Me too. I can only do a wall tbj, nut no regular tbj! Good to see another one who isn´t that good in bomb jumping!
kyupi+yakisoba=win
Ya all the different bomb jumps can be very difficult to do. I had to practice for hours to get the timing down but even with all the practice i have done i still screw up the hbjump more often then i get it right.
I can't even manage to do the infinite bomb jump to get the artifact right after fighting flaahgra. the little spike guys always kill me. I can't even freaking wall tbj, let alone ladder tbj or regular tbj! I remember when I couldn't do ESJ, and laugh about how noobish i was (about a week ago  grin new )
TBJs are not so bad.  Get familiar with the good old DBJ.  Next, practice a DBJ where you "burn" a bomb before hand to pull some of your supply from the bomb reload.  You would burn one, pause slightly, then do a DBJ.  With some easy practice you get it so only the final bomb comes from the refill (you can also practice 3bjs at this point).  Once you get the timing down, the last 2 bombs in the air (stacked like in a DBJ) are pretty easy to get.  Optimal timing and placement will take a bit more practice, but you'll already be able to go higher that you could before!

Mr Potter, the author of that no-SJ document at GameFAQs, is a member here.  I know that he has done more than is written there, and he would happily enjoy this topic.  Hopefully he will see it.

If anyone has a copy of Ekarderif's FCS without SJ or smilingjack13's upper GTH without SJ, this would be a good place to post them.

You rock sparky.  It is cool to see videos of some of the old no-SJ SBs (like Chozo Ice Temple).  The PPC climb was awesome!  That was the only nagging issue I've had about 21% being solved (modulo Geo Core of course).
I'd be alot better if there were vids of tbj's and other things like that (the combat dash.... i was trying ESJ for the first time and did a regular dash for so long, while thinking i was doing it right but i was on the wrong part of the ship.)
MY CURRENT SJless %: 78
items to collect: wavebuster, ME great tree hall, ME root cave, ME gravity chamber (if possible w/o plasma. im only attempting this when i get extremely tired of attempting geo core), plasma beam, all other plasma required items

YAY i finally found the very last M.E. in my 100% file. it was inside the tree in mainplaza. i was looking all over for it and finally found it when i wasnt even looking. i really didnt expect 3 ME's and a tank would be in one room so i guess i didnt try looking hard in this room. i almost passed it up but i heard that hum that expansions give off when i was about to enter the next room. anyways it was obviosly really easy to get. just jump off the ledge above the tree and land in the hole where it rests.

craztad-I knew root cave would probably be the most difficult.  I figured an HBJ would be required and im just dreading having to do it as i still havent mastered it. i think iv done two extremely bad hbj's before.  if you get tired of working on this try to see if ME gravity is possible. i know its easy with the plasma beam but i dont know if ill EVER get through geocore. as soon as i grab the wavebuster and ME great tree hall ill work on solving root cave and gravity chamber.

Mr. X- i will probably also create a full PAL version walkthrough of the sj-less run. you can get ALOT done without scandash's so ill do my best to solve every room without scan dashing. i can almost guarentee a 98% will not be achievable tho. maybe not even 80% but ill try and come close as possible.

Demonic-you have a looooong road ahead of you.

stefan- thats a good idea freezing the plant and DBJ off of it. thanx for the idea. any more specific help on doing that technique in case its still hard?

iowa-yeah you really need to make sure you get everything you can before entering phazon. going through without spiderball mustve been tough. were you even able to get the grapplebeam without it?

skippyjr.- oh thanx for the info. yeah i actually eventually do want to get in contact with him about using his walkthrough as the body of my walkthrough but add all the pickups. let him know about me and this topic if you can.

