That's one of the things that made Echoes less fun, too. In Prime, pretty much every area was connected to two or more areas. Echoes is, like, room-by-room-by-room all the way through.

Hunters slightly fixes that by the use of teleporters... Meaning once you activate them, you can get from the starting point to two other points instantly, which kinda makes it feel like the world has more starting points... but it's still damn linear.[/u]
Wasn't every area in Prime2 interconnected with every other area by elevators, with the late game option of traveling from every temple to any other (Light Suit)?
To be honest, I don't really remember where every elevator is and such, I only bothered to play the game once. But I know for a fact there's no Magmoor-like openish area (several elevators to both Phendrana and Tallon Overworld as well as the mines), and those were the ones that made Prime's level design feel so open-ended and realistic.

And the light suit thing doesn't count. That was so late in the game anyway.

all of the elevatorz in MP2 were at the ends of tunnels. alot of the MP elevators were in tunnels, giving you two paths to choose from (thats what it was like in MZM and SM and the original as well).

What did that have to do with anything?
Lazylen's making a point about what I said. In Echoes it's like... you come to an area, walk across the whole thing to an elevator, show up at the very corner of the next area area, walk across the whole thing to another elevator, repeat.

Whereas Prime, with its mid-corridor elevators, has a much more open feel to it, linking more areas together at more places.

I should stop posting in this thread now. I'm just repeating myself...
*is looking through some of the screenshots at ign* (and saving them all to my hd, but that's beside the point)

Does anyone have high-quality versions of the trailers lying around?
Ugh, seems to me that the MP2 style of firing missles is back, darn!
Hopefully, there will be a lot more enemies than just Space Pirates and their experiments. Good to see that the game is focusing around Phazon, w00t!!11 1!

Hopefully, they'll CHANGE THE ANIMATION OF THE PHAZON TO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING COOL INSTEAD OF A POOL OF BLUE THAT GIVES OFF RADIATION, like in MP.

Making it easier, huh? As if the Metroid Prime series were hard at all (the regular, non speed runs). I mean, me, a mediocre Metroid Prime player can beat Metroid Prime, the boos thats suppose to be the hardest, using less then 3 energy tanks (yah, I'm pretty bad). But it would be funny to face a boss so easy to kill that u can kill it without locking on, lol.
Look, witty text!
Well, considering the Wii's controller is so well suited for FPS games, it'll be no suprise if everyone and their dog beats MP3 without ever using the lock-on feature.
I run this here hotel of an evening
i wanna see a dog beat MP3, that'd be just great!

it would seem that the camera be hard to control, but i think the demo player just sucked somethin fierce, IMO

and Maur, the only hq vid i've seen is the entire demo at SCU.
if you haven't seen it, i'd highly suggest it.

also, i like the way the bombs look in this one. not that the others didn't look cool, but these look just awesome.

i wants MP3, preferrably first release, but that doesn't seem likely

hell, what i wanna do is get a Wii, MP3, and TP

the Wii will have the greatest launch titles in any Nintendo console ever made from the looks of it.

and it will be the first time there's no Mario-related game at launch at all (Luigi's Mansion was still within the mario franchise)

unless Wario Ware is a launch game too.

Or "Mario sets the VCR", a great action game for all!

Don't forget the fact that all of the previous mario games on the NES, SNES, N64 and Turbo Graphx will be there.
Mario was on the turbo graphx? I think your lieing! And what about genesis I love sonic!
Look, witty text!
He just mentioned the Turbografx because its games will be available on the Virtual Console.  There are no Mario games on the Turbografx.

The thing that's making heads explode like a ninja axe-wailing contest the most, though, is the fact that there will be Sega Genesis titles.  ...At least, it'd be easier to convince someone from 1492 that mankind will one day fly to the moon than it would be to convince someone from 1992 that mankind will one day play Super Mario World and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the same console.

...I swear, an RPG with a story that parallels the history of the gaming industry would be one of the greatest titles of its time.
Yeah I know that I just was being sarcastic but it's hard to express online but yeah the genesis will rock!

Ready and willing.
Not really. Nothing we haven't heard a million times by now.
Except that NONE of the Hunters from MPH are supposed to be involved with the game. :( (Unless Retro is being very sneaky about it,  that is.) I was looking forward to having a fight with Weavel, too...

Besides that, everything else I've heard in some way before. (I found it funny that the guys from Retro called themselves the most hardcore Metroid fans: What about us at M2K2 and SCU? laugh new)

Does SCU even exist anymore?

At any rate, I'm sure those guys are big Metroid fans, just in a different way than the folks here are.
And there had better not be any of the MPH hunters in Corruption ... I'd rather there not be any other bounty hunters besides Samus at all.
* MP3:C is set a few months after Echoes.
* The hunters from MP:H will not be in it.
* There are no current plans for cross-platform links between Hunters and Corruption.

Great Find!  As that linked PDF is ginormous, I've extracted just the page with the Corruption info here [2.7 MB PDF].

On a side note, the lastest issue of Nintendo Power says that the October issue will have Corruption as a feature story (source see update #20).  That's 2 months in a row that NP has called the game an FPS.  Grrr.

According to the smart tag, it does... ;)  :P

The only one from MPH I wanted to see was Weavel, because it would make a lot of sense to me since the Space Pirates have a larger role this time around.
