Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
This topic is for 1%SSers. I've looked through the latest four or so pages and can't find one, so I decided to start one here.
Some interesting points to note about my progress:
-I intentionally take damage against Arachnus, tending to lose about 70 health each time, and still manage to suck because I'm horrible at rapidfiring, plus he sometimes rolls up and I end up missing a couple missiles. Also, it seems as though you can't double-hit Irachnus's CO-X. It still takes 3 rounds. Does the second missile do less damage or something?
-I totally copy Sess through Sector 1, but I take out the fourth (DD's last) fan in one hit. I also usually have enough missiles by the time I reach the Eye-guy leading to CH-X, so I don't need to refill on the toadies.
-No fear through Sector 2, except for SA-X. I start running to the exit and see the flashlight disappear just shortly before I reach it, probably slightly faster than DD. I lose a bit more than a second on ZA-X though, because I hang on the left ledge and climb back up as the fight starts for absolutely no reason (it can still hit you up there). It forms, but takes a couple seconds longer. Also, this gets my vote for funnest sector.
-In AQA, I am VERY inconsistent at SE-X. Sometimes I end up shooting its face like 6 times before it's through, sometimes 2 charges are enough. I also spark at the bottom of the shaft leaving its room.
-I've been doing the Corrolax speed trick in PYR less and less frequently every time I try it. Reverse Ice Missiles is easier, IMO (but I'm afraid to try it in the run). I'm also good against BO-X.
-Fairly consistent sparking through the NOC barrier, sometimes passing over the ledge behind it. I also have this SA-X chase me. I fear no puffers, but ME-X is a bastard, in the M1 sense.
-I can finally remember to grab ice missiles before talking to Adam again in ARC.
-I spark through southern PYR and back up, though, so I get like 4:0X.XX (sometimes 4:1X.XX) on the Emergency In Sector Three mission. I also have trouble Jump Extending to save the aminals.
-I'm getting better at the gauntlet, but last time, I left one alive and it kept shooting at me as I kept trying to shoot the EyeGuy. It's got REALLY long range. Took half my health that led to me dying only a couple hits from beating YA-X (I couldn't dodge the beam so I jumped through the door too early to get the re-x >_<).
That's usually as far as I get. One thing I hope for if somebody does break the current record, though, is the Reverse Ice Missiles. Greatest trick in Fusion next to Pogo-OM, IMO. I've never recorded any runs because I don't have the means necessary. I'm probably not gonna even come close until I can afford a GC and recording device, though, so I may not even need someone else's. A lot of the things I do pose next to no risk (like never moving right from the room under the L1 security release up to the bombs), so DD's caution seems rather excessive to me. I understand that it's not really a speedrun, but that's a bit too clear IMO. >_>
So anybody else have tips to share? Any quick tricks that don't put you in much danger?
