This topic is for 1%SSers. I've looked through the latest four or so pages and can't find one, so I decided to start one here.

Some interesting points to note about my progress:

-I intentionally take damage against Arachnus, tending to lose about 70 health each time, and still manage to suck because I'm horrible at rapidfiring, plus he sometimes rolls up and I end up missing a couple missiles. Also, it seems as though you can't double-hit Irachnus's CO-X. It still takes 3 rounds. Does the second missile do less damage or something?

-I totally copy Sess through Sector 1, but I take out the fourth (DD's last) fan in one hit. I also usually have enough missiles by the time I reach the Eye-guy leading to CH-X, so I don't need to refill on the toadies.

-No fear through Sector 2, except for SA-X. I start running to the exit and see the flashlight disappear just shortly before I reach it, probably slightly faster than DD. I lose a bit more than a second on ZA-X though, because I hang on the left ledge and climb back up as the fight starts for absolutely no reason (it can still hit you up there). It forms, but takes a couple seconds longer. Also, this gets my vote for funnest sector.

-In AQA, I am VERY inconsistent at SE-X. Sometimes I end up shooting its face like 6 times before it's through, sometimes 2 charges are enough. I also spark at the bottom of the shaft leaving its room.

-I've been doing the Corrolax speed trick in PYR less and less frequently every time I try it. Reverse Ice Missiles is easier, IMO (but I'm afraid to try it in the run). I'm also good against BO-X.

-Fairly consistent sparking through the NOC barrier, sometimes passing over the ledge behind it. I also have this SA-X chase me. I fear no puffers, but ME-X is a bastard, in the M1 sense.

-I can finally remember to grab ice missiles before talking to Adam again in ARC.

-I spark through southern PYR and back up, though, so I get like 4:0X.XX (sometimes 4:1X.XX) on the Emergency In Sector Three mission. I also have trouble Jump Extending to save the aminals.

-I'm getting better at the gauntlet, but last time, I left one alive and it kept shooting at me as I kept trying to shoot the EyeGuy. It's got REALLY long range. Took half my health that led to me dying only a couple hits from beating YA-X (I couldn't dodge the beam so I jumped through the door too early to get the re-x >_<).

That's usually as far as I get. One thing I hope for if somebody does break the current record, though, is the Reverse Ice Missiles. Greatest trick in Fusion next to Pogo-OM, IMO. I've never recorded any runs because I don't have the means necessary. I'm probably not gonna even come close until I can afford a GC and recording device, though, so I may not even need someone else's. A lot of the things I do pose next to no risk (like never moving right from the room under the L1 security release up to the bombs), so DD's caution seems rather excessive to me. I understand that it's not really a speedrun, but that's a bit too clear IMO. >_>

So anybody else have tips to share? Any quick tricks that don't put you in much danger?

You do know I'm going to, right? I have all the necessary equipment, and my goal is 0:53/52.

BS (your nick, I mean), I have heard many a-claiming to be beating this run soon. This has been going on for over a year. So far, nobody's produced an actual run. I'm not just gonna stop because somebody is aiming for much quicker, because statistically speaking, it's not likely you're gonna complete it. :^P

I don't mean to doubt you specifically or anything, it's just that I think this is the third time you've told me about your attempt, and I usually just said "don't get cancer" before. I'm only setting my goal so high because my personal bests for this game are like 6 minutes longer than the record. Since my multi-segment 1% has a lot of segments and ended at :56, I'm guessing my SS is gonna probably be :57/:58. DD shot simply for completion, and I guess so am I to a point. He's probably better than me, but I feel I'm putting more effort into it, and should be able to beat an hour if at all. I'm not saying he didn't try very hard, he just didn't do as much preparation for speed tricks and such. 1%SS alone is a great achievement that anybody can and should be very proud of (as a gaming accomplishment). I just think if I ever got under :55 having so literal natural skill, I should be ashamed to have spent so much of my life on it. :^P

This run is pure suicide.  Rolling Eyes

My best 1% multi segment is 57 and it took almost 2 weeks and many, many, many deaths complete.

go go go guys.

