There is also another good solution to Guardians later on which is... more economical.
One shall stand, one shall ball.

totally optional. do you know how to kill them with a shield? that's the best way

What, can you parry their lasers?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
YOU CAN PARRY THEIR LASERS
I think I had the same reaction lmao
red chamber dream
hahaha same
When you get that parry down, you can take out waves of guardians with nothing but a pot lid
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Fun as it is to break a sword over an enemy's head I do wish there was a reliable source of basic weapons that don't break halfway through fighting a Moblin. I've been trying to save my heavy weapons for boss/miniboss types and all the lighter, quicker weapons I find just don't hold up. My run up Death Mountain was spent killing a Moblin then chasing his weapon down the mountain to replace the on I just broke over and over again lol. I know the Master Sword only goes on cooldown instead of breaking, but it seems like a waste of its durability to use it on Lizalfos and go into a Divine Beast with it at less than 100%.

I guess the solution to that is to cook up a shitload of ATK Up food and shove one in your face anytime you're going to go up against anything more than a couple Bokoblins.
yeah I'm kind of over the whole temporary weapons mechanic in that game. I really liked it when it came out, but over time the things I don't like about it came to the surface.  I miss having real dungeons too.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Ideally for this weapon mechanic, I think, you need at least a guy who can repair some of your shit. Like you can let the elemental and monster weapons still be limited since, like, shit's magic or made of wood and bone which you can't just fix. The elemental gear can remain specialty tools and the monster stuff is there to preserve your resources so you're not dumping all your cash into constantly fixing your knight's broadswords. Durability should just be higher for the more mundane weapons too, I scrounged up three knight's broadswords at one point and thought that'd last me a bit, but oh boy did it not.

There are the divine weapons that you can remake after they break but it took a diamond to fix a 22 attack spear, which seems a bit much, but the idea's sound.

the key is to start ignoring fights with enemies that won't give you weapons that are at least as good as what you already have
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'm sort of still trying to find the balance of when a fight is worth the trouble, I guess. Most stuff just breaks so fast it feels like there's no fight where I'm coming away at least even with where I started.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Like, it used to be taking out a bokoblin camp was pretty simple with just the stuff you could get in there, now there are enough higher tier boko's mixed in that it becomes a net loss to fight them and then the treasure chest has like an opal in it lol. So I guess now I have to look for where there are half decent weapons just lying around and marking them on the map so I can check back after a blood moon.
red chamber dream
hmm yeah i had the same problem

fwiw i used arrows for most of the game, bows last awhile and arrows are powerful
red chamber dream
once you get the master sword that's all you really need, i would save my good weapons for bosses and whatnot
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah the bows have been pretty solid, I just keep forgetting to refill on arrows. :v

Ultimately it's a nuisance that pops up now and then that seems more irritating than it is because I really have no major gripes with the game other than that occasional annoyance.

But my god does parrying the Guardians feel so fucking good. That slow down while the beam deforms and then zips back is maybe the greatest thing in video game history.
I should use arrows more often.  I got the twilight bow with light arrows on my first playthrough, and I loved it so much that after it was gone regular arrows seemed so weak.

My go-to move is to hold down the attack button while holding a heavy weapon and spinning around with it until my stamina runs out, which is a long time when you're wearing upgraded fierce deity armor.  It shreds all.

Silent Hill 4 is done. One Weapon Mode w/ Pickaxe of Despair.

Rules:
1. Pickaxe only;
2. No Pistol or golf clubs (they're still available even in One Weapon Mode);
3. No Sub-Machine Gun for Eileen;
4. Hard difficulty.

Pickaxe takes about a billion years to swing, haha. Slow enemies fall easily to it, but bats and other spazzy monsters are hell. Some enemies get up before you recover from the attack animation and then you can't stomp them in time. Patients (*burp*) can't even be hit if you don't start the attack a certain distance away.

I took advantage of the Room 302 healing in the first half of the game pretty much every time I dropped below 50% health. I love how the apartment changes from safe haven to worst nightmare material. That place is the coolest thing about SH4 in my opinion.

I also did the Eileen map glitch to skip the Building World fetch quest. It's surprising how little you actually have to deal with Eileen if you know the right places to ditch her.

Challenge Rating: 5/10
With a slow weapon like the Pickaxe, you often end up running and taking some damage instead of fighting. I also had to learn how to fight Andrew without silver bullets since I skipped the handgun. The run wasn't too different from the regular game otherwise. I had a fun time. This game is annoying, as ryu pointed, but I still enjoy it.

Re:BotW weapons, I like to hunt Lynels with moderate frequency. Their weapons hit hard and last decently long to the point where eventually I can't even pick them all up after a kill sometimes.
wasn't there a negative consequence to leaving eileen alone by herself?

I've been dancing around the idea of Lynel hunting. I probably have the means to take one down, but my previous run ins with them have... hurt.

In other news, a Yiga with a Windcleaver spawned in front of me during a storm and while he was busy trying to pose like a badass he got fucking obliterated by a lightning bolt. This game owns.

She might get more infected/possessed, but you can solve the areas pretty quick, and this only affects the ending anyway :)

There's also a glitchy way to heal her near the end but I can never remember how to make it work. You have to use a candle the very last time you see her or something like that, and then trigger a cutscene before she goes back to her hurt state.
@dood
I think her state also affected the hauntings in the room? Think the -one- time I played the game with a friend wie were in dire need of the health regeneration there so letting that place rot was not an option lol

@botw
Fucking Lynels. When I got good enough to beat them I was instantly disappointed that nothing they dropped was for me
red chamber dream
hey you need their drops for the best armor iirc

The health regen in the apartment stops when you leave the hospital area, regardless of Eileen's state. It's pretty scary not having regen there all of a sudden, for sure!
what the fuck. I had no idea. would be nice if the game told you >_>
