Yeah RE3 was the first horror game I played and finished by myself iirc. I don't remember much about it so it can't have been difficult.

Yeah, it's really not that bad. It was just like beating the game normally, except I didn't skip fights as much.

I think I found something scarier than Silent Hill: permadeath Silent Hill.

Rules:
1. No saving, no continues;
2. No unlockable weapons or bullet adjust;
3. GOOD+ ending;
4. Hard difficulty.

I swear, in these conditions, every death you ever had in your history with the game is suddenly a crystal clear memory. "Wait, I got mobbed in the sewer once when I was a kid, oh no, it's gonna happen again." LOL. This was fun, though. SH1 is still a horror masterpiece, and playing it this way makes it even more intense.

Incubus aka Not Samael was stupid with the lightning stunlocks. Insta red health, unless you spam heal. I was able to run in circles somewhat close to him, and used L2 + R2 to aim with the Rifle. Pretty sure this guy dies automatically if you empty your guns before the fight, but I wasn't about to Science this at the risk of starting the whole run over.

The lighthouse path was also scary, because the game runs at like 3 fps there and you have to navigate some really narrow corridors. Sewer and Nowhere were fine, I had a pretty comfy supply of boomstick ammo. Hospital was free with MC Emergency Hammer.

Challenge Rating: 6/10
We all know the game by heart at this point, so this isn't too tough. I just got so nervous knowing one death = full reset. The school kicked my butt, and that was still early in the game. I used like 10 heals there, barely had ammo when I left, haha. To be fair, the difficulty takes a nosedive after that, but I was still worried the whole time.

Never heard about that. Are you sure?

I legit can't remember the last time I died in Silent Hill 1. The game's real easy once you're used to the controls. Though the last boss can always catch you off-guard, yeah.

It seems pretty well documented, though I haven't tried it myself:

guess it makes sense to people don't get stuck when they get there low on ammo

Played up to the Angler Cave in Link's Awakening in Switch and, like, I forgot just how fucking good Link's Awakening is. Played for five minutes and "Oh right that's why this is my second favorite Zelda." And the art style is goddamned delightful. So glad this game got a remake so more people could experience it.

oh shit, yeah, i've been playing it too. same experience for me but i'm not even at the second dungeon yet

i don't remember much of this game at all, it's so fun
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I love how every time I get an item I'm like, Oh shit I can go ANYWHERE now! And then get almost immediately stone walled cause I need the fins or hookshot. Everything genuinely feels like a reward, it's really peak 2D Zelda.
red chamber dream
it makes me want a similar thing for the oracle games <3
I like turtles.
In an ideal remake, I would've wanted dedicated button for the feather, and to NOT get a textbox interrupt beyond the first pickups of a piece of power and guardian acorn, respectively.

I also thought the bosses were kept very simplistic, but wouldn't necessarily change that. Too many modern Zelda bosses are "wait out the pattern, use your new gadget to create an opening for a sword combo, and repeat two more times."
red chamber dream
totally agree on the first two, i kinda like easy bosses though

it's more about figuring out how to damage them
That textbox is still a thing? My god. Why!

The last one especially lol. Ganon form took me a bit.

The best part of Link's Awakening is all of it. There's no part where it's like, "ugh I don't want to seal with this shit right now." It's just good the whole time. Playing through it again was an absolute joy, holy shit.

Finished Fatal Frame 2 on Hard. This game is shorter than I remembered. Took 6 hours.

Rules:
1. Hard mode;
2. Try not to get spooked?

I played NG+, which was probably overkill. It was a bit too easy, except for one complete BS moment.

I like this game, but it moves slooow. The character's running speed does not match the urgency of being chased by a legion of tormented spirits, that's for sure. Another thing I dislike in FF2 is how enemies are invulnerable about 70% of the time. In FF1 you could easily stunlock and chip them.

Challenge Rating: 5/10
Most of the game is free, but Hard mode introduces an extra final boss, and this part alone bumped the rating to a 5/10. Killing the boss is easy, but triggering the fight is a pain: you have to score a Fatal Frame shot on the boss before the proper fight starts. Miss it and you die, forcing you to backtrack for 5 minutes and do the previous boss again. Yay.

Btw, I was typing something on my PC for a few minutes while the game was idle, and when I looked at the TV there was a goddamn screen size ghost face staring at me. Well played, videogame. You earned that high pitched scream.

Hey so, uh, Breath of the Wild's a pretty ok game, huh?
red chamber dream
hah no way are you playing it for the first time?
Still never played a Fatal Frame game. Think I'll add them to my list when I've come around to getting a copy of RE3 lol

They're pretty good :)

Finished Silent Hill 2, Handgun only.

Rules:
1. Handgun only;
2. Any ending except Dog (or UFO, but my version doesn't have UFO anyway);
3. Hard action difficulty.

Bullet adjust is 100% mandatory for this. There are approx. 60 handgun pickups in the game (600 ammo), and the bosses require way more than that. I still tried to go as far as I could with default ammo, but I was worried I'd run out at a point where not even bullet adjust would help, so I tweaked the pickups after the hospital.

For reference, this is how many bullets each boss took:

Pyramid Head in the apartment bldg.: 55 (IIRC you can wait for the siren and he'll leave, though, right?)
Hanging cage things: 130 or so (all three monsters)
Pyramid Head hospital chase: 16
Abstract Daddy: 90
Eddie: 45 first phase, 100 second phase
Pyramid Head duo: 300 (LMAO)
Mary: about 200... the camera makes it hard to tell if some shots hit or not

This was only my second time playing Hard action. Back then I hated the boat and the Pyramid hospital chase. The chase was free this time, honestly. I shot him a few times as soon as he appeared, then again through the fence, and ran to the elevator. Boat trip is still garbage, though. Why make the controls so complex for just one tiny section?

Challenge Rating: 5/10
It was looking pretty challenging before bullet adjust. I was prepared to give this a 7/10 if I had to be conservative all the way through. But with bullet adjust there was considerably less management, and just a lot of brute forcing and healing. I'll still rate it a 5 because Hard mode is no joke in this game.

Yeah lol. I played up until Kakariko then had to force myself to stop. Next time I play I have to figure out cooking and also how to get money? Cooking seems important,and there's a great fairy that wants 100 rupees which is just an absurd amount right now. I'm guessing money's gonna come from selling the gems I keep finding but I'm hesitant to sell them because I don't know if they have other uses yet.

I also dropped a large metal block on a Bokoblin's head and set the grass I was standing in on fire by equipping a fire arrow and burned to death.
Pretty sure you need to deal some damage to PH in the apartments for the siren to trigger.

why did you attack him during the chase? don't think i've ever needed to do that...
red chamber dream
gems do have other uses, and you will need a lot of them if you're going for 100%, but they're also the best source of rupees and aren't actually that rare
red chamber dream
cooking is totally broken and turns you into a god. have fun ;)

On Hard mode you can't outrun him, he always kills Maria. You have to stagger him a couple of times.

When I saw Temporary Hearts I thought it meant on a timer like the other buffs. I was incorrect. I see now.

Eventide Island teaches you some things.
