Quote from Phazar:
So are you trying to skip the Violet Translator then?  Or the Amber Translator?  If so, I wish you the best of luck, as I'm pretty sure you can't skip either of those without running into problems later, especially when attempting to return to Temple Grounds.  The best way back from Sanctuary to Temple Grounds(for Light Suit and Seekers) would be to (at the beginning of the game) get the TAS Power Bomb, get the Violet Translator unless you can wallcrawl past it on both sides of the Agon Transport, go to Agon, PB open Sanctuary from there, go about your business in Sanctuary, then exit through the transport to Agon, then the Agon transport to Temple Grounds.  Also, as a side note, I hope you are ready for grappleless Grand Abyss.

Thanks for the reply! :) None of the translators are required to beat the game, so it should work out.

What I've done so far is wallcrawl to the TAS power bomb, wallcrawled to the agon transport, raided the pirate base, powerbombed Dark Samus (that was awesome!), and gone straight to Sanc. I'm currently saved in Main Gyro Chamber, and I'll have a go at getting the Screw Attack tomorrow. Wish me luck!

I don't know how I'm going to get past these obstacles. I guess I'll work it out as I go along.
...
You're welcome, and good luck.

On another topic, I've been trying the Cobalt skip for the first time these past two days, and could use a little help/advice.  At this point, I can bomb jump to the top of the room(well, close enough to the door) in SW state, but then when attempting to bomb jump across the sticky graphics to the translator door, I pretty much always fall(still in MB mode) way below the level.
Cobalt skip? I don't really know anything about it, but...

I'm struggling to remember any significant cobalt doors in Sanc other than the one to Spider. There's the one in front of the map station, but... No, there has to be more than two of them.

Anyway, couldn't you get Screw Attack Early? Cross WSA backward, Midair morph into the bomb slot in Watch Station, cross Judgment Drop and Vault Attack Portal with Grapple (I'm assuming you have it), then use SA to enter the SW in Dynamo works and wallcrawl to the Spider Guardian?
...
I already have SA early, you can't skip Cobalt without it.  Basically the only significant Cobalt Door is the door to Workers Path that leads to Spider.  Skippping it involves entering a SA secret world in Sanctuary Temple and wallcrawling up the room past the Worker's path door and returning to the map.  Here's a video of what should happen(obviously not by me)  It seems that I either fail to stick to the wall, bomb jump up the wrong part of the wall so that the morph ball stops moving up(after which I often fall below the map), fail multiple times to enter the SW, or the problem mentioned in my previous post.
There's a secret world in Dynamo Works that you could probably use. I'm not sure if you know, but that's the room in which you fight the Spider Guardian, but also the room just outside Main Gyro Chamber. They're both the same room, and you could probably wallcrawl around to the entrance and skip Cobalt that way.

As for the SW you're using, if you're having trouble with the bomb jumps, I think you have to pull back out of the wall as the bomb explodes, then wedge back in at the peak. I'm not sure, I've never done walls before. I'd boot up my game and have a go at it, but I'm still working on crossing Grand Abyss...
Okay, just got Screw Attack! I'm so happy.

I'm really surprised that I managed to pull this off in a single afternoon. I was preparing myself for days of attempting and failure. (I Roll Jumped across WSA, Scan Dashed onto the drone, then Scan Dashed to the spinner.)

I was exploring Sanctuary afterward, and I ran into a roadblock; Minigyro Chamber. I can't cross it backward because I didn't set the rings from the other side. It did put me in a SW state though, so I can probably wallcrawl to the next room and do the puzzle then and there.

Is it true that areas aren't available for Light Suit warp unless you've been to them? How the hell am I going to get to Torvus??
...
I've tried the Dynamo Works SW, I seem to fall far below the map every time I use it.  And you shouldn't need to go through Minigyro Chamber, there's nothing important to finishing the game on the other side...at least as far as I recall...
Nothing really important but it's quite fun to try to wallcrawl from minigyro sw all the way back to the transport to Temple grounds elevator. If u ever feel bored and just want to try I have a sort of "difficult glitches" list that I've compiled that are pointless in an actual run but for messing around under certain conditions ridiculously entertaining
...
Ok, so I finally managed to pull off the Cobalt skip wallcrawl, but now I'm stuck on the wallcrawl to bypass the Echo Visor gate.  Where is the best place to morph so that you end up in Hive Gyro Chamber?  I seem to keep landing on the light door, or sometimes landing on HGC's secretized ceiling, stranded outside the room permanently.
Ah, the echo gate wallcrawl is next on my list too. What kind of run are you doing, Phazar? Which items do you have? I'm Dark Suitless, so the wallcrawl and Quadraxis fight should be fun.

And I'm trying to get through Minigyro Chamber to reach the Torvus Elevator. It's the quickest and easiest way in, and even if I can't get past the statue in the Torvus room (Training Chamber?), it'll put the area on the map so I can warp there after I get the light suit.
...
This was an any% run I started a few months back, but now it's basically just me trying out tricks, mainly because after many years I finally managed to pull off early Screw Attack.  As for items, I am Gravity-less and Cobalt-less.  And I don't have the main PB(just two early expansions - I plan to get the main PB while on the key-quest).  Honestly I will probably never again skip Cobalt in an actual any% run, since the wallcrawl takes more time than it would take to simply screw attack to the controller and back(unless you're DJ Grenola).  But heck, I'm just experimenting at this point.

