I say leave the patch the way it is.  I love this hack, and it helps with my boss skills (my main weakness) when speed running.  My time on my 2nd playthrough of this hack was 0:13.  not bad I guess  :P Couldn't find the last two items though.

Though Ridley could be hard, you'll only have 6 E-tanks there and no icebeam, and you'll loose 1 tank before he even appears. The best solution there would be to save all supermissiles you have till him... Plus the whole thing would have to be single segmented.

Why no ice beam? All it takes is a small bit of under-water WJing, the room with the ice beam can be exited with a crouch jump but to get to Botwoon, so underwater WJing is needed.

Besides, the underwater WJ will allow another Etank. How many Etanks does the eye beam take when samus is suitless?

Well talking about a unassisted suitless you would have a hard time getting ice and the E-tank, AFAIK very few can do unassisted underwater WJs, actually I don't know if anyone but P.JMan can do it.

The rainbow beam takes 7 tanks without variasuit, for some reason it does not check for gravity though so not having it makes no difference there.

I'm pretty sure the eye-beam takes 7 e-tanks without the varia suit.
some of the you-tube n00bs find that bit had when they think they dont need varia.
and end up backtracking to find more e-tanks.

Well, thats true. I managed to get halfway up between the height of samus's jump and the top of the ledge leading to Botwoon in 24% speed, but then messed up, and gave up. I did however find out something very interesting while messing around with that room to see about maybe making a suitless 48% possible that I'll definitely use in another hack:

If you go to do an underwater WJ when there is a treadmill block faced against the wall you're on, all you have to do for the WJ is hold the direction facing away from the wall and rapidly press the jump button.

Suitless run.

The high number of re-records were just for making it look nice and polishing it up for a bit.

This is definitely doable save-stateless, as the only part I used frame advance was the 1-wall-underwater-walljump.

Also, I take a hit while fighting Ridley.

I would have made a TAS, but I just don't have the time.  Enjoy.

Edit:  Cardweaver, if you want to see actual unassisted suitless runs for your hack, I would suggest releasing a new patch where the mochtroids are not locked behind a wall.  One could simply use the mochtroid glitch instead of UWWJing.

As you can see: my inner thought process=world's longest run-on sentence.

Anyway, I can easily release the patch for the free 'troids, I didn't have them free to begin with because originally, I had no beams available until after Phantoon, and I didn't know how much damage they dealt without looking. Expect the patch up sometime tomorrow, I'm sleepy right now.

Same here. Nice nice. If you don´t get many responses within 24 hours, that does not mean nobody´s watching.  =)

This is rather intriguing, I would also like to have the mochtroids available for getting to that door in Maridia. Then this will be the ultimate suitless boss training ground :)

Check the update on the first post about my IPS problems.

On another note, I have some details about Super Metroid: Playground.

It will have anywhere from 1 to 5 rooms (haven't quite decided yet), will contain an end boss, and will also contain a lot of interesting interactions with the physics in the game, including multiple ways to UWWJ unassisted. I have been experimenting with editing samus's suit, 'cause frankly the power suit is kinda lame, and its starting to look really good. With any luck, I'll have it done shortly before or after New Year's. I may even finish tomorrow, because its my last day of finals and I don't work tomorrow, so keep a eye out, but don't get your hopes up.