stefan-ok well freezing the plant didnt really work as it unfroze almost immediately. however i did find out that even while unfrozen you can get ontop of it. on the left side go into morphball and press into the corner and towards him. lay bombs. you pop up but dont come down, so long as your pressing towards him. eventually you can land on what seems like an invisible platform ontop of him. a DBJ can be done but is a lil tricky as you have to aim it right and make sure you dont fall off. you take sporedamage the whole time. so Mr. X this is good news for you as this is an alternative to craztads scandash method.
kyupi+yakisoba=win
ok gravity chamber. i looked around a bit, tried a few ujump instant unmorph jumps and wasn't getting anywhere. so i grabbed the gravity suit left the area and came back so the electric ball things are in there. From here get on top of the ice thing that is right by the door, wait until the electric ball thing moves to the right place to give you a nice combat dash angle. From here it takes some luck as you have to have a good enough dash to leave you with enough momentum to hit the edge by the missle expansion and slide up. you have to hit the right spot on the edge to be pushed up and still have the momentum. Go to this sites early missle expansion sections gravity chamber ME to see the dash im talking about. the vid there uses the space jump boots to get on the ice thing sticking up and to make the dash. your gonna have to bomb jump unmorph onto the ice thing and get lucky once up there. good luck.
I know I've got a long way to go, that's a given, doing an SJ-less run on Pal was never gonna be easy, I knew that from the start.

I gave up on the TBJ in the end. I know it can be done, but I found it far too difficult. I went and beat Thardus, got the spiderball, then returned and got through Hall of Elders the usual way. I've got research lab Aether to go through next, which I'm not overly thrilled about, but if I want the thermal visor and the super missiles, I don't have much choice.

I might work on that later today, we'll see.

Thank you! This could help much! And it´s cool you can get plasma beam without sj and Spider Ball on PAl too. Anyway, in the first post of this topic, you called sequence breakers for help- and here it is- my Wavebuster no sj video. In my commentary i say that i´m MR.X here of metroid2002, because i have another username there. Anyway, to make it short:

Wow! Great video, I've heard you mention you'd done it in other threads, but I assumed it would need TBJs or HBJs, or something, not DBJMs!

That'll be a great help for when I get there as well, thanks.
Thanks! And, to your thanks: No problem. Of course it is MUCH easier to do with hbjs, but i can´t do them... dbjs are almost EXACTLY enough to get to the platforms so... your dbjs must be perfect!

EDIT: A few questions for pros. Would be nice if i got clear answers:

1. On gamefaqs it´s said you can get the Super Missile- but how??? There´s only said "climb up teh ledges" but how does it work??? Nothing except hbjs seem possible!

2. I´ve heard you can get the Gravity Suit without Space Jump- once again- aren´t there rooms which are not doable??? And IF it´s possible, then which rooms are hard and how can you do them???
With Super Missiles I imagine you would pick them up going through Pirate Research Lab Aether backwards, starting from the room with the thermal visor and working your way back through. And I can't remember most of the area leading to the gravity suit, I've only been there a few times, so I can't help you there.

yeah, if you do the main quarry shortcut you will be at the top of the room before grapple beam. from there a simple dash from the power trooper at the bottom allows you to reach the door.
As for my run I think I'll just restart and get the spider ball before entering phason mines. this will save me a lot of frustration.
unfortunately, Pal version has a lock on the door for Main Quarry so you can't do the shortcut, and I'm not sure, but there may be a forcefield there at first as well. They even put Bendezium rubble in front of the door to the grapple beam to try and keep SBers out.
ok so i was attempting to solve the room with the fision metroids just before metroid prime and boy does it look incredibly hard. ESPECIALLY for for a 21% if they get there. first off the fision metroid make it eextremely hard just to SOLVE the room even with spacejumps and all tanks. i havent really solved the problems jumps but iv found 3 possible solutions. all start off the same way. dbj to that first white toothy looking thing on the wall at the bottom and another to the next one. you can barely make it to the next ledge with a normal jump if you angle it right. once your at the very last white ledge here is where the 3 possibilities split. 1) lock onto a fission metroid and when it attacks jump in the corner where the bridge above you is. i think if it hits you just the right way w/o latching onto you, it can push you upwards onto the bridge. 2) jump to the first platform and to the next. DBJ to the next tho its really hard. maybe an hbj. now look at the center column in the middle of the room. there is sorta a spike lookin thing. DBJ to it and you can stand in the nich it creates. from here maybe an extremely hard wallTBJ is possible but i doubt any jump can be done, but maybe possible 3) upon solving different ledges i was struck by a fission metroid mid jump. it propelled me incredibly high and forward. i had to hold backwards just to land on the platform (it wasnt a far platform, i just needed height and i got alot of it) enough for me to think it possible to make all of the incredibly hard floating platforms. you would have to be insanely lucky over and over but maybe possible. it happened to me by freak accident. and no i dont know where it hit me besides somewhere behind me. HBJ's dont even look possible for some of the jumps nor do scandashes as they are too high. anyways once you reach the first bridge the rest of the ledges can most likely be done with some version of bombjumping or another. prolly only need DBJ's. the last ledge you can just scan dash to the top bridge and make your way through to fight metroid prime. hope you have enough energy left. i feel sorry for anybody who manages a 21% run with only 99 health.

