btw is this planned out enough to say it will be done some day?

right now I'm leaning on reading this all ocne it's all done, but who knows if that'll ever happen
you're quite a bit younger than me so even if i don't stop until after i'm dead you will probably still be able to read all of it before you die. now whether that would really be "all that was planned" in that case is another matter ...
EPISODE QCD

A new world turns at chalk jacks spinning, flicker-teasing three green eyes eating, TRUTH thinking.

Each chalk corner rotates slick-caulked: now, blue, banana, cyan, red, green.

TRUTH thickens several links, sets stripping, and defeats cyan!

Green-now waits silent to stab blue ...

... but banana stops such charms.

Sigh.

Next try. Unconnect/touch each chalk.

Green near-red dates slick Kannagi's sticks while nice cyan needs green ...

... but banana stops, still limp. It's drunk cooks' skunk-caulk inoculation!

Next try.

Suck creamy green now with thicker red to stop banana's stop post-stop, caulk covering each channel, licking it tenderly, eating what's sticking.

Tasty. Now red -

Cyan! Stop! Stop! Stop!

Right. Red.

Cyan in green, banana now, blue, red ... banana ... green ... cyan.

White-thick caulk drips and stops.

There.

Next step.

***

Glue soups self-stir.

TRUTH rises; drips. On shorelines sits SHADE, slinky-slick eyestraps wrapped no-slack.

Six eyes say hello in English.

Spurious pusses, sandy-soft, taste-touch. TRUTH stares. SHADE smiles.

Hoshi smacks Kagami, sleeping. Kagami smacks Hoshi, awake.

YOU MUST TRANSFORM.

Sure, shes say in sync, eyes hinting, mixed sick grins sticking.

Wrapping fingers, quiet tickles swarm mindlessly across fascinated Satens. SHADE's eyes slip up, pleasure written on each. TRUTH thinks softly: fingers swift, feeling, loose frock thick-caulked.

Lips seat. One tickle-tongue eats: spiders' stomachs suck conjugal-liquid dreams.

Eyes swim. Meat trickles sweet-tasty, each chalk caulked direct.

Limbs soak, crease, seat, taste, tickle, lick, come together right.

Eyes steal locking limbs, shining, single singing circle-wing extending. Ringing, circles seek/crease circles, circumscribing each.

Sand nuzzles several legs sinking, glass stars spreading, steaming beach-chalk cocoon's splinter-seams snapping. Metamorphosis sears its sight; tells Satens single late truths.

Satens see each choice. "Saten sees" sees she isn't.

Each chalk keeper reaches saturation; kneads inward; dreads ...

There is nothing to fear.

The seed shatters.

ALICE sees six chalk colors.

Afterword:

i'd known about the ban on geminates in english for a long time, but it took the mars volta to kick-start this thing. i have no idea what it is. it's the world's highest concentration of ambisyllabicity. it's saten's amazing trip.

i decided to adopt 072's mirror shade design. there are two nice things about writing something unpublishable. the first is that i can go back and change anything at any time. the second is that there's no need.

i realized in the middle of writing the second act that it could be considered masturbation (because she is pleasuring herself - common criticisms of fanfic aside). but she has two bodies until the very end, so does that definition still fit? i believe this problem to be well within the spirit of the railgun series.

if you want to check my work, i call antired "cyan," antigreen "now," and antiblue "banana."

can definitely hear the mars volta in there. in fact that's all it is to me ... sounds like it could be from wax simulacra or something. my favorite ep yet.
there were originally direct references - direct quotes of several words instead of just single words (e.g. "inoculation" which i loved too much to cut because chalk/caulk/cock fits right into it).

it seems like when i'm cutting stuff most of the time direct references like that get cut because they break up the flow too much. like originally instead of six eyes say hello in english and before the scene with the cats there was this:

Quote:
Six eyes ask: Help me come alive!

An invocation.

so i wanged two references in one when i cut that, the latter being to shpongle 3 of course. and also to 1x8x1 but i was pretty sure this thing was still self-referential enough.

originally i was in love with this episode and i thought it was the best thing ever but as the days went on i hated it more and more. but if you liked it then maybe i made the right decisions. safe to say i won't be doing another one like this in the near future though.
Club 27 Goals
Even though I really don't get these, they are an interesting read (maybe if I had read the manga it would make more sense?)
lol. at this point, i doubt it. thanks.
INTERPELLATION

Alice, among rocks, looks beyond the shore to the horizon, sun catching in her three eyes, slow, cool breeze passing through her hair, seawater working out of sight behind her. She is the adult Saten: even taller. Her small wicker basket changes hands as she searches.

