I need help with both of these tanks please. Are one of these the "gauntlet?"

Edit: YES! Found the one in Brinstar. That was a well-hidden path indeed.

The first still remains unacquired, though.

Edit: Now how about this place?

God am I glad to add the second crumble block there to prevent that STILL attempted CF to cheat your way through this passage! :P
Just a hint, the entrance is not directly there (remember green Brinstar spike energy tank).

About SM:Impossible 2, nice idea, but I fear I won't ever get the time to work on it, since as Lance already said, it would require a complete redesign of most rooms, to not get similar to SM:I 1. I'm not a experienced redesigner, just a good planner, so it would just take me too much time to get a good result there. :(
Maybe somebody else could do it, who has good redesign skills and hacking knowledge in general. Drewseph, creator of SM:Redesign would be a great example of such a hacker.
FoxHound:
Gauntlet etank - The entrance to that etank is not very near the tank itself
Pink Brinstar etank - Crumble blocks (not those)

Saturn:
Drewseph would just make another Super Metroid Redesign Impossible Gravity Not Easy Sonnavabiatch hack, it wouldn't be the same. I can honestly say that this is the only hack I've had interest in and have completed, because you know what makes good players play this hack?

They know they are good, and saying this is the hack that puts a line between bad and good players makes everybody want in the honor list. This was one of the reasons I wanted to complete this hack and prove it to myself. Other reasons because it was so fun and challenging and I wanted to know if I really could do it. The title "Hack for masters!!!" really pulled me into this.

Please consider about making a Super Metroid Impossible 2 some day. :)
I found the Etecoon ET, so now I just need to find the Gauntlet and Pink Brinstar tanks, and maybe a couple more Super Missiles. I tried to take on Golden Torizo, but he stomped my butt into the ground without Mercy. How am I supposed to fight him if I don't have enough Supers and my Charge Beam won't affect him?

Anyway, give me a slightly more detailed hint to the gauntlet E-Tank. I'm going to assume that the Pink Brinstar path is in the same room, near other crumble blocks on a higher floor. If not, then i'll try other places near crumble blocks, but as it stands I bombed the Gauntlet room, the room before and the room after inch for inch with Bombs, and found nothing. However you hid it, you hid it well.

Edit: Found the pink room expansions, as well as the Energy Tank behind them. That was annoying; trying to pull off the short charge. That puts me at 8 E-Tanks.

When you say that the entrance is not very near the tank itself, do you mean that it's in a different room altogether, or is it in the same room?
Has Anyone makes a Speedrun of This version?^^
then send me the Link :)

By God and Jesus, I GOT it! What the hell man; how is ANYONE supposed to know that there's an invisible grapple block portruding the way? I like how you hide items in unorthodox ways, but that was just plain ridiculous.

Okay, i'm back at my ship with...

9 E-Tanks.
4 Reserves.
150 Missiles.
20 Supers.
30 Powers.
Grapple Beam.

Charge/Spazer/Plasma Beams.

Morph Ball/Bombs/Spring Ball.

Hi-Jump/Space Jump/Speed Booster.

How am I doing, and am I ready for Lower Norfair now?
Wow you are an active poster here.
Yes you are all set to go. Maybe you could find some more items but you really dont need them all to survive down there. At least with e-tanks you are perfectly ready to go.

About the GT fight.... you should just make him give you more super missiles with those "eggs" he shoots, they should provide supers with a good percentage. It could be hard and all, but it is not impossible.
Is it wrong to be an active poster? I like to hover; that's all.

I'll go hunt more Super missiles if there are still some to be found. Unless one pack is at the top of the Meridia shaft before the Snail room.

These are the 4 that I found.

1. Pack after the maze in Norfair.
2. Pack after Phantoon, where the gravity suit normally is.
3. Pack after Botwoon, over the sand.
4. Pack in Norfair where the Ice Beam normally is.

Edit: Beat Golden Torizo...AND WHERE IS MY SCREW ATTACK!!? AARRRGGGHHH!

Anyway, I just grabbed the E-Tank in the fire flea room. I need a place to restock, because I only have 2 supers and a few Power Bombs remaining.

Hey, before i continue my search for the x-ray, I need some help with some Missile Packs.
I have every Super Missile Pack, I am just missing 8 (!!) Missile Packs..-_- how can this be? I know you dont know which ones i got and which not.. But please give me some hints.. Are there many Missile Packs in Lower Norfair and which Missile Packs are easy to miss?

still same problem.. anybody willing to help?
FINALLY beat Ridley. It was one hell of a battle, but the reward was SWEET!

