I need help opening the portal inthe Main Research room right before getting the Screw Attack. As I understand it, there is a 'glitch' in the system and if you can't open the door after putting on your Echo Visor and shooting the sensors, you are basically screwed. Does anybody know a way around this or am I really screwed? Please help
The glitch is made out to be worse than it is. Basically, if you start to take out the Echo Visor targets, but leave the room before finishing the job, all of the targets will disappear and you won't be able to continue normally. As long as you finish what you start (and there's no good reason not to), there's nothing to worry about. If you do make this mistake, there is a way around it, just not by any intended path.
Ok, first I got stuck in the reactor core with the door that won't open. So now I am trying to go around this by going thru the Watch Station Access. I have tried for hours to get across to the other side by the roll off jump method and the scan the door and walk off backwards method that was recommended on this site. I still can't get there. Am I missing something? Please help. It seems to be the only other way into the Vault where the Screw Attack is.

You just have to keep trying, neither method is terribly easy the first time, even after it can be tricky. Just make sure that you're following the direction the site gives exactly and you'll get it eventually.
Alternately you could just restart the game from the beginning and avoid triggering the reactor core glitch in the first place.
Also, it would be best to post things like this in the "I need help" topic, that's why it is there.

Hey guys, I am new here. I know thats obvious because my post count is 1. I couldn't find a place to introduce myself, so I might as well do it here.
I need help bypassing Grand Abyss without grapple, I've tried both scan dashes and roll jumps, and I think I'll use scan dash. I've checked the page on doing this too, but it says I need to bend the dash forward, and I've never been good at bending dashes. I just wanna know, do you jump, and rotate the stick forward, then press R? Or do you jump, press R, then rotate it? When I try the latter, I keep going in the same direction. When I try the first way, I go too far forward. Yes, I know that this is the hardest part without grapple, I'm still determined to get past it. Thanks in advance.

"I need help" on bsj, I have problem with it on mp1, mp2,mp3.
On mp1, I almost did bsj furnace spider track, but can't control it.
On mp3, I the only problem I have bsj is if my remote is towards the sensor bar, I will turn to random ways after my bsj, so I had to first lock my view, then turn to a ball, then put the remote behind my back and away from the sensor bar, and lift, but its really awkward.
On mp2, I could not even get the bsj effect going on. I know you have to go near a wall or something, and make your back behind it. but its just not working for me..

The description and vids are pretty good.
Try the bsj used for the Ing Hive Keys skip (or in it's light world equivalent). It is far easier as you are not fighting a wall. It will help you get the timing for X and B together.
When you try to do the walled ones, you can start a few steps out from the wall (back facing it), hold L, then push forward as you morph - then the camera will be setup correctly. Single bomb walled bsjs are easiest. Just pull back near the top to get the instant unmorph.

for roll jump, I stick to the right side and roll down with r, and I got instant unmorph pretty well, but I can't jump after wards. or only one jump, not 2. and after I unmorph I hold l with r too..

so it was a beautiful day, I was enjoying my summer by playing metroid echoes until i got to the room of doom. yeah i didn't know about it and I saved thinking that it would fix if a reset. Im talking about the Sanctuary: Main Research Broken Sonic Locks! ive been trying to do the "Kip Dash" and "Roll Jump" across the Watch Station Access but i cant :( my game version is DOL-G2ME-USA theres also a model No.

Back again, and I finished my first speedrun following Silent Echo's video. Lol, I got 2:50, but it was my first, so I'm proud. I'm working on an improved one right now.
Roll jump took me like 2-3 hours too, but now I can do it 90% of the time without fail. They way I do it is like this:
1. Make sure your camera is facing straight towards where you want to roll jump off of.
2. Hold down R while rolling forward ( I actually push the controller against my leg to hold down R ).
3. Right about when your ball is about to be obscured out of the camera view, press X, and then right after that press B ( use 2 fingers separately, and use whichever fingers you feel most comfortable with ). Also, don't worry about being too early to press B; press it as soon as you can after X because it's almost impossible to press it too early.
4. Continue holding R and forward the whole time, and if you timed it right, you should have jumped. Press L half a second after you jump, and hold all 3. Use your second jump to increase distance.
I hope that helped. :D
