Zelda: Twilight Princess Delayed to Spring 2006
Dev team requests extra time to improve game quality.
by Che Chou, 08/16/2005
Strange as it may seem, but it's 1:00AM and we've just received an email from Perrin Kaplan, VP of Marketing and Corporate Affairs over at Nintendo of America, officially stating that Zelda: Twilight Princess will be delayed until sometime after March 31, 2006.

Thread title:
Doesn't surprise me much these days when some games get delayed. (Mostly when Blizzard has to do it)

Anything that can make Zelda better is good with me. Too bad it'll take another 4 months to have it come out though. :(
I'd rather have them swallow their pride and postpone the release date so they can improve the game rather than releasing a mediocre game as soon as possible. It would have been such a long time for it to be released anyway so I can't say this affects me.

And your picture is broken.
yeah, because we know what happens when people release rushed games.
in the name of justice!
if this is true (and i would certainly believe rs) that is well beyond incredible.  i mean, it's good that they want to take time to make the game better (as few people do) but when you think about it...

this is nintendo's biggest thing since...well, long before this generation...and the holday release schedule just seemed so killer.  sure, metroid prime was huge, but i doubt it matches up the anticipation for this game.  i pretty much missed the n64 generation, but i've always just assumed the last 'big' game nintendo had was mario 64, maybe zelda: ocarina of time.
Would you prefer Duke Nukem Forever? 8 years and no release date!
in the name of justice!
hey, quality can only go so far.  but as long as it isn't delayed until revolution...like half a dozen other games...

ive got one word: http://darthno.ytmnd.com/
ok i apologize for not being 'hip with teh zelda thang', but why is this game so much 'bigger' than the n64 zeldas or ww? is it because link is manly and sexy in this one? and is there any legitimate reason why this could possibly be a bad thing in the long run, considering the crap echoes was, virtually certainly because it was rushed?

Yes, sadly.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Can't say I'm surprised by the delay, pretty much every Zelda game gets delayed at least once.

I have no problem with the delay, whatsoever. Actually, I think it's a very good idea. If they need more time, they need more time. It's going to be awesome.

And Nate, yeah, that's basically it. As you probably know: people loved OoT (and MM, but not as much :(), and when a new Zelda game was announced for the GameCube a few years ago, some awesome screenshots were released, having a very realistic-looking Link and some awesome realistic graphics. Then, Nintendo made the switch to cel-shading, which fans were very dissapointed about. After WW was released, people quite liked it; it's just that now they want a game with a style more similar to OoT, the game that they were first showed back in 2002. And now they're getting it.
Yeah, it's better that they want the time to improve it, rather than need the time in my opinion.
everybody knows it's true
I knew that end of 2005 was too good to be true

You sure about that?  My recollection is that there was the Spaceworld 2000 demo, which showed realistic Link fighting realistic Ganon, very pretty, and maybe some stills were taken from that video as "screenshots".  But I don't recall that being actually announced as "the next Zelda", although that was perhaps not an unreasonable assumption.

I too loved OoT, but the realistic style of the upcoming one continues to leave me cold.  I guess it seems to exclude the possibility of the fun, not-excessively-dark style of most of the previous games in favor of adding Link to the angsty teenager lineup.  I think I'd rather he stay 12 or younger...am I the only one who liked OoT's Child Link better than Adult Link?

Link, why must you elude me?! I've been having such a crappy day, with my lizard dieing and all, and I'm sorry but the first thing i thouht was "Why?"  Crying or Very sad

Yes, i know that this delay is probably a good thing. The TP team is probably busting their butts right now to make this game wonderful, and they just need more time to develop the rest of the game. Its amazing that they need this much extra time though, and it makes me wonder just what are they planning. Also, this is the most anticipated game i have seen ever, and i know alot alot of people are not going to be happy about this. Even if it is a smart move of Nintendos part to make the game the best it can be.

Oh, and stunningly beautiful new screens. Check out the water rendering in the first one.  Shocked

Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I hate when people refer to OoT as "the realistic Zelda." Please show me which part of that game was based on real life, because I'd really like to see it.

I think they say that because the game was the first Zelda game to step into a more mature, photorealistic environment. Of course the entire game is completely fantasy and far from real, but it was much more tangible. The same is true for Twilight Princess, where its not really going to be based on real life, but it looks so real that you feel you can just reach out and touch the Zelda world.
Well, I'm dissapointed that I have to wait 'til the fall of 2006 for it, but they're doing it for a good reason.  And anyways, didn't OoT get delayed for two years?  It's not considered by some to be the many game ever.  I sincerely think that the game'll be pushed to the Rev.  If not, it might be bundled with the Rev, promoting the new system's backwards compability(sp?).

I'm not too bothered by the delay, though.  I'll be busy with my DS until then anyways.
it will not be delayed until the revolution.
everybody knows it's true
Holy crap, that's right. The question now is which one would you get?

Right, that's what I was refering to. Many, many people (I included) thought that the next Zelda game would include graphics in that style. Why wouldn't it?

Tooz: I didn't mean "realistic" as in, based on real life; I meant "realistic" as in, the graphics were the most realistic-looking of any Zelda game to date (and still are, along with Majora's Mask's).
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Yeah, but Toozin plays words games and tries to shut down that too.

Anyway, MM was fairly dark too.
I did say "most".
