How were you doing it? The only real difference between what Atomicbomb said and the main site's description is the camera part and the points about how he pushed the buttons.

Back again, and I finished my first speedrun following Silent Echo's video. Lol, I got 2:50, but it was my first, so I'm proud. I'm working on an improved one right now.

Congratulations on clearing Grand Abyss. To my knowledge, that makes you only the fourth person to do it.

There were some route changes in the 1:38 which will save you a couple of minutes over the old 1:43, if it's the 1:43 you're using as your source material. This game needs more runners, so all attempts are welcome !

Thanks, I appreciate it! Yeah, I saw your video and I'm trying some of better routes you used. They seem to work out pretty well. Also, the speedrun I'm on now is an any% hard speedrun. I got stuck on boosty without dark suit, but I found out how to get the early PB expansion in TAS thanks to one of your videos. Thanks!
:|im still cant do it  :( I know theres a version out there, payers choice to be specific, that they release and you wont be able to get those early items. But they couldnt fix instead the damm sensors that gets stuck! i was loving this game until then.

theres only 4 people finished grand abyss?

If anyone would know, DJ would.
I'm looking through Metroid 2002 and I can't find a video or any explanation on how to skip the dark agon temple keys.

Thanks.

well, they can only be skipped by skipping the whole boss fight and dark suit. you can't skip them and fight amorbis.

btw, the trick to skip them is use the ghetto jump to reach the portal in that room that has strong poison on the way to torvus.

Only four to my knowledge: kip, Silent Echo, me, and now our nuclear friend.

Jagger ftw
you got to be joking...

this trick?

or this trick?

One shall stand, one shall ball.
The second, early screw attack is easy with the grapple beam.

Yeah, grand abyss is very hard, and I'm surprised that I got through it. Now though, since I did it once, every time I try a new speed run it feels easier to get past it with each new try. I know it may be hard to believe since DJ, Kip, and Silent Echo are all pro-speedrunners and I'm out of the blue, but I have been lurking this website for a while, so I know a bunch on this game.

Thats nice man.
I never managed that trick. Somereason my Echoes dash jump skills pretty suck. I can make some easy dashes for example jump onto the torvus bridge and other easy jumps. But Vault is too hard for me. Grand abbys even harder, i´ve never trying that seriously, because i think i have must be increase my dash jump skills alot.

You can try 21% hard mode speedrun?
Kip current SDA time is really old and pretty poor, because route suck. But bosses looks still hardcore here. We wait somebody can improve that. I completed 22% hard mode once, but my time was some minutes slower than Kip time, even i make this run using new route.

But real low-% is 21% now. I think it is time get Kip old SDA run down in future.
Jagger ftw
I have grapple beam, but I can't grapple on to the things in the  first trick.
Sorry if this has already been asked, but what is an R-dash? I looked on the main site, but it doesn't say what one is.

It's alright, everyone has their ups and downs. Mine is probably 3-bsj, since it isn't used much, though I can do a regular bsj just fine. I would practice dash jump at Forgotten Bridge (Torvus) going towards the portal. If you have dark or light suit, however, practice it in Dark Forgotten Bridge instead, since it's quicker to get back to the starting point, and it's one of the spots where dash jumps have to be performed pretty well. For Grand Abyss, keep practicing even after the robot leaves, that's what I did. Good luck!

I need more practice before I try one, because boosty and Quaddy were REALLY annoying the first time. Couldn't kill boosty without the early PB, and quaddy took 6 energy tanks, cause he never gave me the energy I needed.

EDIT:

Sorry, forgot to mention when in Dark Forgotten Bridge practice the dash jump as if you were heading to Chykka (the Super Missile door). You probably already knew this though, just giving you a heads up.

LAST EDIT:

When I meant boosty and quaddy were hard, I meant without the dark suit. Sorry about the double edit.  :-)

Yeah low-% hard take lot practice. But if i can beat it, i believe you can beat it too. Wink
You are almost only here who can skip grapple beam.

-Boost guardian take me 2 days and lot practice. I beat him in 3 round. I think 2 round can be possible on hard low-%
-Quadraxis take 3 days. I practice that alot with low-% items but with 5 energy tanks.
So i finally learn how i can dodge him and after hours attempts i finally beat him.

-My low-% hard Emperor ing & last darksamus video you can found in youtube. But if you are interested run that, i hope i will see this. Wink

Sorry bout that, still getting used to quoting. But what I meant to say after was that I need some recording equipment to make some vids, but maybe I could get it.

no one answered this one..

R-dash is when you hold R after doing a scan dash. it lets you keep the speed from the scan dash and go further than normal. hold R when you are at the fastest speed from the scan dash. i think you can release L also but i don't remember well the other details.
red chamber dream
I never hold L after pressing B during a Scan Dash, so yep, you can release it.
In Echoes, I think you need to leave it held.

Question: How do you skip the Dark Suit?
Take cover or die...
In the room Abandoned Base, use a BSJ or Ghetto Jump to reach the portal before the Ingclaw Mist kills you which normally wouldn't happen with dark suit. I'm too lazy to link, so look at the main MP2:E page and look at the section, "Without Dark Suit". That'll be the video to show you how.

But this is assuming you have all the items and stuff.

Also, Abandoned Base is on the Torvus side of Temple Grounds.

Sorry for the double post, but I was wondering about something in tjp's no-SJ run in segment 3. When he's at Doomed Entry and he's doing the 3-BSJ how does he get the instant unmorph when he's that far away from the wall? I thought you had to be close to activate the camera trick.

I really don't see a lot of speedruns so I just caught up with this one. I'm trying to do the tricks he does because it looks pretty fun and challenging, but everytime I try to do it I never get an instant unmorph.

Umm... My question is how to skip the Dark Suit in the FIRST place. They don't raise the platforms until you get the suit.