Where are those cats?

After a moment, she starts off anyway, sure she will see them again.

They always seem to show up when I need them.

A few steps and grass has grown upon the sand. To three eyes thin blades bow now, the breeze visible there, purring, her hand on a cat's back.

But someone flicks her neck.

... what?

Drops touch elsewhere. There is something crawling in the grass now. There are several of them.

Fine hairs cover each segment. They are white with a touch of green. They are filling up the grass. There is a rustle for each new entry.

Alice turns. There are so many now that the grass's motion is overcome by the sum of each worm, a bloated white devouring it. Some drop on her hands, tickling as they crawl.

Staggering, she retreats, feet rising barely fast enough to plant upon each new worm-level, crushing too few, the mass more often on top, a stream of soft hairs sliding down her skin.

Now her head is under, and, as she gasps for air, one enters her, and she bites down on it, afraid, and liquid gushes out, the hairs tickling her cheek from the inside, the sweet nectar prickling under her skin, and she is at home again, her mother watching over her. She doesn't have to think about what she has to do.

Worms spread as one, leaving Alice alone in the short grass, a perfect circle surrounding her, venerating the center. The bubbling border is easily reached but comfortably far.

She takes a step forward and the spotlight follows. They respect her.

Falling to her hands and knees, she lashes out and latches on to two. She stuffs one in each side and crushes them between her teeth, the rough juice thundering down her throat. She doesn't have to think about what she has to do.

Lunging forward, she cuts into them, swinging arms collecting, open mouth catching the raindrops by happy chance. The life passing into her is a guilty pleasure, but no one is watching her. She also plunges several into the basket she carries. Those so captured are unmoving, waiting.

A grassy path poking out into the mass invites her to take a break.

Behind a hill, a grove appears on the left, with one willow purring as the breeze passes. Young children picnic under its cover, alone.

Turning, smiling, they hail her arrival, but they do not rise save one, who twists up and approaches her directly, unafraid.

Alice!

It is young Saten.

***

Settling in the grass with Saten, Alice finds food in her basket and offers it to her young. Saten opens her mouth, two eyes closing, ready. For her small body, the taste looms large, and pleasure rises from her skin. Gasping, she can scarcely swallow the sweet juice.

Other, more timid kids draw in slowly, curious. They do not move as one, as the worms did. One girl, taller than the rest, grasps a boy by his head and coerces him. After taking that place nearest Alice, two eyes make it known that she is first in line.

Alice rises. Confused, Saten follows with her eyes. Alice's smile reminds Saten, who too hops up, then turns and points directly at a tiny girl unmoving behind the crowd.

Children move, many eyes sliding across Alice, some across Saten; motionless is the bony girl in back wearing a different school uniform. Her eyes make clear that she will wait her turn.

Alice moves immediately the three steps to the unmoving member Saten indicated, bending forward, her face nearing the girl's, whose own dark eyes widen ever so slightly, her surprise rising, Alice invading. Those forbidding eyes twinkle crimson. She won't accept Alice, but she can't stop her.

My name is Ruiko Saten, Alice offers in the quietest English, sure none of the others can hear, soft breath reaching out and touching her opponent hearing the name, whose remaining control fades, her mouth opening, her self-introduction following and Alice smiling, but little Himeko can't see that smile with the other's lips below her, out of sight.

The willow's leaves lean.

Right hand rising, sliding up Himeko's face, Alice sends a message in a bottle, plucking up another worm with her left hand, moving to Himeko's mouth with her right, the worm docile, its imminent trip apparently unproblematic, slipping into the young girl's mouth, whose waiting tongue picks up and cradles its food, bite closing, sweet liquid flowing down, down, down, and down.

***

Kai Himeko's fingers slide through sand. Waves grind the ground.

The sun spins in her head. She tries to right herself, but the sand keeps slipping out from under her, pouring off Tokiwadai's uniform.

Where am I?

There is a sound like a high speed saw cutting into wood.

The sand is moving. Now it is a cat, leaving.

A shrill, male voice, suddenly: YOU MUST FOLLOW.

Himeko tries every direction, but there is no one to see.

... Why?

YOU MUST JOIN ALICE.

It seems to be coming from the direction of the cat.

Who is Alice?

YOU MUST KNOW ALICE.

No ... I don't know any Alice. Is this a dream? Ow! ...

There is no response. Turning, the sandy cat bounds up and down dunes, something red flashing behind it. Himeko's head stretches as if a metal clamp were turning down between her ears.

With the cat nearly gone, she finally sets off after it, hands raised in front of her chest, palms out, ready to stop herself should she fall.

