I was thinking of a way to progress Metroid as a series.  I think that going back....way back before the time of Samus would be very interesting.  A whole new character.  The game isn't called Samus it's called Metroid.

Maybe Samus wasn't the 1st Chozo armored/raised character.  Maybe Samus was raised by the Chozo trying to replicate a previous character.  A whole different story can be told that takes place in the distant past with Chozo still around and Metroids galore.

Just pondering.

my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
that wouldn't work because the Chozo created the Metroids some time before Mother Brain turned against them and joined the pirates. at that time Samus already had the power suit and Chozo training.

Metroid without Samus would have to take place somewhere in the timeline and probably in parallel to a game to explain Samus' abscence.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Two words: no.
Armor Guardian
I'd play a Metroid game starring Anthony Higgs.

Metroid: Other M should have starred Anthony Higgs.
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
I'd play a Metroid game starring a space pirate.  Who's with me?
Uh...I'd buy it, but I don't know if I'd like it or not.
Whatever happened to those spin-off games they were talking about with the six hunters? Sylux seems to be one of the post popular of those guys, and he'd made the most sense (other than Weavel) to see again. Probably never happened because of the criticism against Hunters in the first place.

Sure, a Metroid game without Samus would be strange, but if the gameplay is solid I'd still play it.

I see.  Well, maybe the Chozo could have trained more than just Samus.  Why does she have to be the only one.  Could be a whole new galaxy or something.  I guess I don't like Samus anymore. Other M really made her look like an idiot.
red chamber dream
i'd love to see a metroid game without samus.
Yoshi is back
I'd Laugh At a Metroid game if It Starred Famous Football Player: Anthony Calvillo. Tackling Through Metroids.laugh new

Metroid Prime Hunters 2, with a story mode for every hunter. No samus in the whole game though. Oh, and no metroids either.

A Metroid game without Samus is like a serving of pancakes without syrup: utterly incomplete.
Club 27 Goals
I'd eat the pancakes if I had some nutella and peanut butter though.

Sylux can be the nutella, and Weavel can be the peanut butter.

Screw the Nuttella and peanut butter. Just toss some egg and sausage and make a redneck breakfast taco.

Hell yeah.  But as long as hes a Zebesian.  Also, Id like to play as a Chozo and a GF soldier.
Why do the Chozo need to train another human?  Why not just play as a Chozo?

Id like to see a game where you play as a Chozo and the game would explain the Chozo dissaperance.  But it would be nonlinear like Super and there would limited direct storytelling.

Basically instead of Samus in a Power Suit, you would be a chozo in a power suit.

A cryo-statis Chozo from back when they were badass and still had wings.
Can't think up a decent plot off the top of my head though.
Having a different protagonist didn't hurt MGS2.

Originally it did, but not as much now. I think it wouldn't be a big deal if we knew going it that Samus wasn't the main character. That's where a lot of the hatred for Raiden originally came from as far as I know.
Hideo Kojima is the biggest and most prolific troll the world has ever seen.

People hated Raiden because he's a whiney shit-stain. The fact that you were Snake for only 20% of the game was just rubbing salt in the wound.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I don't feel there's any need to remove Samus, or really update anything for the series.  It's possible to even take a silly example, and have no story whatsoever.  You could just throw Samus into a landing, and off you go.  Metroid has always been about finding the expansions and powerups.  They should just create the game as is, and stop trying the stop people breaking the game.  It's like they fail to realise that the most dedicated fans, the ones who love it the most, are the ones who are doing the breaking.  Are they sating they don't want dedicated fans?  Let them have their fun!
While high levels of dedication may seem sweet to some of those involved with creating the game, it's not really what they're going for.  2 retarded customers are twice as good as the most 'dedicated' one.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I know, but what I'm saying is sales-wise, the people who rush out on day one are mostly fans of the series.  I wouldn't imagine that regular Joes would purchase it over other games any more than any other game off the shelf.  The fanbase makes up a large quantity of sales, and to alienate them can't do them any favours...