Now the rest of the game should be fun.

Back at my ship.

14 Energy Tanks.
4 Reserve Tanks.
180 Missiles.
35 Super Missiles.
45 Power Bombs.
Grapple Beam.

All Beams.

Varia/Gravity suit.

Morph Ball/Bombs/Spring Ball/Screw Attack.

Hi-Jump/Speed Booster/Space Jump.

I have enough; time to finish this hack.

Edit: THE OPERATION WAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY! CLEAR TIME = 06:37.

Your rate for collecting items is: 85%.

SEE YOU NEXT MISSION!

I did it. Nobody will call ME subordinate. Add me to the list please. =)

I'm all for it; bring on a SM: Impossible 2. You did great on this hack, and i'd love to see another major SM project.

I'm going through this hack again and found a curious puzzle. In the room with the reserve tank at the top left of the main bubble room in Norfair, there is a Missile pack hidden inside the wall. There's nowhere underneath it to Crystal Flash up to and the block above it isn't an enemy I can Kagoball through, so how do I get to it?
ducknerd, very short hint for it:
same as the gauntlet e-tank and kraid missile....
Hello guys!

First of all, this hack is a real challenge for all Super Metroid Fans! Really great work on this. :)

But i have a problem.. I hope I can ask here about it.

Here's a picture where i dont know, if i have to get there up! It seems impossible.. Wall climbing is useless there o.O and the jump is too low...

http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/2568/unbenanntia4.png

Do I have to get there up? I searched on many places, but there I cant go ahead! I also have a reserve tank now ( the pic is just ~ 2 hours old ^^ ) So i have:

30 of first Missile
10 of second
5 of third
Charge Beam
Spazer
Highjump Boots
Bomb
Morphing Ball
1 Reserve Tank
and 5 E-Tanks

The last thing I got, was the reserve tank.. before I got the E-Tank at Crocomire and the E-Tank that is, where the X-Ray is in normal SM

Could you help me please? Dont know where to go... and im bored of Bomb Jumping to Wrecked Ship to run in circles ;)

Hope this is allowed !
Duck down and then jump, and when you've reached the platform aim down to make it on top of it. That's how to get on that platform in Maridia that pic showed.
Another choice is to kneel, jump and quickly morph into a ball mid-air while going up. Anything to gain more height  :)
Thx for the tips! :) Got it to made =)

€dit:

got it... blah.. i checked it before... but it seemed that i couldnt pass it ;)
Look around more.

Gah, stuck again. How on earth do you get to the Charge Beam's original area? I'm on the pre-LN cleanup. I've bombed and grappled everywhere and did quite a few very creative Crystal Flashes, but I'm at my wit's end.

There was some kind of tip at the previous page about that, I think. No CF needed in the later versions, that kind of creativity has been "killed off". Well, I might as well post that hint here again.

Look near crumble blocks. Not the bottom ones blocking the way.
Talking of that tank, I'm in its room and I would like to know if I need to do a "Super Short Charge" or something to get past the Speed blocks, because I can't see how I can destroy them with so little room to charge it, if its needed, how am I supposed to do it?
well, just the regular short charge is good enough for that tank... I assume super short is something used almost only in TAS. So yes, it is a must to obtain that tank with short charge unless you get it later, which does not help that much then anymore.

Anyway, one of the the "easiest" ways to do it is probably first tap the direction (left or right) button and then hold while keeping the run button down all the time. Another simple way is to walk the first few steps and then press and hold the run button.

I am sure someone wants to show their awesome knowledge and begin talking about frames and front leg positions, but I hope you can manage with those for now. You can find more information by searching this forum, it has been explained quite a few times in some other threads, I think.
The tricky part about that tank is knowing how much you need to "walk" before you start running. You have to be accurate to the frame (and your timing must be precise when the charge is gained) to pull this off.

But you really should get it now; once you beat Ridley you really won't need it anymore, even though it will be so much easier to get.
You can be a few frames off, not much of a matter.

And everything is EASY after Ridley.
Okay, thanks, got it. Now it's the etecoons tank that I can't seem to find the entrance, I bombed/grappled every block in the metal hallway, I saw the tank when I used a Power bomb... I assume the entrance is either in the green hallway under the tank or the shaft next to the room or something?
