Aye, they're all around the same difficulty, but the NES Metroid's limitations make it the hardest be quite a bit.
And chalk up another vote for NES Metroid.  Starting with 30 energy every time you start up is pure madness.  Plus the fact that you can't crouch makes this the most challenging IMO.

That's an important point. The limited controls make many older games even more difficult than they should be. That and the learning curve (really a cliff wall in this case) make MI the hardest by a long shot.

The learning curve flattening is probably one of the reasons people see games as getting easier. Zelda I isn't the hardest game, but it's made trickier when modern gamers play, being used to some introductory crap at the beginning.

Zelda I's second quest gets a spot in "too tough", but only because to get to the sixth dungeon, you have to do something completely random. I mean, who the hell figures out this stuff?

Dont forget about the 8th dungeon. You had to bomb all over that river area.

True, but that's a bit sane. Especially since you got the ladder recently.
i think it is hard as well because if you dont have a game guide  youll get lost. And the fact the mother brain is really hard to get to especially with her terrets firing at you every since second it just make me some mad that i want to destroy my gameboy because of that
Gotta go with the original Metroid. Starting with 30 health was nothing, writting down one wrong number or letter for the code was the worst!

Was that a 1 or an I? Wait, maybe it was 0 instead of O....

So much time lost to those damn codes.

That probably would not have been so annoying if it wasn't for the fact that you have to enter passwrds so often in that game, that's why I play the MP extra memory card saves instead of having to write down a passorword.

That would have been nice to have back in '84 or whenever Metroid came out. So many games had those darn codes. We had a few notebooks full of them, and you'd pass around codes in school. Of course, copying a code from someone else was never very reliable.

Well, the Metroid passwords are extremely short compared to the passwords for other games, though no less tedious to enter, some of the old RPGs my dad played had like half page passwords, imagine trying to copy one of those from someone.

Hehe, not only can I imagine it, but I can remember it.

The real fun was mapping. Mapping a game was very enjoyable and most all the time a must. Especially the older PC RPGs. Ahh, the good ol' days.

Think that's bad? Play Golden Sun 1 and beat it.  Then look at the Gold password (Which X-fers everything on your file).  Feel free to faint and come back shocked after that  :) .  Of course, writing it down is a kraid.  Believe me, I had to do that.  What's worse is writing one letter wrong.  Now THAT's a ridley right there.
Bah, the Gold password only took about 30 minutes to write down (well, 45, but that was because of my crappy light source).
It was only 6 pages, I think, so it's not that bad... right? At least I got my 10 Kikiuchimonji to my Lost Age save, and those high levels... Talk about extra gold from those items I brought...

Oops, that went... off topic?

Anyway, I find M2 hardest, probably because I've played it the least of 'em all, but that's besides the point.
It's nice to see that the first 2 are the ones people think are hard...

I've done that a few times, and I've always copied them wrong, and those are also short compared to those old RPG passwords.
Oh, I forgot... After trying the Gold password 3 times (writing it down from scratch each time), I found the connection thing. I thought something along the lines of "***** ***** *******". Yeah.

Damn, that sucks.

I did the gold password, although now I have a regular and an SP. I think I only had to do it over once. It didn't seem too bad, but I can be quite patient.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I don't know..I don't find Metroid 1 to be that hard at all if playing normally.

I'd probably say Prime because I suck at 3d.
This is a pretty boring pole.  Every one is saying that the original is hard, and a few saying Metroid 2 is hard.  meh. Rolling Eyes

So someone's using a pole to bore through someone's chest? Cool!

Chest?  Who said anything about someone's chest?

Where else would you bore a pole into, other then the ground.

I dunno, but I think the groin would also be quite fun...
Funny to watch, but not very funny if it happened to you. Would it? :P
heres something new, i found super metroid hardest, for some reason. it was mostly the grappling beam, and the infernal wall jumping!!!! wall jump is SO much easier in ZM!!! god, for some reason ridly took me FOREVER, but then mother brain was reletively easy and i did it in one try. the original is EASY once u get down killing those flying bug things *that scrape the ground* and it helps to know where all the items are too...i guess the first run was a little harder.