I wondering if somebody can complete that.

Biospark are you trying speedrun 1% segmented run? What is your best time?

Your SS goal sounds human impossible if you mean try 53 minutes without any saves.

Hey me too!

You mean sub-hour, right? Because Dragon Darch already has a 1:06 up.

If I remember correctly he's only trying single segment.

Hey, if SS :51 can be done, 1% 53 is at least possible. I'm guessing he's gonna pull off a :54 though.
Speedrunner
Well. I think 53 min 1% SS is only theoretical possible on console, but can anybody really complete that?

Your must be are bit cautions, because many enemys kill you in 1-2 hit, and without save you need extremely lucky dodge, avoid all little mistake. It is really frustrating.

Kridly SS run was amazing his eye door lucky working almost perfectly and he have 3 et and 35 missile max. It made game at least millions time easier than 1% run.

I have really trouble beat Big core X in 4 hit on 1% run, because boss caused randomly damage per hit, sometimes boss drains 40 energy point sometimes 20. I think it is theoretical impossible complete that in 4 hits without saves. Took at least 3-4 hours complete that in 4 hits my 57 min 1% run. Any-% battle is at least 1000000 times easier beat in 4 hits because you have enought energy tanks max.

I think your must be bit cautions against Yakuza (second forms) and Ridley. Ridley is pure lucky if you use Wassup dawgs method. Wassupdawgs method is much faster than Dragondarch method

Second trouble is enemys. Enemys moves very randomly and located everytimes different places. You need lot manipulate lucky if you try moves fast enought on 1% game. This not caused trouble on any-% SS, but in 1% SS, everysingle enemy ruined your game really fast, if you don,t are enought cautions. Can anybody have enought manipulate luck complete that in 53 min?

Third reasons is eyedoors, you not can have perfect luck here. I think 10-15 beams on SS run is really good total. But still you lose lot times.

But we can see. I can belive next 1% SS records is 58-59 minutes. And still sub hour is really amazing 1% SS run.

go go go crazy mans. Almost every attempt is suicide JEEEEE laugh new
I basically have a "strategy" for every boss, most of them arent really problems. I hardly die on mega-x, 2nd form of yakuza I only die on if I lose my concentration, and I have a strategy for ridley that never fails.

As for the time, I did a crappy practice ss run awhile ago and got :55 with about 2 minutes of mistakes, so I'd say :53 is a very real possibility.

WHOA!!!!! aiwebs_016

Hopefully you recorded. I really want see your run. Shocked
I finished my tas, which should be out by the end of the week hopefully, so I'll have time to practice. I'll try to do another practice run.
hahah. so much fun to be so far ahead of other people they have no hope of catching up.

That's good to hear, Biospark, but don't get cancer. Also, don't get in any big arguments until the run is up, or you're surely gonna end up taking it back and disappointing everyone.

It is possible to kill his core-x with 2 rounds. I once got it luckily on a failed 1 % SS attempt.
Btw i once managed to do a 1% SS but i only did it in 1:06 and i haven´t recorded it. In my opinion Fusion is a metroid game which is really hard to speedrun. Don´t laugh now, but i really have no skill in speed here. I also can´t believe the 55 1% SS without a proof. That means i think it´s lied!

Actually, since unskippable dialogue/cutscenes adds up to at least 45 minutes, a single segment run requires almost 2 hours of patience and concentration. Not to mention it's less speedful than all the other games.
I was wondering if someone could explain me the strategy for ridley in a 1% percent run.
I did allready some segmented 1 % runs and a SS would be a new challenge... but I'm not even trying it, cause the victory over ridley was pure luck I guess without any strategy...
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
Constantly space jump in one of the top corners shooting charge beams with R while aiming at Ridley's head

That's not the strat BioSpark uses though, is it? Doesn't he use a strategy involving constantly charging and using the AI tendencies to get it to stay immobile for the most part?
Yes, sort of, I'll see if I can make a video sometime.
