So you were mock balling through that room to get the ice beam?  I think it makes a little more sense to get on your way out.
Im on summer vacation now so hopefully i can get my time to an hour or below by the end of summer.

Yeah I was mockballing to the ice beam immediately after getting the varia, then to go back through the room i just mockballed through I would put a bomb by the ceiling to go above the barriers, then head to the hi-jump, then speed booster, etc.  Other than that it was the same order as Sup4rL3g1t.

I finally play Super Metroid.
I am rusty:

I make two SS-run both end up 0.48 minutes.
My best single segment time is 45 minutes. I make that many months ago.

My first 48 run looks overall very horrible, but there is no much big mistakes. Second run was overall much better, but unluckily there was some very big mistakes:

-I miss Kraid quick kill and barrier glitch took me over 2 minutes.
-As well first run i have trouble go throug barriers, but this was still 30 seconds faster IMO.
I wish I didn't stop speedrunning as a kid, 'cause since I found these forums a year or two ago, I could've put these glitches to good use when I still had TIME to practice speedrunning. Now being 19 yrs. old and in college. It's a little tough to play as much as I want to now. But I do recall my last best time, using some of the glitches here, about a year or two ago. On a 100% run I scored a time around 1:15. Not bad since I was rusty then, and using a route inconsistent with the fastest times and only a few of the glitches.
Im 19 and I still have time to speed run.  What about now during the summer or during down time while you're in college.  Thats what I did.  I didn't get to play as much as I wanted to but I still lowered my time although it took me much longer to do so.
I can still practice speedrunning now, although I'm restricted to ZSNES right now since all my stuff had to get moved out in order to fix the house from tornado damage.

As for my first year of college, my roomate pretty much used the tv all frickin' day, everyday. So no SNES then. There are many many more reasons why I'm not having a roomate next year, but that explains my speedrunning predicament. Hopefully, I can get things sorted out a little better next time.

HOWEVER, the main problem is SELF-motivation. I'm no longer self-motivated to do speedruns, although I imagine if I kept going when I was younger I would still be running. That and there are other games now that I'm attracted to playing. I still have a small feeling of wanting to speedrun, but the rest of me is...careless. :(

Just broke my record again for real-time 100% run:  1:11 !

Took multiple tries because I refused to use save states, and several tricks can be difficult to pull off the first try (like kraid quick kill!)

This is nice week :-)

I got two personal single segment records with this game:

Best time single segment: 0.44 (PAL)
Best time 100% single segment: 1.09 (PAL)

Both runs is one minutes better than my previous run. Both runs is done well enought.

**COMMENT MY ANY-% SS RUN***
Overall many things working.
Mistakes:
-Kraid quick kill was almost done, but i accidentally miss last missile his mouth.
-Speedtrick in green Norfair, took me 15 seconds too much. I mess up it some times
-Phantoon fight was slow 4 round. I have bad luck against him
-Barrier glitch took again too much. I think it cost me 30 seconds. I miss it three times.

-I use murder beam against MB. I know my time is very high 44 minutes. I was happy i beat my great previous record and i lose only one minutes my segmented run. Many things working well enought. Many my SS run end up 46-48 minutes finally i got amazing 44 min. I think if i can fix my major mistakes i can get at least 43 minutes, but i really need at least 50-59 seconds faster run so my time can drop.

**COMMENT MY 100% RUN*******

-This run was overall even cooler than my any-% run, but i make one SO HORRIBLE MISTAKE :x
I FALLING DOWN IN GOLDEN TORIZO ROOM WHEN I TRYING PICK UP M-EXPANSION. This large mistake cost me about 2 minutes. Caused me horrible backtrack.

-Second big mistake was when i again miss kraid quick kill, but luckily kraid still was pretty fast.
-Phantoon fight was totally amazing. I got fast 4 round battle.
-Many trick working very well too.

I was still happy my run. Without large mistake in norfair my run can end up 1.07.
My best segmented run is 1.05. This one is 4 minutes slower.
How do you memorize so many tricks in so many games and get such good times  Shocked

Gave good ol' SM another shot.

24% in 50 mins

Reason it took so long? I kept the blue suit from Draygon all the way up until the escape. Silly me.
Only have my records from 2005, but now in the mood for new runs.

You can make more runs in future. I first time hear somebody else run 100% PAL runs. Peoples are mostly interested speedruns any-% runs.

I always strive for 100%.  For some reason I feel like it doesn't count unless you get everything.  Nightcom, which order did u get the items on your 100% run?    I'd like to beat my 1:11 time.

Which give you most trouble?

You can get easily 5-6 ET +1 RT MAX without losing much time.
I always pick up 5 ET MAX. Sometimes on single segments run i pick up 1 RT too.

Hotarubi run he pick up only 4 ET this make speedrunning very hard. It is always recommend you can pick up more than 4 ET if you don,t have master skills. 4 ET make game mostly very cautions. 5 ET +RT make your game much easier.

It may be the extra missiles and supers that I pick up.  In my last run, I had 6 ET, 7 MP, 3 SM, 1 PB, and no RT, and used save states, feeling like most of my moves through each level were pretty concise.  I think a lot of the problem I have with hovering at :54 stems from my long boss battles.  I can't beat Phantoon or Draygon very fast at all.  Ridley isn't too much of a problem, I can usually beat him quickly.  I usually beat Phantoon in like 6-7 turns, but Draygon takes forever for me to beat.  I think if I can speed up those boss battles, I can be under :50.  Any tips?
Unfortunately, using savestates automatically makes your time illegitimate.
Hated by all
Hi-percent run time was 76% in 85 minutes (tried to beat my brother's 70% in 90 minutes, but I can't live against Draygon and Ridley with 4 E-Tanks).

A question of standards. People in this thread want to know how the others fare in the game in a way it's played on a console or a faithful emulation thereof, which is the actual purpose this thread has been created for; using any additional tools puts you in a completely different league — that of the TAS producers (where you're being severely outclassed, unfortunately). For your information, getting under 35 minutes with savestates alone isn't that hard at all if you know how the game and its tricks work.

If you care to post your achievement, at least make sure you at least understand the place you're doing it in, and label it accordingly. Basically all the times before and after yours have supposedly been achieved without using tools, you're expected to do likewise.
