You're invulnerable while corrupted. It takes one Energy Tank to use, which is why you lose energy when you utilize it.

Also, I'm not sure if people necessarily think Rundas is hard (maybe on Hyper difficulty); but his battle music is widely regarded as awesome.

Probably what is making this all the much worse is that I have to play it on my laptop,

Huh?

Using tv/capture card?

Metroids Are Jerks
It's some sort of TV capture card, I'm pretty sure.  It's called the "ATI TV Wonder 600"; it's the only way I can play my American Wii in France.  But I've gotten to the point in the game where I can't even continue because there's so much movement needed, and I just can't follow all the lagging.  I'm still in Bryyo; I have to take out the two Anti-Aircraft Guns and I can't even get past the first one.  All those phazon-powered Pirates make it difficult as well... I die so damn fast, it's frustrating.  I know I'm not that bad at Metroid.

One thing though is that the pirates look so much better in MP3 than the gray-mass boring pirates of MP2 (to stay on topic).  Glad to see that the pirates have developed a cavalry as well...

EDIT:  Okay, so it isn't a capture card, but here's a picture of the thing:

The end opposite the cable extension is a USB port that I use to connect to the laptop, and on the top there is a port where you can plug in an AV-cord adapter, which is where I've plugged in the Wii.
OH ****!!!!

I agree its about time they started having more of tatic then putting a lot of their soliders here in one spot to overwelm samus. The only pirate that has shown me incredible fustration is the pirate commander. They look cool, better then the commandos. But i just can't take the fustration i had when i first fought it. I kept thinking that i had to kill all the commandos before going after the commander. Two hours later it clicked in my head to go hypermode on the commander. Ugh what a nightmare. :(
I'm going to have to put my vote in here for Prime 2. While Corruption is a brilliant game over all, as a Metroid title it feels very shallow to me. My gripes against Corruption are: Hypermode makes it either frustrating due to weak normal weapons, or too easy, depending on how much you use it (I only died 3 times in my first Veteran run...), the lack of most of Samus's core arsenal is troubling, and the story is all over the place and threatens to introduce the unholy retcon to the Metroid universe. The idea that many of these features and changes were made to try to mainstream the series as an FPS competitor is also annoying to me. I don't like to see art compromised by public opinion.

Meanwhile, Echoes felt like you were in deep the whole way, fighting against all odds. The boss fights were monumental, the normal monsters were formidable, the stage design was core Metroid throughout, and the soundtrack oozed atmosphere. To me it was compelling in a way that Prime 3 doesn't manage in its attempt to be more popular.

Not that Prime 2 is my favorite -- I think the original is still the best. Prime 2 had its share of problems after all (excessive backtracking, Annihilator and charge combos underpowered or totally ineffective most of the time, and the ammo system which to most people is annoying, but to me is simply superfluous since I never run out of ammo anyway).

Prime 1 remains the classic that defined the formula; a formula that Prime 3 could have benefited from had it followed it even just a bit closer. To date I've played through Prime 6 times, Echoes 4 times, and Corruption twice. The first two just seem to have more replay value to me. :)
Based on metroid-traditionalism factor, prime 2 probably does follow more closely to metroid's tried-and-tested formula, but I have to say that I prefer Prime 3 just because it was more fun. I had trouble staying immersed in Echoes' universe for a second and third playthrough, but Corruption's new developments, whether you look at them as 'watering down the metroid-ness' or 'further development and adaptation', made the game more fun for me, while still being true to what I love about metroid; immersion, atmosphere, exploration.

Not to say that Prime 3 is the best; I think there's pretty much a unanimous vote for MP1 being the best of the trilogy, and I agree completely with that, I just don't agree that the third was just a shadow of what it could have been, and I found less annoyances in Corruption than in Echoes.
Personally, I liked Echoes more than Prime 1. The ammo system wasn't that bad, the dark and echo visors are really fun to screw around with, it introduced the screw attack in 3D, finally, and some of the boss fights (Quadraxis, Dark Samus) are very engaging. However, I'd say I like Corruption more. More freedom of control, more elements like the ship being used in combat, hyper mode kicks serious ass, and the enemies are overall engaging since they can enter hyper mode too. Overall, I'd say Corruption >> Echoes >> Metroid Prime 1
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai

heh those are almost my feelings on the whole issue, with the only difference being that i like mp2 as much as mp1 (can't pick one of them still definitely but i replay mp2 more) and i have replayed them a lot. i still have to beat corruption in hypermode.
Anywhere, everywhere
Eh, I only beat Echoes 4 times (1st time through, low%, 2 speed runs), while I've already gone through corruption 6 times. Prime will never be surpassed in how many times I beat it though, as it is quite a lot.
red chamber dream
lol yeah, I've beaten Prime something like thirty or forty times. I've only played through Echoze and Corruption once each. Guess that goes to show my opinions of the games.
I do intend on playing Corruption on Hyper difficulty sometime, but not any time soon.