Staggering, she cries quietly, the pain in her head visible in the sky. A red beacon bounces behind the cat as it leaps and pads, drawing shapes in her vibrating eyes.

The sand becomes easier after a while, and the waves fade. Now small blades of grass poke out from the sandy earth.

The sun's spin slowing, Himeko pauses to gaze up at a path the cat seems eager to follow. There is something like white string attached to the cat's back. It disappears behind a hill.

Himeko begins to run, hoping not to lose the cat after wasting so much time on it already. Her small legs do little.

The hill grows larger and then, rounding, stops at a tall willow peering down, the breeze slipping through, many arms waving, young children all moving save one in the back, Himekos' eyes meeting, a cool, quiet young lady encountering again a cold, bony little girl for the first time, the woman in the center holding the cat approaching, three eyes smiling, bowing: yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

PERIHELION

Is this a dream?

Silent, Alice turns instead to little Himeko making her way forward through the crowd to greet the new arrival. Kagami purrs quietly in Alice's arms, white wire tail curling, fur folding in the gentle breeze matching and fashioning a symphony with the even softer purr of the willow leaves working in waves out of sight.

Before Himeko now, little Himeko says hello in English, her curiosity overflowing: Do you remember?

A shadow passes over the willow grove, a frame around the picture of the present. Looking up past her, she watched the clouds covering the sun; looking down at her face covered in shadow, she remembers the maids and the hot meals and the other schoolgirls, all ambitious and proud. Everyone sat around a huge table and helped themselves. Her food was never cold.

Little Himeko reached up to the other, who stared at the hand. The bony flesh is grotesque, a copy of her tiny body. She saw herself: older, hair shorter, with a ridiculously short skirt, cool and confident, reaching out to her, palms meeting, sliding together, warmth growing between, spreading, the past repeating twice through a one-way mirror.

But if this really happened once before, then is everything I'm doing now set in stone?

What a stupid dream!

Himeko immediately thinks of killing the girl. Her eyes slide down her tiny body, judging. There's no way I could have defended myself. And I don't remember dying here ... yes!

Her grip tightened on her hand. Her face betrays her confusion.

Seconds passed.

There is no other reaction.

Her cool stare turned to inquisition, to probing, to disbelief. She broke free of the older Himeko and took a step back, wondering: Why am I holding on so tightly? Why am I looking at me like that?

Then Alice says something in Japanese that little Himeko also didn't understand:

Our powers work differently here.

Many leaves twist in the wind behind Alice, the tide brushing softly across each, purring.

Three eyes smile, waiting for Himeko to figure it out.

***

Your ability is the one called Aero Hand?

Alice shrugs: I guess so. You're a pyrokineticist?

Yes ...

Himeko waits for Alice now. In the past, she didn't understand this conversation. Adults were talking in a foreign language.

Continuing, Alice points at the willow. Himeko remembers something loud and bright - and nothing after it. Now she understands what it was. It is different from her memory of it because she understands what it was. It is very different. She stops to wonder whether it is really the same.

It hasn't happened yet! How could I say?!

The humor of the situation is not lost on Himeko even as her frustration ratchets: she laughs softly, hands rising for the last time, palms out, a hiss folding into and over the wind, the children turning to the willow at the center, now backing away from it, the hiss-pitch spiking beyond human hearing; and then it is gone, shrapnel screeching past and lava erupting behind, black smoke exploding up and out, low in the sky, flashes of lightning passing through and down to the ground, flames spreading everywhere, thunder and wind howling.

The children, knocked to the ground, lie motionless in shock. Then they are consumed by molten rock pouring from the hole in the earth where the tree stood.

Liquid glass rushes past Alice's feet and falls like rain, smacking into her, dripping off her burning flesh even as she still strokes Kagami's back, the cat oblivious.

Three eyes ask: Level Upper did this to you?

No, I was already close. I am ... or I was a Level 4.

Then why did you use it?

Vanishing in the flames, face covered in ash and the shadow of smoke, cool stare moving to Alice, Himeko says goodbye in English.

the only word i read is perihelion which is a word i learned in my astronomy class recently. perhaps if i actually read the story, i'd understand why you chose that word.
red chamber dream
it's just railgun fanfic though so no reason to bother :P
are you reading it?
red chamber dream
not anymore, i sort of skim i guess
red chamber dream
as soon as 072 got involved i stopped bothering because i was no longer an audience for it
i guess i'm still waiting for mip3
red chamber dream
the first ep i thought was great though
072 isn't the only audience
i still think about your reaction to personal reality all the time actually
but i have so little control over it that it's hard to steer it in any particular direction
and that's kind of not the point of it anyway so it doesn't really bother me
