All right i got the video up but its processing. In the video i climb up and get the wave beam then initiate infinite boost followed by getting the artifact of sun and then a missle expansion both of which you would normally need the plasma beam for.

There is a really big thread somewhere on this site that tells you all the places you can trigger infinite boost. If i can find time to find it ill put a shortcut to it but midterms make me want to scream.

now if we could only get the room with the plasma beam to load while we have the infinite speed bug on, we could just ram a wall to get the beam without space jump. well i can dream anyways.

Oh and one question. I think i remember something about a technique called a "solar frenzy" that was useful when ya don't have space jump but i never have seen it done or even have a clue of how it would work. If anyone knows anything about it, please lend me your knowledge.

edited again: Oh boy, i was just playing around with the infinite speed bug and carried it all the way to ice ruins west. There was a really nasty bomb jump i had to do in ice ruins east but it was worth it cause in ice ruins west you can use it to get a power bomb expansion that you would need the plasma beam for otherwise. if anyone wants to try to get this i will explain the nasty bomb jump needed to get there otherwise lets just leave it at nasty.
first off yeah that video was pretty funny watching you get up ice shrine and making stupid mistakes like i do all the time. good to know im not the only one :). you just have to learn not to try and rush through your jumps. as for the infinitespeed. wow that was crazy. id like to know what causes that and why it grabs things far away. it almost as if the missing parts of the ball transport far away from the energy part of the ball. anyways i guess ill find out in that thread.  does the site allow this method for other sequence breaking runs. i know on the mariokart site using glitches are either banned or your put into a seperate ranking system. anyways you may as well tell us how to do the jump as i will use this thread when making the walkthrough and im prolly gonna make a version for people who cant manage to get the plasma beam.

Well its very hard to explain so i will do my best to make a vid but it is very frustrating cause the camera is all flickerbatted up when your trying to manipulate a wall and five bombs starting on a slope. So in ice ruins east first kill the sheegoth or you are going to die fast then while in the center of the room looking back towards the wall that contains both doors, there is a building right in front of you with a hole in it, just to the left side of the hole there is a kind of snow lump against the wall, this is what you are bomb jumping off of. You have to do a wall triple jump but really altered in timing cause of the different angles in the slopes as you are jumping. you are aiming to land on top of the building but with all my attempts i couldn't make it up with the five bombs. you have to get up to that little indent of the building right by the rock, once there lay a bomb as fast as you can cause your not gonna stay up there too long before you slip off. from there you just go over to the edge on the rock and do a double bomb jump over to the edge right by the door, don't mess this jump up or you are going to cry histerically, if you make it just open the door and go through to ice ruins west and boost into the wall for your pb expansion. ok when i make my final walkthrough iv decided to ONLY use this method for unsolved items. i read the topic and i could fully understand how its done or where to use it. im gonna make a list of every item i still dont have including ones that require plasma. if someone could find out which ones can be achieved without SJ using this glitch let me know. I've no idea if this is known or not, it's probably is, but it may be useful in some unsolved rooms. When you combat-dash, you can do a normal jump so you're in the air before dashing while in midair. I started to fall from the dash pretty fast, but I'm not sure if that was because I was in mid-air, or because I didn't do it fast enough.

Update on my run: I'm after gravity suit now, I've not been playing much, most of the time I don't feel like it, but whatever. Chances are I won't play today, I don't most days. Last time I played I got really annoyed, damn flickerbats in the room that's connected to the back of the research labs in phendrana, I forget what it's called. They knocked me away from the door I was jumping to and down into the water. I was forced to stop playing at that point however, and I haven't played since, but next time I'm gonna kill those things before making the jump.
I finally managed to climb up PPC without sj, unfortunately this is where my run ends because of plasma beam. oh well, that was still cool. good luck to everyone else who is playing sjless.
NOOOOOOOOO I HAVE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE! i cant scan the ice flickerbats because ther are gone :( my file can never be complete THIS SUXS THE BIG (many random obcenities, most of wich iv never heard of). o well at least the item pickup percentage is uneffected.

