Yes it's true. The quarkers have finished a run of Metroid Zero Mission. This is apparently the first GBA movie to be published over there. It takes a route similar to Gamecube04 speed run. The author even claims to be working on an improved version.

In-game time: 23:39.

aw man, that's a sick time. can anyone explain where the route deviates for me? I'm not gonna be home for a few days and thus have no way to download it (I'm at work right now).
It doesn't. In fact, it's identical to GameCube04's route. Doesn't even take into account some recent discoveries...

damn, I was hoping for some new info. seeing a time a good six minutes below mine is just depressing (though my time will definitely be improved soon). now I know how the super metroid people feel.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Welcome to the club, trans.  At least they only got you on 1 run, not 3, like me.

well, I watched the video and there's about two seconds of it that may or may not improve my run. the rest is pure slowdown and savestate. that's uplifting, I guess. I love watching the video slow down in places - it just adds to the fakeness of the video.

I just hope that everyone here will appreciate my (or anyone's) run and not an emulated one. there's nothing like watching every enemy in the game drop a missile or every metroid drop two super missiles. how depressing.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to nuke quarkers.

Evil or Very Mad nukes quarkers Evil or Very Mad

Evil or Very Mad h-bombs crater where quarkers were Evil or Very Mad

I'll watch a vid if you do one.  :o
lol no way
I actually sort of smiled at your description, trans... to know that it's that obviously cheated is awesome, because anyone who's totally unawares and just happens to watch the vid will realize that it's impossible and will (hopefully) brand that runner a cheater.

well, when the GBA emulator gets updated to fix that nasty slowdown, it will look a lot more real. for now, it's like "hey, what a coincidence, he's doing insane things and the game is playing at 1/4 speed!"

nothing like fighting Ridley one step from him, shooting missiles at him while shooting his fireballs with beam. yeah, that's real possible.
What do I need to do to open that?
I actually have a different strategy against Ridley that might actually be faster. Wall jump up and launch missiles from way up high while keeping yourself aloft. I managed about 3 before falling so it should be fairly simple for someone who has skill...
twenty eight fifty
if you can do that fast enough, I'd like to see it. after seeing his Ridley fight, I don't think the crumble room route would be faster, as he needs to get a super missile refill and, well, dude is dead before he'd ever drop a refill.
You can force a refill about a second after he starts flying.
twenty eight fifty
yeah, but did he ever get off the ground in the video? I didn't think he did, though I was too busy shaking my head and saying "yeah, okay".

maybe it's different on an emulator, but the crumble room shortcut isn't as fast as you'd think. I've timed it, and it's about five seconds faster. it's probably more than that if you can do the sidehopper room backwards without stopping, but in a human game, that's not easy. take into account that you likely need to save after Ridley (unless you like killing Ridley, missing the crumble room trick, and restarting a lot), and the time is negligible. you also have to have Ridley drop a super missile and life or else you're going to die in the upcoming rooms / have to recharge.

Circa's working on it, so maybe he can pull off stuff I can't (he probably can), but it's difficult as hell.
He was flying for about a second in the emu rape. I personally like to see new ideas, rather than this "perfection" bullshit.
twenty eight fifty
yeah, that's the reason I downloaded it - I was hoping he came up with something new, but instead he just slowed down Circa's route. so much for creativity.
Actually, the author of that video's making a new one, since the slowdown problem on VBA is fixed.  Or you could do the usual thing and bitch about it not being creative when the improved legit speedrun is going to use the same route as the last one.

Oh, right, and the route is a different one too, so that might be creative enough.
twenty eight fifty
well, there's a difference - an emulated speedrun can pull off things humans can't. for that reason, I was hoping there would be some things that were new.
Well, whatever happens still has to be within the limits of the game.

Anyway, I know there's a lot of smart Metroid fans here who might have some ideas on how to improve the run, so be sure to post any new tips and strategies at http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/forum/viewtopic.php?p=31431 when you think of them.  I'm sure BoltR will appreciate it.

He can browse here for tips. I'd hope the people here wouldn't support quarkers.

Didn't RT tell them about 0% fusion?

Game limits and player limits are not the same thing.
The final result from both, a good video, however are the same.  :?

Did you think we could keep it a secret, here out in the open, on this forum only?
