was going to post this in the other thread but it's locked.
I hope this isn't too obnoxious.. and it might even be a bit ironic considering my point but...
I just liked the point I made.

I promise it's my last on the subject.

the internet does these things...

but I stand by what I posted and still haven't heard any arguments that have been able to allow me to consider differently.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is quality game design by any standard.

Just trying to eliminate the hate.
What so hard about realizing something you don't like at all still might be pretty good?

And there are so many examples of why quality and taste are different, but it seems superfluous to go down that road.
I'll give a single example then invite you to consider one that might apply to you and how it might apply to this enigmatic Prime 2 game:
The movie DOUBT. Is well written, well-acted, dramatic, and skillfully paced. It occurs to me that it is without a doubt a great film, worthy of the recognition it received. However, I don't like it one bit. I didn't enjoy it and I plan on never watching it again. I didn't like the themes or the characters and thus was uninterested in the story.

still, I can recognize good film-making. Somebody is probably going to take offense to this but, assuming something you don't LIKE is without any substantial QUALITY just means you need to keep your ego in check.

peace

... facepalm.
?
chill. I was annoyed the thread was closed.
despite the flaming and such, there was some interesting stuff going on.
Echoes is old. People have stopped putting down arguments for why they think Echeos sucks years ago.

The thread being closed is no reason to go off-topic in another thread. There is a Metroid Prime 2 section on M2K2, it exists for a reason.

@Moderators/Admins: Forgive me for the indirect backseat moderation there.
fair enough!

the discussion did lose it's focus.
but the off-topic thing happens constantly around here, and I assume closing the thread was more about keeping the flaming down than just preventing off-topic discussion. Also, us talking about past prime games is certainly relevant to this new one. We just got hung up on one topic and it descended into the same sort of petty bickering as I'll admit I've seen before around here.

Other M isn't a Prime game.  The Prime series is over.
I knew someone would catch that.
typo.
I meant metroid, not just prime. I couldn't edit because I haven't been logging in.

Yeah, I think it's about time guest posting was de-activated across M2K2.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I concur.

I guess I lacked the will to scroll up and hit log in.

I resent that.

i know a girl, that sometimes don't want to sleep, because she is too lazy to close her eyes...

yeah, it's not really a USA only problem...
doesn't sleeping trump most waking behaviors.
assuming she's doing SOMETHING while awake?

I'm not really that lazy of a guy, mostly I just forget to hit log in every time I come here. it's more habit than anything.

..or perhaps not sleeping is lazy because it makes her tired, and less constructive during the day?

on a related note, playing video games is a rather lazy behavior...
Unless it really exorcises your mind, then I wouldn't consider it lazy.

Portal counts as non-lazy to me, I can't decide what I think about Metroid games...
....ok, back on topic.

Am I the only one that thinks that the 3rd person aiming will suck?  I imagine that I'll just be jumping around crazily and blasting till all the enemies in the room are gone. I wish there some way to aim besides the "auto-aim" BS.  Nintendo can be so retarded....
red chamber dream
i can't imagine it'd be much different from shadow complex or, you know, the other 2d metroid games.
It's actually something I hadn't thought of yet. Damned, why did you have to bring that up, Chozoid? Now I'm even more concerned about Other-M's possible pitfalls.

Pretty sure it's been confirmed that it's all auto aim. Sideways Wiimote doesn't have enough buttons to it any other way, really. For any manual aiming you're stuck the first person gimmick.
I doubt I'm the only one that's thinking "Why the &%$# can't we use the nunchuk?"
Maybe it's because Sakamoto's a stoner.

Seriously, look at him.

Of course, Nintendo's pulled off crazy shit before.

Which they've been doing for a very, very long time. As it was actually founded in 1889. Wink

Actually, I think I recall reading that it was Team Ninja's idea. He just jumped on board after playing with it for a bit.

shadow complex is mostly auto-aim and it works fine.

nah, it's definitely the opposite.
yeah Team Ninja actually fought with Nintendo about the nunchuk.  Ninty insisted upon NOT using it.  I'm anxious to see just how all these controls are going to work.  I don't have any fear that they will be terrible though, considering who has overseen the development of the game.  They've only made the best games in history, not sure what else one has to do to earn your trust that they know what they're doing.

Just because they know what they're doing doesn't mean they're doing it well. Razz

To me, knowing what you're doing is synonymous with doing well, otherwise I wouldn't call it that.
