for one of the records...but I figured by the time I even start to get better, aj will have already gotten the records in all categories. I mean, almost every video on SDA is from aj!

Actually dude... I dunno, I think this is like my last one, I'll work on single-seg 10% hard, since that's only one seg, but like... I'm really too busy of late to work on each seg for a super long time (i.e. any% normal sub 30 minutes or 100% hard sub hour..). Eventually, when school starts again, I'll work some more probably, but right now it's summer, I've got fun stuff to do. Not that speedrunning isn't fun, just, you know, like swimming and stuff.. yeah.

We need new movies from other games. Somebody should run through MGS2 on a DDR-mat or something. Or get a topscore in Snake on a Nokia cellphone :D Or run through the GBA Castlevania's. Or crush the records of a random Sonic game.

I've seriously thought about doing that on SA2:B.

I even attempted to find the best way to beat Metal Harbor with no running through loops or hitting walls or anything. Hitting every zipper, going through every ring line. I did pretty good I think. I don't remember what my fastest time for that level is.

Just another bit of info here: There is a missile silo near the beginning of that level that you can jump on, way out in the ocean. You can stand on it in some places, but fall through several clipped edges. I tried to find a glitch with that one, that might somehow connect to the final one (that you have to climb) but no luck.

In other news, I got a 36:32 off of a save somewhere between the fully powered suit and the room that fills 9 squares on the map. I then got a 36:25 on the same file. I somehow used that file to get a 36:09 today, with a horrible, horrible mistake. I don't know what went wrong with my other last segments. I should have kept on redoing the Tourian seg though. I probably could have shaved off at least 30 seconds if I got perfect refills from both Metroids AND cheerios, but alas, I couldn't beat MB after any of them, though I beat her every other run....

Okay, I just finished my most recent 100% normal speed run and got 1:03:30. Not bad, but I need to get a few mins faster before I record. I shouldn't have to worry about that because it will be awhile before I get the WT GBP.

OK, I have a run here that needs to be put in the how-to bin.

Normal 100% - 1:07:34 (Single Segment)

How-To: Completely screw up a Normal 100% single segment run.

How-Not-To: Shinespark through the wall on the right hand side of Ridley  Rolling Eyes

Honestly...the rest of the run was virtually flawless, save for one other mistake which I think cost me 10-15 seconds max. I watched the video afterwards....it took me 38 tries to punch through the wall correctly (the way AJ does in his Hard 100% run). About 15-16 seconds per retry...after timing it with a stopwatch (stopping it for each time I passed through a door...all 150ish of them) I came up with about 9:25 worth of screw ups (yes, it's probably off but I don't think by too far). So my estimated time would have been closer to 58:10, 1:25 faster than my record at SDA.

What gets me even more is the fact that I don't recharge upon entering the suitless Samus section, so 1 hit kills me...and this was the 1st recorded run that I actually made it all the way through wothout getting touched once  Crying or Very sad

Heh. My SP's screwed up, so I can't use it as a controller anymore, so you'll not be seeing any runs from me for a bit... but I've been practicing 100% Time Attack/Normal and got a time 0f 1:05:15 and then last night 1:01:08, which isn't that terrible. I know I could do better, I've just got to be more daring, heh. Gonna try again tonight. Only 5 more weeks till I can get a new SP and record a run again (the connector parts really messed up, constantly disconnects :( ).

Oh yeah forgot to mention: WAHOO! FORUM'S BACK!

Aye, just practicing, won't be able to record for about 5 weeks (SP's connecty part it messed up, maybe from throwing it at the wall all the time?), cause in 5 weeks I'll have enough money for a new SP (although I might take it in to EB to see if they can fix it... dunno if they do that or not).

Bleh...that sucks. You would always try using a GameCube controller like I do. I actually tried using the GBA SP as a controller...wall jumping bacame easier at the expense of randomly pressing a direction I didn't mean to due to me having big thumbs and mashing the control pad when I try to do it. Granted I can wall jump just fine with a GC controller now (both sides YAY!  8) ).

It's still almost amazing that I can do a run and get a certain technique perfect first try yet on other runs can't do it even if my life depended on it (read above post).

I posted this at samus.co.uk, but while m2k2 was down I finished a new any% run and ended up breaking the 30 minute barrier.

26%, 29:54

This is not my final time, however.  The last segment is just too awful to even think about capturing (honestly, if other people saw it, I would be embarrassed).  With a good last segment, it easily could have been 29:30.  However, I am just going to do another any% run rather than improve the last segment.  The whole run could be a lot better, and I want to solidify my any% record a bit more since AJ is no doubt working on beating me.
