Yeah if this was something original we were doing then we could try to make a big deal about it. If you're ever interested in such a thing, I'll be more than happy to do the illustrations of that too. And this project here can be my way of gaining experience doing that.

I actually don't remember much about the illustrations in the HS novels.

there is also text. unfortunately bakatsuki got wanged and my automated script that was saving everything locally didn't get the full versions but you can see the text on these if you look closely. the haruhi's self-introduction one is the one i was thinking of specifically.

actually thinking about it now i really think the yuuutsu anime and the shana anime provide really good contrast in terms of handling the original work. specifically in every one of those illustrations that has been animated, the animated scene is readily recognizable. the first season of shakugan no shana by comparison seems to have been a mostly original work by jc staff.
