quick missile exp. in Hall of Combat Mastery

I found a faster and without spiderball way to do that.

i know, i watched your vid.
i was confirming the old speed trick worked still since i'm consistent with it.

SW58 - Portal Chamber

i happened to fall inside the other room's boundaries and picked up an invisible missile expansion. then, got to the door to load the room.

Looks like they fixed the automatic invisible hole SW finder.  In MP3 the size of the green dot tells you how close what you are aiming at is.  Big = near, small = far.  But it worked with the level geometry and not the visible geometry.  You can "see" the entrance to MP3's Hillside Vista this way.

Does anyone know if Sonic Boom was similarly fixed?  It also was used to look for SWs since it interacted with the invisible Samus-stopping geometry instead of the visible geometry.

ohhhh shit!!

SW 50 - temple transport B works. that means the early PB that is very useful that everyone usually got with the TAS SW can be gotten and mp2 on wii can be broken now. heh this will be a good new addition for when i do the new speedrun.

good thing most of the SWs weren't very popular.

edit: i got the PB and returned to the normal world like i used to do on GC. took me a bit more since it is the first time i do it on wii.

Much to my dismay... but it is good that you didn't have the same SW fever doninss and I had, since now Nintendo likely won't order Retro to do anything about it.

btw, judgement drop works too. it is indeed super easy. i'll record more vids tomorrow since it is quite late atm.

i didn't have luck with dynamo access. any tips to make morph SWs easy for someone who has never done one?
I never got morph SWs, never a single one.

The first thing I'd do is make sure the door ring is still hollow, or there's no point to trying this.  Basically, if the Sonic Boom can go through the floor or any other part of the ring (assuming that trick still works), and/or the Morph Ball can sit in the door like in MP1 (where it appears and feels like it's caught on a track), then the ring is still hollow and should still work.  The teleportation mechanism that limits Flickerball usage so much in the normal game responds to collision detection, and Morph SW's only work based on the fact that if a door ring is hollow, said safety mechanism can take you outside the boundaries.  Where that teleporter takes you is based on your position when you fully morph; you won't really get it randomly.  This is an "X marks the spot" venture, and X can range from minuscule to microscopic.

For Dynamo Access, I usually just inch, IIRC, midway between the wall and where the ring turns horizontal on the floor on the right side (facing into the room), then move forward a little to morph.  I haven't used this entrance in years, but that's how I remember it.
Metroid Prime, what else?
"SA doesn't seem to activate sideways"

I'm really dissapointed with this. I love so much sideway SAs...

well, i've got bad news.
they fixed this in the wii version. the ball doesn't sit on the door like in the gc version. i even booted the gc version to compare and i got into the SW in like 3 minutes there.
there's also an invisible wall to the side of the ring that doesn't let you hug the wall.

edit: sw01 doesn't work either. there's an invisible wall stopping you from reacing the standable area to get into the aether.

edit 2: i'm playing mp2 in the trilogy now and for some reson it is harder to navigate SWs. i used sw50 to get the early PB but it took me very long because the walls were weird. it was too often the game wouldn't let me jump. the wall to get on top of the room was also weird since it didn't allow bomb jumps to get up like on GC.
outside that, i could do re-entry and proceed like normal. now i'm going to look for potential better routes with the PB.

edit 3: seems they only fixed specific hollow rings because save station b's ring is still hollow and i got into the sw after some fiddling with it in the trilogy version.
trying to break the game leads to this i guess...

Maybe it has nothing to do with the Morph SW phenomenon, which came about purely by my shenanigans, and everything to do with the Quad MB entrance method, which was discovered by a player getting pinned down in the door by the Quads in Dynamo Works.  You should check Mini Gyro Chamber/Hall of Combat Mastery's door for the same fix, since the same thing can happen there.

Oh!  The wormhole SW's should also be checked for the same reason, if they weren't already fixed in Dark Echoes.
I believe I already stated the worms will not pick you up if you're anywhere near the wall. They walk by you.

thanks to the early PB, i managed to gain 14 minutes on my test run. that's quite a lot despite taking like 10 minutes to navigate the SWs.

edit: i think floaty jump doesn't work anymore. i tried it and didn't get it.
Floaty Jump via chykka? That was fixed in Dark Echoes...

oh i didn't know since the site doesn't have a version differences page to check for this game.

btw, i recorded more vids. this time in the trilogy version.

sw36 - judgement drop

sw49 - temple transport A

sw50 - temple transport B

sw117 - transport c access

sw120 - save station b

btw, does anyone have problems seeing the embedded youtube vids here? i can't see them.

Where in Echoes is IS doable? I don't care if it's just working on GC =)

here's the other vids i recorded:

disruptor going through portals

annihilator on living crystals (wii version)

pwning the dark missile trooper

invisible spider rail in portal chamber

sw121 - save station 2

that's all for now.
if IS is still doable, i'll make vids with it.

How's that noteworthy?  The logbook entry tells you that's how they operate.

well, you can't meet these guys with annihilator normally since they vanish once you visit the room the first time and you need to reach jump guardian backwards to avoid that and people might assume you can't reach him that way with all the changes and stuff.

Stuffs. Yar.
Is Emperor Ing still SA-able? I tried and wasn't able to get it to work... then again, I didn't have the time to thoroughly test.

... Although I did test the "shoot Jump Guardian before the fight" trick, and found that that... didn't work so well. :P
Nope.  Neither of them work.
No, for Emperor Ing you have to go back to the old method, i.e. picking up lots of ammo expansions and spamming the annihilator beam.
Today I was fightint the Boost Guardian on Trilogy. Then he disappeared. I mean, completely :p I didn't really notice what happened, but it wasn't in the room anymore, so I couldn't do anything... I had to quit the game and restart.
Did that happen to anyone here (GC or Trilogy) ?
I remember that happening to... DJ I think it was on GC. Strange they didn't fix it (it wasn't very well documented though)