Also, I've screwed around with the Minigyro SW many a time, but I have a horrible habit in Echoes of falling below maps.  But it's probably the best entrance if you want to get to Torvus that way.
Skip cobalt? Why not just do ILS?

Reaching the Torvus elevator was much easier than I thought it'd be. The far door in Watch Station, next to the one that leads to Grand Abyss? I had forgotten about the area transport elevator there, and it took me right down to main research.

I need help finding Save Station B in Agon, I found A and C but like, where the hell is B?
iirc save station B is the one in agon's pirate base, but it was renamed to save station C for some reason
MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning
theres a savestation near amorbis though >_>
So for any%, after finishing chykka and getting the sky temple key in upper dark torvus, I know there's a wallcrawl to immediately go down to lower dark torvus (don't wanna do light torvus because of grapple pirates potentially freezing the game). I'm not sure where to start with this though; which room should I wallcrawl out of? Is there any video of it?
A what? You can't wallcrawl without connecting rooms, and there are no rooms connecting the two sections of Dark Torvus.

I believe you're thinking of this wallcrawl.
(1:33:38)
Seeing as how Miles could, but doesn't do it in his segmented 1:01 I'm going to assume its slower.
It's slower than wallcrawling through the light world, but that can potentially crash the game if you have Grapple.
But i'm guessing it's the same idea? Maybe it's worth testing at least with the grapple-beam route? I can check it out sometime

about how much is it faster to crawl to the room at the beginning of torvus instead of going through the power bomb doors?
Hello, I just recently got Metroid Prime 2 and I want to start speedrunning 100% and I was told I should ask around here. Do you guys have any tips for a beginner like me?
though the information on metroid2002.com is outdated in terms of routing, it still has most of the basic tricks so start with learning the basic tricks (2/3BJs, BSJs, rolljumps, scandashing, rollshooting, instant morphs/unmorphs). The only important technique that it doesn't really go over is wallcrawling, but fortunately 100% isn't too intensive with wallcrawling.

Watch miles's 100% WR here - http://speeddemosarchive.com/MetroidPrime2.html#SS100

And use the current route there. If you have any questions, definitely ask around.

It'll definitely be helpful to stream, so we can help you out :)

the hardest thing you probably have to learn is  the early power bomb expansion in temple grounds
loving low%
Hey Guys!
After various Walkthroughs including a HIGH Number of Tricks and almost every single sequence break besides 21% tricks (I call these Walkthroughs REVERSE ORDER Walkthroughs, because there are more sequence breaks than natural route-playing, finishing my 22% Walkthrough and finishing MP1 any% SS Speedruns three times in total,(1:42, 1:37 and 1:32) I decided to let it to that for a few weeks before I start a more serious, this time SEGMENTED any%-Speedrun (including IBBF and SB Skip and these two cubes which can be climbed without Spider Ball).

And since I have got the NTSC 0-00 Version of MP1 and MP2 as well, but haven't yet played it in this 6 months I have it, I decided to give it a shot.
So, my question is: Which Tricks/ Sequence Breaks are recommended for a very experienced MP1-Player, who has INDEED played through MP2 a bunch of times on Trilogy, such as NATURAL LOW% on "Trilogy-normal", but hasn't a clue about MP2 - Sequence Breaking and/or Speedrunning. I already know that there are way more SW in MP2 and that 7% and 6% can be done, even on Hard and SS and in a couple of hours aka MilesSMB, but hey, it's ridiculously difficult, isn't it? And how many Items/ Percents do you save/ conserve with ILS? Is ILS plus that early PB-E even hard or is it quite doable?
As of now, the only VERY hard Sequence Break/ Trick in MP2 is Grand Abyss without Grapple, or are there even more Tricks comparable with 22% Geo Core (in-bounds)?!?

For getting as many experiences with MP2 and getting accustomed with MP2 sequence breaking (NOT YET SPEEDRUNING PLEASE !!!), what should I do? Which tricks aren't THAT hard but worth testing out? Which items aren't THAT hard to skip as for example Spider Ball in MP1? Feel free to give me ANY advices in route planning for Speedruns, but I'd REALLY appreciate it, if you could give me some suggestions and examples of what I could test out in my 1st REVERSE ORDER Walkthrough of MP2!

One further question: In what way is MP2 wallcrawling different compared to MP1? I have very limited experience with WC outside of Chozo Ruins and Tallon Overworld and even there, I get for example, IBBF (the easy, longer way, without wasting too much time after falling down to climb back up to "level" with aether jumping, just ONCE OUT OF 20 Tries or so, and even then, it has -of now- taken at least 10 minutes from Gathering Hall Savestation to Reflecting Pool Savestation, which is FAR to much to use it in a Speedrun!), and so I don't want to have to use TOO many SW if it's possible. Differences in crashing? Or in Aether Jumping? In getting stuck in walls? In difficluty of WCing in general?!?

Thanks a LOT in advance and have a great day!
