the part where it's really boring and nothing happens then the pirates show up and i don't care.

The desolation was supposed to setup a spooky atmosphere. It doesn't really work that well from a 7th gen perspective, but oh well. It hardly does any injustice to the later, more fun parts of the game.

It's why I've never bothered to speedrun Super or Prime. I like the atmosphere too much.

that's why you speedrun it over and over again. that way you get the feel after visiting the places so many times.
or you could do a 100% scans + 100% items run.
Anywhere, everywhere
Prime
Super
Corruption
Metroid II
Zero Mission
Echoes
Fusion
Pinball
Metroid
Hunters

That's my order, I'm guessing Other M will be around the zero mission-echoes-fusion level, but obviously I really wouldn't know. I'm surprised that the mods/admins like Hunters so much; it seems quite shitty to me.
it's adorable! if you're comparing it to prime you're doing it wrong.

I guess the multiplayer was kind of fun.

lol ... i never even played the multiplayer.
i think i got owned by yoshi once and that was it.
Anywhere, everywhere
I guess it does have good graphics and music, but after playing it again somewhat recently, it seems like a bad quake clone.

Reminds me when I went out to dinner with my grandma and some of her old-lady friends. I brought prime hunters and started playing it while bored, and one of the ladies watched me and asked me "Hey, is that doom?" and I lol'd

True story.

i don't know if this is good or bad...

i mean, doom is a classic, while hunters is a quick multiplayer cash-in, but i liked the new hunters

hey at least she's trying. it's also possible she actually knew what doom looks like (first-person view as opposed to something like mario) which is pretty cool.
Nobody in my family has ever looked upon a game I was playing and actually tried to guess what it was. I think they have heard of pac man and space invaders, but thats about it.  In fact, they think that's what video games are all like anyways.

yeah it's interesting that my mom would sometimes say "why don't you do something besides play video games" but would not object to my brother watching tv all day. i blame the media.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Indeed.  It certainly has a growing stigma attached to it, despite the fact that it's a perfectly valid form of entertainment.  I'm more active when I'm sat playing a game than watching TV, so what's the problem?
As for me I'd say:

1.  Metroid Prime
2.  Super Metroid
3.  Metroid Fusion
4.  Other M
5.  Zero Mission
6.  Metroid Prime 2
7.  Metroid II: Return of Samus
8.  Metroid
9.  Metroid Prime 3
10. Metroid Prime Hunters

I didn't play Metroid Prime Pinball yet or never will.

Why?  It's a lot of fun.

Guess I'm lucky in the fact that my brother and father play games a lot, and my mom has even started to a little. OK, so for her it's things like all of those Facebook games right now, but they can still count to a degree since the terms and gameplay mechanics mirror some of the more in-depth games we play. She has played Sim City, the Sims, and similar games before though.

my mother played LOTS of tetris in the Nes, my father like tennis games and mario kart, my sister it's better than me in guilty gear, and my brother is addicted to League of legends...

Mainly because of lack DS game selling in my nearest game store.

My mom played a lot of ATARI games, her favorite game is Galaxian/Galaga. My dad plays a lot of Battlefield Bad Compagny game and Forza Motorsport 3, my sister plays Blur and GTA games. My Little brother plays a lot of Call of Duty games and Halo games. As for I, I like to play any kind of video games.

So my family too is strange.

Ohhhh I hated this SO much! When I was in LA visiting my dad for the summer, whenever any family would come by (especially my aunt(she's 2 years older than me)) they'd give me such a hard time about being on the computer all day, but ALL they would do is watch TV.
hasn't she totally given up on your brother though?
red chamber dream
yeah lol. that might have something to do with it.
