My recording progress might come a little slow, because of school starting and me being busy with other things(i.e. life) Another thing that will be a problem is my SS run. 90% of the time I can't play for over an hour without having any interuptions, and the SS run will take around 1:10(real time)to complete. My little siblings will do something(i.e. decide to jump on me, or throw something at me) or my mom will tell me to get off so I can take out the garbage or something like that.

I will try to find a way to get them to leave me alone so that I can do atleast one SS try every few days, but my mom will likely say something along the lines of: "video games are not more important than this." I'll do my best to get a no pause SS run, but it will be hard. Would it be okay if it had only a few pauses in it, and if they were really long nate could put something like"Ten minutes later" just wondering.
I've dealt with that on my SS runs on occasion. Just been lucky enough to never have it in a GOOD run  :P

Honestly, I wouldn't think it's a big deal. Stuff happens that ya can't control, and if it's a long pause I'm sure Nate can come up with something creative  Wink

On another note: I managed to make it to Ridley-X on my 1% single segment run...I killed him too but died to the Core-X cuz I took a few too many hits from Ridley Crying or Very sad
How long did it take to get to Ridley?
When I rewound the tape it was at like 1:30 or so. I don't know the in game time...just that I managed to beat Nightmare and Ridley without dying (I loathe the CORE-X  Evil or Very Mad )

That's pretty good, I think that's about :40/:50 ingame or so... maybe even less. Adam takes up loads of time.
Hope you get a good time with your run! I've been working on my first segment, but no luck so far. I've got most everything down, but the evil eye doors aint cooporating with me. I'm going for a max of two shots. It seems like when I do bad, they don't shoot. When I do good, they shoot. I swear they are doing it on purpose.....
Haha, that sounds like what Kraid does on my MZM runs...how good my run is is indirectly proportionate to how good my Kraid battle is  :P

Here's my current stats:
(Place where I died: Taped Time - Deaths - Success rate)
Blobs in Sector 2: 15 minutes - 1 death - 97% success
Serris: 25 minutes (fell in the water on the Core-X) - 2 deaths - 93% success
Ice-X in Sector 6: 35 minutes - 1 death - 96% success
Mega-X: 35 minutes - 7 deaths - 72% success
Space Pirate Gauntlet: 60 minutes - 1 death - 94% success
Yakuza: 65 minutes - 11 deaths - 35% success
1 hit kill Wasps: 65 minutes - 2 deaths - 67% success
Nightmare: 75 minutes - 3 deaths - 25% success
Ridley: 90 minutes - 1 death (died to the Core-X! ARRRRGGGGHHHH!) - 0% success
Total attempts: 29
yeah, definitely do not use the "full screen" setting. not sure if you can see how much it distorts the picture or not, but it's just not a good idea imo. and thanks for reminding me to put that in the faq.

well, i've been totally raped by the cable company, as i expected, so it could be a few more days before i'm back online. try to hold things together until then, i guess. i have faith in you. ;P
Wow, DD, that's alot of SS attempts in just a few days. Your very persistant. Another question I have about recording is; In both nate's and WD's runs, at the beggining of each part, you both select headphone sound. Is there any special reason to do this?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I just finished a SS run and got 57 :x . I'm really good at the beggining---save before giant plant(because that's what I've been practicing)But the rest of the run is pretty much crap. Another thing that made it crappy is that, in the middle of the run, I got a phonecall. So I was talking on the phone while doing the run. Very bad idea. I think I'll mostly work on my segmented run so I can "relearn" the rest of the game, and then I'll do more SS's.

At times like this you must really hate the Cable Company. The best way to check the internet is at the library. :?
It's like 4 or 5 days worth of runs. I know Yakuza is REALLY starting to get on my nerves...I just can't seem to find a reliable tactic for taking him down. I almost have better luck with Nightmare (there's only 1 thing he does now that still throws me off). Mega-X is also a royal pain...I have a decent strategy (in terms of being where and when and shooting) but it's a pain to always pull off.
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.

"Headphone mode" is actually stereo mode; it's only called that because before the GBP the only way to get stereo sound out of a GBA would be headphones.
I just beat fusion for the first time in 2 hours, 48%. Yes its not the best but its my first time through the game. yeah and i beat it on my computer.
Wow, that's really good for your first time! was it two hours exactly? My first time was somewhere around 5:00..........
2 hours exactly.
I had about 3 hours my first time.
My first file... I don't remember.
My brother's first file...  Twisted Evil

He had 20:22 on the clock.

EDIT: Time for another week of speedrnning.
Wish me luck.
Well, I kept on doing horrible in the first segment, and since I'm not saving at the beggining of sector two, or right after giant plant, I went ahead and saved at the first save point on main deck. I'm only about 0.4  seconds slower than possible(unless some weird trick is found in beetween the start and that savepoint) and I have 0:00. The next save will be right before giant plant.
I might know something that saves 0.4 seconds. I'm not really sure if it saves any time at all. But I'll explain it anyway.

In the first shaft before the save point, Sess did a wall jump off the right wall, grabbed the ledge, climbed up and jumped to the door.

I noticed (inspired by Sess's Sector 2 trick) that you can wall jump off the ledge/floor above you, then the wall, then the top part of the silver platform, and land next to the door.

I think that it would be very difficult to determine which is faster.
Well.... If I'm going to ever finish, or even begin, this run of mine, I have to add a save somewhere between "right before missiles" and "beggining or SRX"... But if I do that, most of the time gained by getting a perfect boss door + battle will be lost.....

Oh, well. I think I'll add a save anyway.
And that walljump thing should be a time saver.

Ummm... You know after the first save room, right before the elevator?
If you use a walljump on the door you come out from you can get higher on your first jump. This should save a bit less than a second since you don't need to grabb a ledge to get up on 2 jumps. And walljumps get distance faster than normal jumps anyway.

I'm going to check for more nice walljumps in SRX/Main Deck as I keep on trying to get a good segment.... Oh, well, now I'll go back to.... FFXI.

You might want to save at the first savepoint on main deck, but do it after you beat arachnis on your way back to the first nav room.
Well, I decided that saving where I saved isn't a very good place to save, and neither is the savepoing specified above. I erased what I did, and decided for the first part to end at the first savepoint in SRX. I just got the first part done last night. It doesn't even have two seconds worth of mistakes(estimated 1.7)and one eye door shot. I kept the eye door shot because the boss did not roll around at all, and I collected the big X on my first jump to grab it. I'm saved with 3 in SRX, and when I load it, it doesn't change to four until I get to the room with all the hornoads(after clearing first atmospheric stabilizer). Finally, done with the first part, and on to number two!
awesome. good to see a fusion update.
You want updates do ya?  Wink

Mine's simple. I needed a break from the 1% single segment (patience is a virtue for this...and Yakuza was trying mine to no end) so I've been plahying other games in the meantime to relax.

And slightly off topic (well not really since it's an UPDATE):
My 57:06 100% Normal MZM tape was sent out this afternoon. The guy at the post office said it "should" arrive Monday.
ah, excellent. you sent it to the texas address, right?
