played through Hollow Knight: Voidheart Ed again, stopped at 106%.

This game really is amazing. It's as if someone took a 2D Metroid game and a Dark Souls game and combined them into one.  This is perfect for me because Metroid and Dark Souls are my fav series.

I could play this game over and over.  I don't think I will ever be able to beat the hardest bosses, but I don't care.

So when you say 106%, I assume that means everything up through

Nightmare King, but not Godhome?

Because that's definitely all the best content. 112% is still definitely *cool*, but it only made me like the game less.
Exactly.  You definitely know your HK percentages.

I never finished Trial of the Fool either

They highlight the importance of a good meal. :)

Yeah, he killed me a lot. Apparently you can get them into a bit of a loop by headshotting them and then climbing on their back to hit them until they throw you and repeating but man I'm not convinced their head is real and can be shot.

Bird Dungeon was a weird choice to do last, I guess, because I'm pretty sure I found a couple shrines that were more complex lol. Is there anything important to do before or while making an honest attempt at Hyrule Castle? I poked around a bit and clowned on some Guardians for a while but didn't want to really go for it quite yet.
That's my biggest gripe with the game. Other than shrines and the story quests there's barely anything to do in the huge world. you can purchase a house and fund an optional town but nothing about that seemed like a "must do!" to me
so no reason not to go to hyrule castle
Dood Trigger™
Finished Dino Crisis 2 on Hard.

Rules:
1. Hard mode;
2. No unlockables? Not sure if there's anything in NG+, but hey, just in case.

Hard is considerably tougher than Normal in this game. Enemies are faster, much more aggressive, more durable, and you take a ton more damage. Also, perhaps most notably, shop prices are doubled.

As interesting as Hard mode is survival-wise, I think Normal is still the ideal difficulty for this game, and it's all because of the shop. DC2 is really well balanced for the kind of game it is, and the shop prices are a massive part of it: on Normal, you can get to the next shop with a fat wallet if you play well, just racking up combos and No Damage bonuses, whereas on Hard you barely get enough for the basics. Grinding is an option, yeah, but that's no fun if you have to do it just to buy the next "required" equipment.

It's funny, DC2 is all over the place with the gimmick sections and arcade shooting, and yet it's always engaging and fun. I wonder if this game was an inspiration for RE6, because if it was, they sure as hell didn't get what makes DC2 so good...

Dylan's Antitank Rifle is still one of the most satisfying weapons in any game I've played. Damn.

Challenge Rating: 5/10
Enemies being stronger forced me to play extra carefully all the way through. And I made shop sacrifices, like some of my usual capacity upgrades. I may have made this a little harder than it should be, anyway, because I kept resetting when I got hit in certain rooms (No Damage bonuses are too good to skip).

It's a shame you don't get to play around in a post victory Hyrule, the Tarrey Town quest would fit in nicely after everything. Anyway, Ganon Fight Good. Breath of the Wild is really fucking good.

Like I'd love to see more full fledged dungeons, the ones we got were all pretty good, but I just want more of them. I'm really glad they're doing a sequel because I just want more of this game, in general.

Hello, your friendly neighborhood Obsidian shill checking in to say The Outer Worlds is Very Good.
I like turtles.
Is it Fallout: NV "good" with "grounded"/"balanced" gameplay, or is it Actually Good, with fun, interesting gameplay?

health regen doesn't seem useful compared to all the other perks
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah the regen isn't huge, it's sort of just there so you can be a little lazier about healing after combat. Maybe it makes a difference if you max it. But there's plenty of healing available.

I'm super the wrong person to ask because I love New Vegas to death, but it's certainly more polished gameplay-wise. Having more than like six months or whatever to make the game certainly helps.

What prevented me from loving NV wholeheartedly was, while the world and writing were cool, actually building a strong character seemed impossible. They especially did not need to nerf how often you can choose perks. Overall, fighting stuff was a bit of a chore, with special mention going to Cazadores.

I will say that maxing out your Luck stat and getting yourself blacklisted from every casino on the strip was good fun.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I mean, how strong your character was really depended on your gear more than perks or whatever. Like, the Cowboy perk was strong enough to make the Cowboy Repeater stay relevant toward the end of the game but it also made the Trail Carbine and Brush Gun better so the only reason to use it was the ammo being so common. Any fast weapon will fuck up a Cazador after a certain point since their armor is so low, I think 0, the problem is hitting the damn things. Some of the endgame Legionaries/NCR Soldiers/Brothrhood Jerks could get a bit spongy iirc and it's totally possible to run into them without having any real answer to them. The real dick heads were in the high level ranges in Old World Blues and Lonsesome Road, fuck that shit.

Of course I've done a ton of stupid shit in that game and also literally always play it with the trait that reduces EXP gain so the level scaling chills the fuck out, so my perception of he power curve is a little skewed. But I always felt I ended up Overpowered ~level 15 or whenever I've maxed my main combat skill.

The good news for you though is that thus far I haven't felt terribly weak at all in The Outer Worlds. You are pretty squishy early on and the weapons you get at the very beginning are trash, but your situation improves pretty quickly. And the game is much more polished overall than NV was, you can sprint, you have a dodge move, things just feel a lot smoother in combat.  You should absolutely give it a shot if you liked New Vegas at all, the gameplay definitely feels better. As a gun character anyway, no idea about the melee combat.

yeah i'm super impressed with how polished this game is. everything is pretty fast (at least compared to nv) in terms of load times. i've only found one minor bug so far, and the combat and movement feels great.

nice job @ microsoft for acquiring obsidian
never heard of this until 2 days ago now everyone everywhere is talling about it lol

it's been kind of under the radar but it truly is the fallout game we all needed and deserved

fuck it's so cool, i love the setting. makes me realize how boring the post apocalyptic thing was getting

ahh i'm getting a mass effect vibe from this game now too. you can get companions that stay with you and fight with you, but you also recruit crewmates for your ship who just hang out there. outer worlds is like all my favorite rpg shit in one game
