Now, a squad based strategy game like X-Com where you are the federation fighting against the pirates and other aliens could be an interesting thing if done right. There's enough variety in the alien creatures and there's certainly room for the Federation to upgrade their soldiers, craft, and facilities based on the Pirates alone. Maybe I'm just giving X-Com too much credit here, but I think something like that could actually work in the Metroid universe pretty well.

Does it mean I want to see Nintendo do it? I don't know. But I think it would be cool. (Either that, or I'm just looking for the next X-Com and Metroid is a close enough fit in my mind. That's probably what it is.)
