I think the main difficulty is just that they are sooooooo long, and usually done single-segment (every game except TWW, I think.  MM is segmented now, but TSA plans to change that).  Also, there are some pretty tricky things you have to master and you have to do a whole ton of memorization.  I have never done one, though, and I am sure TSA could provide examples of stuff, but he comes here, like... never.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It's the lack of speed increasing tricks that make Zelda Speed Running hard, you have to know every dungeon backwards and forwards, and try to move faster than the speed of run pretty much the whole time.

Please stop talking about things you know nothing about.

And the only real reason most of the Zelda runs are SS is because they're TSA's, and he's a SS freak. (He does do segmented when it's his first run or so with an unfamiliar game for speedrunning for him.)
I have seen the User name TSA on fourms and IIRC before but i don't really know who he is and that he even speed runed for Zelda game stange he seem very Familiar though.

actually, i was referring to the fact that he posted a thread with the title 'loz: tp sub-70 run' or some such (at this point it says 10).  he was, until this point, unfazed by any claims about the game's length (though speedruns rarely have much to do with such claims).

but yeah, i think most people are way overreacting.  at 1up.com there were all these posts that basically said, 'i'm so mad zelda is not going to be here as early as i'd hoped, that i won't play it at all!'  which makes very little sense.  it's possible that that's what tsa is worried about, that the delay will piss people off enough that they won't want to buy zelda games anymore.  on the other hand, i really do think that tsa is insane, so maybe that's it.

It can't be hard to do Zelda speed runs. Maybe I can like, be better than this TSA guy and get invited to discuss the Revolution's zelda in a few years time. I dout there is any need for 3bsj's in TP.

well, zelda speed runs do include length as a major factor for difficulty, but the fact is that just because the game isn't too hard to just play, speed-running it is far different.  tsa seems to indicate that the amount of time he's played ocarina is longer than the amount of time i've spent playing anything.  or everything combined.

i can't say i'm surprised, but the gaming community is taking this really poorly.  go cantonbags!  right on.
The only thing that annoys me is that the Japanese and US launches are simultaneous and so I can't import the Japanese one before the US release and feel smug. :P  Seriously, though, I'm not bothered by this at all.  I have enough going on already.  I'll enjoy it when it comes, whenever that is, and if it's next year that will make it easier for me to take time off and play it.

The SDA thread title was sub-10 when I first saw it, though I know it changed at least once before then.  I rather doubt it said 70 as that would be rather obvious.

oh, well you can check the posts whose subjects were not edited but i believe they do read '70'.

at any rate, yeah, i'm not in any rush, just as i won't be in any rush to 'finish' when it comes out.  i'll just take my time and hopefully enjoy an awesome game.
D'oh, you're right.  I hate making mistakes like that. >_<  Though I was correct that it made no sense, since it was a typo.

You sure about that?  My recollection is that there was the Spaceworld 2000 demo, which showed realistic Link fighting realistic Ganon, very pretty, and maybe some stills were taken from that video as "screenshots".  But I don't recall that being actually announced as "the next Zelda", although that was perhaps not an unreasonable assumption.

Right, that's what I was refering to. Many, many people (I included) thought that the next Zelda game would include graphics in that style. Why wouldn't it?

That "demo" was actually meant for SSB (supposedly).

This delay has angered me! I finish school this year, and everytime I thought about how hard the work was, I just imagined myself playing Zelda over the Christmas holidays without a care in the world. It looks like this will never be.

However, it is good they are taking mroe time to polish the game. OOT was delayed for a long time. It's one of those situations you KNOW is for the best, but that doesn't make it any less infuriating.

TSA actually was a moderator for the ninty forums until he quit.

It was a tech demo.  Nothing more.

If that is true, then then TP will be better than the Migma roaster known as the Revolution.

Man, I was really looking forward to getting TP on my Birthday (Which is in December.) and then playing it for the whole of the Christas holidays. Well, that dream is ruined, and all egt it either in June of next year or sometime before then if I save up money....T_T

Eyes burn? Why? ... it's just a gray square.

because subsilver is so bright when you're in the basement of your house with the lights turned off.

'Kay, let's stay at least somewhat on-topic. Can take this converstation to the Sig Image/Avatar topic if you want.
Ok, okay.  Can you delete or move my post?

ARK EDIT: Deleted, since you asked. This version of php doesn't allow us to move posts like that. Just make a new post there.

well I was speculating with some friends about ZTP and we all think that it'll launch with the revoultion because it is being delayed. . . nintedo has done this before (look at how mario 128 all of a sudden  became a revolution title. . . ) seeing as the revolution is coming out in 2006 and nintendo ants the make sure the revolutin sells, I wouldn't put it past them to do this. i. . . in fact I thnk that's exactly what they'll do to try and sell more revolutions
Well, it'll give me a good excuse to buy a Revolution (especially since MP3 is supposed to come out for it?).  I just hope they reconsider making it non-HD and possibly giving it DVI and digital audio ports (c'mon people, you know you want it).

Well, that really apply since Super Mario 128 was never a game, until recently  Rolling Eyes

Ok, why does everyone think that just because this game is being delayed that it instantanously means that its for the Revo? Nintendo has NEVER said it would be for it, and plus, whats the point? It would sell more on the GCN anyway, because people actually have bought it and dont need to spend another 200+ dollors for a new game system. Also, people have already pre-paid for this game, and they arent just going to cut them off saying, "Hey, you cant pay for this, since you need a Revolution." Also, they said they were adding content, not reworking the grphics for a Revolution port. That would take even MORE time to do, and its just not worth it when the picture is already drop-dead gorgeous.

I'm sorry, but everyone at SCu thinks this too, and its just like, no! And i cant seem to drill it into their minds... Rolling Eyes
