Oh. Does anyone HAVE the gth video? :P
Also, the IBJ with floaty jump video I have is different because IBJ with floaty jump gives you infinite time to pause.
I believe nate still has it on his system somewhere. probably just need to ask nicely cause it was there back when me and craztad looked through his collection.
Well if/when/however you get it, send it to me or if you can upload it to the collection. Also, try to record Artifact of Wild without SJ please ;)

Hi everyone! I'm kinda new here... don't know much about sequence breaking, so please excuse my ignorance :)  Just a heads-up, when referring to Metroid Prime, I will ALWAYS be talking about the North American (not Player's Choice) version of the game.

I have a question...  I respect all your hard work and research into clearing the game without the Space Jump Boots, but I was wondering...  Would a 21% game also be possible by skipping the X-ray Visor?  Or do you need the Visor to damage the Omega Pirate?  I was reading on another topic, called something like "Infinite Possibilities," where you can use a special glitch with a door and the Morph/Boost Ball to gain the ability to mess around with the cutscenes...  I think someone might have used it to skip the Omega Pirate battle.  So if you can't damage the Omega Pirate without the X-ray visor, can you skip the fight all together and still get the Phazon Suit without the X-ray Visor?  And if you can somehow skip the X-ray Visor, then if you skip the Space Jump Boots...  do you have a 20% game?!
One shall stand, one shall ball.

You do.

Aw man!

I'm going to look into that "Infinite Possibilities" topic, see if I can use that glitch.  Hopefully...  it just might work :)  I'll post something if I turn anything up.
You need boost ball to do IS which would just make for an easier 22% game.

So it's basically pointless...  Getting the Boost Ball for a chance at skipping the X-ray Visor.

I shouldn't have even said anything.  I tried skipping the Spider Ball and I'm stuck at the Furnace :(  Hopefully, someday I'll get better.
Furnace is easy. Push your face into the left side of the track and jump.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
look for the correct angle if you have trouble. there's an angle where samus will climb the track by walking. that's how i get past furnace regularly.

Oh...  okay.  I'm gonna try the rest of the run again.  I kinda...  messed up :)  Thanks, everyone!

EDIT: Has everything for a 21% game been figured out already? :(

main thing to do when glitching up spider tracks is to *not* hold l. just push against the left side, rotating the stick a little bit at a time until you find the right angle.
Everything for a 21% game has been figured out. Nobody's anywhere near close to doing it though.

yep, i've heard that from a few people. i've yet to see any vids proving it though.

what? you never finished sending me stuff iirc. if i'm supposed to do something then you should probably let me know that.

edit:
this is the last i can find from you:

Save for encoding the videos and you coding the pages, you can say the 21% section is done. I don't know what the deal with GTH's video is, but it will be solved soon enough, and we should probably gear up anyways.

sweet.
Plasma was solved? The last thing I remember is sparky hitting a bump in Magmoor Workstation, trying to enter a secret world by bomb jumping off a frozen Aerotrooper and not quite making it.

Incidentally, if anyone has the whole route down somewhere, I'd love to hear it. Space Jump is so ingrained in my mind as a given item that I wouldn't know where to start figuring it out.

Everything is there... you just have to encode. I do not posses anrichan so you'll have to do that.... but everything's there.
So, I've been trying out 21% on Dolphin, mostly to show that all these tricks can, in fact, be strung together into a run.  Don't expect me to post a TAS or something since Dolphin's recording abilities are rather poor at the moment, but the savestates work well enough.  Which is good, since that's pretty much the only way I'd ever pull this off.

Anyways, I'm currently coming back from the Power Bombs (after which I'm going to go for Plasma...), and I'm stuck in Vent Shaft.  So far, the best I've managed is to get samus's knees level with the edge on unmorph.  So, any tips?

so you're testing on an emulator to prove it's possible on console?

Emulate this

Take that timing and program it into dolphin? Easy solution

I'm testing it on an emulator to prove it's possible at all.  Dolphin's rerecording abilities are currently non-functional, but one day they will be, and it's always good to know a 21% TAS is doable before you actually start it.  Also, anything that's possible on an emulator is possible on console.  Significantly harder? Often yes, but possible nonetheless.

Also, thanks for the video.  Unfortunately, it's not quite as easy as just programming the timing in, but it gives a better idea of what I'm doing wrong.

Basically, you have to put the first bomb a bit higher that it's usually put, and place the next one directly above it so they're spaced perfectly (like OO) and then place the next ones at a very even interval (very early in the ascent) after that. I've done it a couple times, and each time it looked EXACTLY the same, so there's probably not much room for error.
Also, don't forget that the unmorph has to be timed perfectly. You can perform a perfect bomb jump but if you unmorph too early or too late you won't make it.
