While the discussion of finding the possibility of skipping Varia happens, I'm gonna go back to OP and see if there is still is any possibility of damaging him. :D Wish me luck!
ok so I don't post much, but I read some... and this one seems important. However, since I'm not running this game srlsy myself there is some lack of overview here, I have to admit.
So, does this pretty much solve 20% / or what else is left besides that 1 SW? (actually I thought it has been done already)
a twin fires sw would solve 20% (assuming that that transport access sw is possible). a phazon mines/tallon overworld elevator + magmoor workstation sw would solve it as well.
actually, not a troll. I'm being serious. Even though I haven't been a part of the forums here, I've been trying to figure out a way to skip X-Ray for a long time

Sadly i'm not that young anymore... where has my childhood gone! oh yeah... x-ray visor skip....
I know this has been re-capped a dozen times but i feel it's time to do it again.
We are focusing on skipping the Varia suit.
Items: • Missiles • Morph Ball • Bombs • IBBF for Ice Beam • Enter Magmoor from Tallon Overworld • T3's Twin Fires Tunnel dash • itsPersonnal's Twin Fires secret world {A} • Wallcrawl to Plasma Beam • Secret world in Geothermal Core via not raising the roof • Wallcrawl to Phendrana by Thardus • Secret world in Transport Access {B} • Wallcrawl to Wave Beam • Back through Magmoor Workstation, Reflecting Pool, Great Tree Hall • Proceed through the Mines for Power Bombs • Back to Great Tree Hall for X-ray Visor • Go through the Mines again for Phazon Suit
{A} itsPersonnal mentioned in this post that he may have found the right place to clip through the wall. Unfortunately the video is gone, but he did upload a picture. I will be investigating this location when i have the time.
{B} I've heard rumors that this has been done. I don't know if there's any videos or other evidence though.
{A} The heat protection that the Phazon Suit provides is required.
{B} I'm not completely certain how this works. Will we beat Flaahgra using the genius method, escape through the secret world, acquire floaty jump, and then ibj up through Sun Tower to get the Artifact?
{C} I've heard that it's possible to get this artifact without Power Bombs by using a secret world in Great Tree Chamber. Maybe Power Bombs are the next item on the list for a 19% run...?
Looks to me that the Twin Fires secret world is the only thing holding us back... I'm going to look into that.

No one has ever clipped out of bounds in Twin Fires. There are other people who have found "potential" clips, but to my knowledge none of them work.

You don't actually need to fight Flaahgra for this, you could also wallcrawl from Gathering Hall past the fight and then get inbounds to do the IBJ for early Wild

5 rooms where pbs are required under low% conditions: phendrana's edge (spirit), elite research (phazon elite), life grove (you could maybe get back oob without sj, would require some insane bomb jumps), mqa, fga (both mqa and fha could possibly be skipped if you could wallcrawl past that vertical door at omega research). obviously spirit and the phazon elite are huge road blocks here.

i've always wondered, where exactly is the ghost trigger? is it just some horizontal plane in the air that you have to touch? does it extend oob? i've never really looked into this.
edit: actually there are 2 more places pbs are required: central dynamo (requires wallcrawling past that vertical door in omega research), room before magmoor workstation (would require you to exit phazon mines via the front which would require you to climb gth from the bottom without sj)
The ghost trigger extends out of bounds a little, if you jump at the room and wiggle down the wall you can activate it. Once it's been hit, you can never get Varia.
A bit off topic, but how much of the varia skip would already be possible in an any% run? is 4 tanks enough for plasma beam before flagara? Can you get the energy tank in magmore workstation to make the varia dash easier, or is that room heated?
I'm missing two critical breaks (IBBF and Sunchamber without spider ball) so I cant do the run myself. (I'm also embarrasingly bad at Twin fires tunnel)