demonic-yeah it says in Mr. Potters walkthrough to kill them before making the jump. also remember what i said about getting through gravity chamber. one step you must l-lock your view down to make the jump. I too usually dont play everyday. believe it or not iv been working on this run on and off since summer i believe.  Of course i had never done a single sequence break when i started so ladder DBJ's were a pain in the ass for me. actually at first i kept trying to get up ice temple without giving the ladder effect to the DBJ's cause i didnt know i was supposed to or even how.

iowa-ok so did you only go through and get all the upgrades? dont you still need the spiderball. just so you know this walkthrough is for EVERYTHING except SJ; scans M.E.'s PBE's tanks, beams, artifacts, and ultimately beating metroid prime.  If you really want to challenge yourself try getting everything. plasma beam is possible. if you dont want to get it though there is still quite a lot you can get without it. i have 80% and there are still a few things i can get without it.
you can get the M.E. ice ruins east with using the infinite boost in the chapel and i think its much earlier like this. In Phendrana Shorelines  jump on the legde near the door of ice ruins east tunnel after do a double bomb jump go in the ice ruins east tunnel, enter in ice ruins east boost on the wall infront of sheegoth and u get the M.E

You might be thinking of a "solr flare", a move self named by the user who found it.  IIRC  it is just the unmorph at the end of a bomb jump, done at the right time so that you still have upward momentum (eg Vent Shaft).

A close relative to the infinte speed trick is the infinte boost trick.  You get stuck just the same, but you keep boosting instead of spinning by holding the control stick.  You know you've got it when the volume on the boosting goes up, and then becomes quiet, spinning all the while.  The use of IB comes from when you unmorph: you can shoot to the other side of the room or into the air!  Dunno if there are places still too high to reach yet w/o SJ.  (Sorry, Geo Core cannot be IB'd.)

Thanks sparky!  That is so much easier.  GTH doesn't really matter since spiderball is aquired.

I was only doing this run for fun and to see how far I was able to go without sj, since my bomb jumps skills are (were?) very low. I have to say I really didn't think I would get so far into the game, and actually, none of the tricks gave me any trouble except PPC. I ignored most enery tanks, ME's and PBE's, getting every item wasn't my goal in this run at all.
about plasma beam, is it really humanly possible? I know it is a lot easier with spider and grapple, but there are still like 2 insane bomb jumps to perform, if I'm correct?
Since i now completely found  out myself how to get the Super Missile, i try to beat the 80%. To get the Super Missile, there are only 2 hard things, and both are needed to get to the 2nd bomb slot, and you have to clear 2 bomb slots and 4 spinners to take the Super Missile down:
1. A difficult dbj with unmorph.
2) An insanely well done wall tbj with insane umorph( because the platform is far away, but you have to stay at the wall)

I don´t have the Super Missile right now, but the rest is a piece of cake, i simply must enter this room from Research Labor Aether.
i discorvered something very interesting yesterday. The shortcut of bartendorsparky in main quarry is very hard to do. You can simply do like Main Quarry to Waste Disposal scan dash and w/o SJ its possible.

for anyone doing the run start listing your percent so i know how close you all are. only do it once until you make progress tho.

me and kmstreet where talking about when the fission metroid hit me and propelled me forward. i think it happened at the moment i hit the bomb in the air. we were thinking maybe the bomb had some effect on the way the metroid hit me. maybe it latched on for a second but then the bomb broke it free but i still took damage form the metroid. or maybe it just bombed me the same moment as the bomb went off giving the extra momentum. im not sure exactly as it wasnt on video and i didnt even see where the metroid hit but thinking back i think it was during the begining of my unmorph. kmstreet tried to mimic it but with no success.

Mr.X-i read the message. sorry i didnt realize i had a message. if your questions were refering to the observatory i did give a brief message and i went to the room to see how it was done. unfortunately it had been quite awhile since i had passed that room and also since the ledges werent in the original places i was sure what the method was. but i did give a brief answer to your question.

recit-yes the hbj is the only way to get plasma. and i cant get it either so im dreading the day i have to. luckily for  you though this and only one other place, M.E. Rootcave and M.E. Arbor chamber, REQUIRES the hbj. at least for all the places iv solved. maybe more hbj in phazon core.
