magma pool pb

I recorded Master Zed's early PB.  Out of the two times I collected it, I think the expansion was in (roughly) the same spot.  If this is true, then that casts doubt on the current theory about samus's internal speed variables overflowing or something.  However, it does make actually using the glitch easier.

Okay I shall attempet. I'm not definately* sure about this but it seems that you move a bit faster in soul mode. I think this is because that there is no real surface, but you don't float right above rocks.

Edit: Um...I can't play my game any more...the error message comes up everytime i play my game.

Thats... not good.

Im stopping trying to do this now. :P (jk. I couldnt do it in the first place)

Could this be used to activate the darkworld-lightworld (or vice-versa) cutscene for the lower torvus key?

i can't seem to do this. i can get stuck, but i can't seem to find the angle needed to make it spin a little then stop. any tips on doing this?
Heck I can't even get stuck!
Look in the exact place Mr. Potter does in his vid of it in the landing site. I guess only some special things make it work.
no. Read the intructions. Getting the right angle and telling the diffrence bettween spin and vibartion takes a while..

Btw. Game works fine just a little dust on my disk.

It definitely wasn't for me. It was pretty easy to tell the flickering apart from the spinning.
Not if you have the phazon suit and all ball ungrades..well for me anyway.
Still easy.  It'll be spinning fast, than appear to slow to a stop.  But it'll be flickering between two images at 60 fps.  I suspect this could cause seizures.

The transition between spinning -> apparent stop is pretty quick.  If you've been holding a button for a few secs and something (whether it be the ball consolidating or looking even more crazy) hasn't happened, it's probably not going to work.  Also, in my experience, it never happens at diagonals.  Only one of the four cardinal directions.

How thorough is the list of rooms you can do this in, Mr. Potter?  I've been trying to do this in many places, but haven't had any success otherwise.  The only thing I *can* tell you is that you do not need a 'Where's the room?' glitch for Energy Core/Energy Core Access.  I don't even know what those are and I did one there normally.

Currently trying to tbj up the furnace track just to see what happens.  However, I've never tbjed before. >_<

edit: help me!

Completely useless but still awesome.  Is there any other point in the game where you can get completely stuck like this?  There's the pirate not breaking the glass in aether/thermal visor glitch, but you can scan dash or dash off a pirate to escape those...

i must've missed something. what's the "Where's the room?" glitch?
Yea i have no idea what that is either.
A "Where's the room?" glitch is where the room you are in disappears (with one exception in Echoes).  For these, you do a very light SJ just in front of the door, with the second jump just before the first hits the ground.  Sometimes you will land on the door sometimes on the floor.  By just morphing you will get stuck in the wall/floor (in Echoes only the doorframe seems to be sticky).  In some rooms (all in Sanc in Echoes so far) you MAM aside the door and a WTR? glitch takes place.  Not all of the WTR? rooms work (e.g. Great Tree Hall/Great Tree Chamber).

What you have done Maur has also been found by Master ZED. :)  What doesn't work are the expansions in Fiery Shores.  Supers in Observatory are also not possible this way.

A complete list of the rooms and possible uses are sort of scattered about SCU's Prime section.  Energy Core/ECA is both.  When you have problems doing a glitch, you can unmorph and move about slightly and remorph.  That seems to help.

Yeah, the overflow hypothesis seems wrong.  The more sticky version using charged boosts builds up speed, but only to a maximum (and then shoots you like a cannonball).  The light show glitch works when the wall is less sticky, and my new guess is that sustaining a spin rate over the normal maximum for a specific period of time triggers a fault in the game.
The Where's The Room glitch appears to be older than me. (Older than my time at m2k2/ scu. =P ) There are posts at scu dating back to February by Flamy and SkippyJr (mentioning Phendrana Metroid). There is also an entry in the venerable wiki here by MMcLean54. The glitch offers a look into the Secret World without actually going there.

Master ZED recently tied an Echoes version of it to some Echoes SW glitch research/ shenanigans he was doing, and the non SW IS was born. He originally used a  mam onto wall to the side of a door. And then used morphs at the bottom of walls just inside doors. SkippyJr figured out how to make the WTR (and in most cases MMG/ IS) work on doors with open tops but restricted sides, making it possible to use the MMG/ IS glitch in even more places.

There are links to a couple Flamy's vids of early WTRs on this wiki page: http://www.metroid2002.com/prime2/index.php/%22Where%27s_the_Room%3F%22_Glitch

And a vid of a recent MP one here: http://www.genericgamer.com/MP2/WTR_FCS_FAT.avi

Please correct me if any of the above is erroneous.

i finally got it! woo! all i could get to happen in the impact crater was that stupid cutscene which happens whenever you get close enough to the center of the temple, even when i was nowhere near it.

and i was able to crash the game right after getting the camera to work like the cinematic view from grand theft auto.

Well, too bad you also can't activate the item loss cutscene when having everything.... so this is kinda useless i would say.

I really need to read that s.uk thread.

One more question, though... how do you pull off the glitch in frigate crash site/frigate access tunnel? :/
Maur, I uploaded your vids to my myfilehut account :

Is it OK? Wink
Wow, who would have thought that we could get the ice spreader without power bombs or even the ice beam?  Too bad you can't get out of that room though :(
Assuming the files don't get deleted after a certain amount of time, yeah, that's fine.  Thanks.
maur, check your pms.

I'm pretty sure that there WAS a way found back out of that room after collecting the Ice Spreader w/o powerbombs... I think Master ZED may have done this already...
Sorry silent, but now that I have my m2k2 space back (lost the pass ages ago and never bothered to contact nate to get it back)... yeah.  Thanks, though.

Edited all my posts to the new links.

Mills, it'd be cool if you could find out how he did that.
I'll add the new videos to the list. I've gotten Ice Spreader Before Power Bombs once by accident while wallcrawling Shore Tunnel; just never bothered posting it.

EDIT: Maur, just watched your Magma Pool video. You could have saved a lot of energy; you don't need to boost into the lava, you just need to boost. I'll look at the other one and then add them.

EDIT 2: Saw the second video. It seems you don't understand that it doesn't matter where you are when you boost, as long as you're in the same room as the item you want to collect. That's my experience; and I'm sure it applies to the rest of the game. I'll add Early Ice Spreader to the list and your two videos.
If all I needed to do was boost, then why did the power bombs get collected on the second boost instead of the first?

And why didn't the missile expansion in ruined fountain collect itself when I boosted through the water there?

There's something else.  Probably insanely simple, but there's something else.
