old bird wasn't her father figure, it was more of a master than a father...

my god, he is a giant inteligent chicken!
no way in hell samus would see him as her father...

Only thing I can think of is that while Old Bird and Gray Voice were important to her, they're not exactly human now, are they? Adam is the first of her own species that she sees as a father figure other than her own father who she knew for only three years when she was young. Entirely different personalities and mindsets between Chozo and Humans, and the fact that Samus is essentially part of both parties probably didn't help her very much to try and fit in and be accepted by either.

Eh, maybe not the best explanation, but I'm kinda speculating here. Other stories have done it before.

Didn't Samus call old bird "father" in the manga?  I'm pretty sure she did.  Also in the manga, Samus never served directly under Adam.

But we can discuss a whole lot of "continuity" errors about Other M and the manga in another thread probably.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
You don't understand. Old Bird was a bird, he can't be a father to a human because he is a large bird. Samus needed a manly man to set her straight. Like ~Adam~ wub
I don't know about you, but I got the impression that Samus was going after Ian, not Adam.  She had similar reactions to both of them, if you recall.

Not what I meant at all. I'm just saying that there is a difference between the way the Chozo raised her and how other humans would view her in their society. Different perspectives from different races. From what I understood, Adam, Ian, and Anthony were among the first to accept her after she left the Chozo, so to me it makes sense that she'd form a bond with them more than anyone else.

Yeah, my first post comes off like I'm suggesting the Chozo can't be father figures now that I see it again, but still, I think people are playing up the whole Adam thing a little too much in some cases. What's so wrong about her looking up to him in the first place?

People are seeing 'looking up to' as 'yes, master, I will obey'.
Other M makes Old Bird sad. And no one needs to see a sad bird-man.

I know, I was just having a little fun. I actually held off until another person posted to try and make sure it didn't look directed at your post.

There's looking up to someone and there's being kind of a tool, in my mind limiting your abilities until some such dude says otherwise to prove you can take orders is leaning toward the tool side. More so when you work independently of that guy anyway. I mostly exaggerate it for the fun of it since I haven't played through the game yet, but all of the examples I've seen thus far have been silly. When you're intentionally burning yourself half to death just because some dude hasn't told you not to you're just being dumb. I can understand limiting Power Bombs and even Missiles to an extent, you don't know what you might break throwing high explosives around after all, but protective measures and mobility upgrades? I'm not seeing the justification. Those could only help you do your job better.

Most of it just seems like an attempt to humanize a character that didn't really need it, honestly, and going about it the wrong way or just not really knowing how to do it. They took a character that was perceived, rightly or not, as strong and independent and made them appear weak and submissive and so stereotypically female. It's an odd decision, you can't tell me no one involved with the series was aware of the general interpretation of the character.
Bird-Grandpa was a total pedo freak.
The Chozo look retarded.  At first, I imagined them to all look similar to the Torizo, which look cool, but when I realized that they were literally no more than fatass pidgeons, I was disappointed.  I hope if they ever actually appear in a game they actually look cool.

The Chozo originally looked like the Torizo.

They also used to be able to fly.

They just evolved past those necessities since.

they should retcon this game by saying that it was a bad dream and that Adam died in combat while Samus was in some mission.
You could say she went crazy in the Epilogue.

Because she couldn't help him because she was frozen with PTSD again.

Time bomb set get out fast!
It's not just the freakout, it's the severity of it. I think the Ridley scene would have been a lot less controversial if she'd frozen just for a second, long enough for him to waste Anthony, and then gotten a grip. But losing control of her suit (something we've never seen her do before) and then letting him carry her around... that's another story.

Was I high, or was Samus' suit flickering because Ridley was poking at it with his tail for some weird reason?

Also - what is 'CG' ?

Sure, it may be very severe, but then it comes back to the 'I dropped a freaking planet on you' argument.  She killed him and blew up the planet his corpse was on.  She never did that before, and at the start of the game she seemed so relieved about the idea of him being space dust.

Yeah I saw that in the cutscene too, like her suit was disappearing and stuff kinda. It's on youtube if you wanna see it again.
