What does the logbook entry say?
Quote from Baby Sheegoth:
What does the logbook entry say?
You won't get a logbook entry if you scan it, but if you look in Agon's data, one does exist:

That's just balls.

well, i just tried a lot of crazy shit on WSA to try to get SA early and nothing. roll jumps are quite dead, like in the jp version and nothing else gets the required distance. i tried ghetto jumps, sasuke hops and even some crazy spring + boost on walls to try to cross it in morph ball mode. that was the closest i got since i touched the other side's wall but it was too low to make it respawn me at the other side.
i'll keep going with my 100% scans and items playthough tomorrow and will probably finish since i have like 70% scans and 41% items but the clean-up here is big.
The made spider guardian easier than boost guardian. I already thought he was easy on GC, but damn, that was just awful.

imo, spider was always easier than boost. i don't get why people find that boss hard. he's just average.
He was sickeningly easy on this game. I hope on Veteran he at least puts up a fight.

that room is in the torvus area, right?
Dark Agon.

Quote from UchihaSasuke:
can they be seen from the regular area or do you need a SW?
They can attack you in the normal room when you're on the bridge, but you need to be in a secret world to scan them.  They also don't stick around very long.

well, i went to that room while doing cleanup and those enemies are still there. it is the first time i see them in years since i used to get the darkburst with fast methods to skip that room.

edit: i just finished beating the game with 100% items and scans. i can say that this version and the jp version are identical and there's no difference in tricks whatsoever. when i'm done with mp3 and the hyper difficulties for all 3, i'll attempt a new speed run.

for a first post i think I'm gonna get skewered .....
anyways i would like to ask babysheegoth that the next time you go by the seeker missile trick area if you could make your video from the ground ...to the arch ? please...  lol  i was looking at one of your videos that shows.. a possibility and decided that at the top you decided to just morph ball into a niche between the arch and the..umm tree?  and that's how you got up there?

and thank you uchihasasuke i think it was one of your vids that i was able to get the 101% lol, replication is "a bit" easier than trying it 1000 times on your own.....

also as a side note i did attempt trying sj boots early in mp1 (using the morph ball trick)...though that didn't work and thought boost ball is easy enough to get... i'm probably gonna try all this "time-running" after i beat the games thou, it looks like fun...

i want those seekers early thou ... lol

edit:
.....irony hurts... haven't played mp2 for more than a year... yea i just got boost ball..... irony hurts....  anyways any other tricks for this game?

Seekers early isn't a possibility unless you find out how to manipulate the Boost Ball spinners in the Seekers room -.- Found that out the hard way.

a version difference i forgot was that the wii version's hard mode is actually harder than on GC.
remember that there were bosses that took the same damage in normal and hard on GC? well, now almost everything takes twice was much to kill (set damage bosses like spider and power bomb guardians are identical). i remembered now that i started playing in hypermode and reached the bomb guardian.
For some stupid reason, Portal Chamber's Light world SW still works. You literally jump through a wall. WTF retro?

Hive Dynamo Works probably still works too then, since that too is just a hole in the wall.  It'd be interesting to see if Screw Attack can get through it.

Speaking of obvious crap, what about Morph SW's?
I NEVER got those anyways. If you have this game try it out ZED, you're god at MP2.

I kinda wouldn't be asking if I had it... then again, with the earned cutscene skipping per file bullshit, maybe I would. :\
Metroid Prime, what else?
I've never read that before, but is some Dark Aether rooms, you hear the Impact Crater music. (before the annihilator combo, and in GMFC Compound).

you could download a savefile with the game complete and start a new game to get around that..

edit:

on a completely different subject, some more old speed tricks that still work:
- getting the hive key by disabling the force field through the correct angle to scan the switch works.
- opening the portal without spider in that room with rezbits before grand abyss also works.
- getting the missile by latching onto the spider track with an instant morph in hall of combat mastery still works too.
- getting the missile in the room with the security drone miniboss with screw attack to skip the puzzle works too but requires more precise placement since screw attack doesn't seem to activate sideways or when doing a ghetto jump now.
- getting the power bomb in the room next to the above one with SA to skip the portals works too. harder because of the new SA quirks detailed above.
- getting the energy tank with SA in the light version of the room where you meet boost guardian works also.
all of them work in both US and JP versions.
i'll try more speed tricks when i play on normal and will try to record vids.

That still requires the spending of money.  Not Retro or anyone else's getting a penny from me for this game, but of course, that's not gonna stop me from brainstorming ways to break it (namely 'cause that doesn't require me to do more than think).

oh well, that's fine i guess...

btw, what were the easiest SWs to enter in the gc version? i'd like to try to enter a few but i have no idea where to try and the TAS SW doesn't work.
Portal Camber light aether. SO easy.

do you have a vid of it?

btw, the invisible spider tracks are still in the portal side of that room.

Of the ones I don't know of any verification, Judgment Drop, Main Reactor, Dynamo Access, Putrid Alcove, Abandoned Base, and Transport to Temple Grounds in Sanctuary are all really easy.

As for Portal Chamber, all you need to know is where the MB elevator is on the dark side.  That's where the hole is on Aether.

bold = works
strikethrough =  couldn't get into
italic = i need a vid to try

for putrid alcove, i couldn't stand on top of the clamp thingy and for transport to temple grounds the Z button doesn't make samus rise like L does in the GC version.

edit: holee shit! they didn't even fix the grapple beam glitch where the arm stays up if you go into a portal while using grapple.

more edit:

SW41 - Abandoned Base

this one was a bit tricky to get into but the vid i had helped a lot.

SW44 - Main Reactor

this was funny because i didn't even plan to reenter the playable area and got in the dark beam room.

SW58 - Portal Chamber

i happened to fall inside the other room's boundaries and picked up an invisible missile expansion. then, got to the door to load the room.

now here's some of the speedtricks i mentioned earlier:

quick missile exp. in Hall of Combat Mastery

quick missile exp. in transit station

darkburst without BSJ and without dark world trip

quick missile exp. in main research

quick energy tank in torvus bog
