Being a meanine would have been beating it in one night before it was available ... I knew about his time about 3 weeks before it was online. :P Kip will beat it once his new run is done sometime around june ... me doing it would just be to improve my own time because I won't catch kip.
Oh, and I love you Kenny, for having EB in your sig.
do you really have the japanese version? even if JPN appears in the serial number, it's only a japanese copy if the game is actually in japanese. (the JPN just means it was made in japan.)
Pal for me since I'm in France. Sequence breaking has been made harder but 23% games are still possible (22% should be too but I haven't done it and probably won't ever) and since the game is harder I like it that way... (still the Bendezium before plasma is stupid)
Oh, and it's nice that the record is PAL for once but it won't stay long because, no matter how great Zoidi is (and he really is!), it can't compensate for the speed shortcuts of the NTSC (and since Kip plays NTSC, PAL doesn't stand a chance :))...
Not one but I really want the game, the problem is... what should I try to get...
Original NTSC would mean more sequence breaking but more annoying bugs and the occasional freeze in the elevator (I forgot where the elevator takes you though for the freeze)
Players choice would mean the bug fixes but then the locks on the door on all. As long as its still possible to get space jump first though...
PAL would just be too damn hard to get in the US I think
It really depends on what you're looking for in the game. If you're not into sequence breaking, the PAL version is the most 'complete' version. However, if you want to sequence break or speed run, NTSC original is a positive must.

The only thing I really, REALLY care about is space jump first. Thats the thing I care most about. Do they sell PAL versions in the US? (PS: This is getting off topic, go back to talking about which verison you own)

No they don't. You'd have to import it and use and Action Replay/Freeloader to work it.
If all you care about is SJ first, then any version will do. Just know that you'll need to do the PAL method with NTSC PC.

*mumbles* stupid no-scan dash jump, thanks for the help.
I actually have both the original US version, and the PAL Player's Choice version (which I guess is the same as the original PAL version). I definitely prefer the PAL version, just for the changes and bugfixes...but then, I'm not a sequence breaker. I tried sequence breaking once, just didn't find it to be any fun, it disrupts the flow of the game for me. I mainly play games for the story.
well Unlike you, I've had more than my fair share of crashes due to my gamecubes emotional problems. I might get the players choice edition someday if it gets to be too annoying. You can play saved games from each version interchangeably right?
I'm very happy with my PAL version, thankyouverymuch. I'm not the Sequence Breaking type - I'm just too impatient for it - so PAL suits me fine, what with all the nice little plot changes they made. One thing that does really irritate me about the PAL copy, however, is the totally sucktastic voiceover they added on the intro and end sequence - it's the most hammy, horrible, B-movieish thing I've ever heard . Ah well, at least it shows they're putting effort in, I guess....
Well, I managed to find the NTSC version at a target for 30 bucks and I must say... wow... this game is too ****ing fun. After about 3 days now, I'm at metroid prime with 77% (enough for me to NOT get the bad ending right?) and I don't know the time I have though.
Maybe on my next game, I'll focus on 100% and mad sequence breaking (although I need dumbed down instructions on how to ghetto jump).

Speaking of playing saved games on each version interchangeably, I always wondered if it would be legal to do that on a speed run. There are some segments (such as OP) when it would be quicker to use the PAL version instead of original NTSC. It seems like this shouldn't be allowed; I'm just curious.