Mr X-thanx for the vid. i was workin on that last night and i managed to get to almost get to the 3 set of bricks to destroy. platted puffers are just annoying. i guess there is no avoiding them. as for the super missles...make your way to the observatory and up the ledges and lay a bomb to extend the ledges. i think you have to do at least one tbj to get up there. once you extend the bridge you have to go ALL the way around and enter from the top door to collect the supermissle. you have to take th elevator from magmoor i beleive as you need the supermissle just to go through the backdoor normally.  the gravity suit can be achieved as well. there is only one ledge that you cant normal jump to. and bombjumps are out of the question. it really looks like you can make it as its not high at all but water weighs you down. you have to lock your view all the way down and get in right corner of the step against the wall and jump. you will barely make it. not sure exactly wich step it is but its just before the frozen fishes.

iowa-yeah that is prolly the best idea as i would hate to have to go through phazon processing w/o spiderball. i wouldnt do it.
Haven't read the whole topic, just the post nate linked me to and a couple before it, plus the first post. Skippy, I don't think I have done much more than I wrote about in the guide. I've been and I am more focused on the Echoes no-SJ game than I am on the Prime no-SJ game, so I'm not really sure what the max% to my knowledge is. I do know that I'm pretty sure you can get Warrior, if you're still having trouble with that. Just open the bridge extension and do a dash jump to the ledge. As for the thing about my guide, sure, go ahead and update it. I'm sure that I won't get around to that myself anytime soon.

Ya know something just hit me. For some of the items you need plasma for you can use infinite boost to get. Use the spot where you get the wave beam to get the artifact and the missle expansion in the big area after that. That should make an easy 2% more to your total.
Isn´t  a power bomb expansion under ice, which is only breakable with Plasma Beam not gettable with ib too???
Mr. Potter-first off i thank you for making that walkthrough. its what inspired me to do this and of course join a new community yay!  If i update that walkthrough will you be able to get it up on gamefaq? also yes craztad was able to solve warrior. i found it easier though to get ontop of the computers by the spinner and break open the boxes way below and dash from them. i thank bartendorsparky for that technique. i could never drag the items to the bridge and accurately aim the dash.

craztad-i dont know what infinite boost is. nor do i know which artifact your talking about.

mr x- yeah one is behind ice in one of the ice ruins. i just wonder if you can wak through any walls from the other side via secret worlds. iv come pretty close to the tank in transport access. BTW iv been meaning to ask...is that really you in that picture? cause thats one crazy beard.

though not ekard's video, this method is, imo, far easier:

I've always used a combat dash lock from a Puffer. And yeah, if you update the guide I'll resubmit it and credit you for the updating.

EDIT: sparky, didn't you say you can bomb jump to the location of the speed trick in whatever the third room in Impact Crater is at one point?
kyupi+yakisoba=win
Um don't worry about what i was tring to explain, i will just make a video tonight for ya after i get out of class in a couple hours. Infinite boost allows you too grab items that you aren't even close to but can also screw things up really badly if you don't unmorph into an elevator or a save station. Youll understand when i get the vid up.

Edit: Got the vid made but im converting it to avi at the moment so it will be a few.

Wow.  That scan dash that you showed us in FCS for NSJ helps me alot in my any%.  (2'nd dash)  That ghetto there , even w/ SJ can take up to three tries for me.  Should save me three to five seconds.  Thanks.
