well, I'd still love to see a video of someone attempting a single segment run!

thanks for all the compliments guys!  and no, Rob was not intended, I just wanted an obstacle in the way, and until you mentioned it I never saw rob.

But the video I downloaded by Drewseph and by Saturn really is a finished single segment TAS....  Rolling Eyes

I tried doing one and the furthest I got to was the one big room in Norfair with acid and an Energy tank (after getting the Grapple Beam).
BiggestSchnoz:  that video was made entirely by me.  and thats a TAS, not a single segment, a SS is when you do not rely on save states and perfection, but go for fast time and no saves.

@BLS -  Awesome work, thats a tough area to get by I commend you for getting that far!

I am currently stuck on that room.  I've spent at least twice as much time trying to get through that room as I did on the Hell's run (I refuse to use savestates at any point in this run).  Any tips?
I have a tip:  use save states.  That room is just the first of many instant-death places.
Not really, thats is the only room where you'll  die a horrible death easily.  the second is the speedbooster escape.  there are no other traps as difficult as that in the hack
I guess I just fall into lava way too much then.

What?!
Ehhhhh, started to play this. Even though it is a great mod (not a hack anymore, a MOD) it becomes a complete pain at the very beginning! First off i had to guess what was that mirror thing, which was an actual mirror for missiles. Now this: What is the timing to use the bomb climb? Can't return to the ship because i'm forced to learn it.

[EDIT] By the way... is there a map for this?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
If by bomb-climb, you mean doing so infinitely, the timing is: Lay a bomb, lay another just before it blows up, fall about one tile height, lay a third bomb, as the second bomb jumps you back up, lay a bomb at the peak, continue to lay a bomb at the peak of each jump.  But remember, i don't think this is ever needed, just handy.  To get back to the ship area, you have to acquire the wall-jump boots.

And yes, there is a map, but I won't post a link to it, as you've only just started, and I don't think it should be used until you're really stuck with something, or you're seeking 100%. Razz
He's talking about the DBJ timing.  Basically, if you can Double Bomb Jump in Metroid Prime 1/2/3, you can do it in Redesign.  The timing is almost exactly the same.  Learn it well, DBJ is required throughout the game.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
In that case, Kaiser, you need to lay a bomb, another just before it goes off, and a third at the peak of your jump.  That should see you up there, but as FirePhoenix mentioned, you'll need it plenty of times, so practice it now so that you don't struggle later on. Very Happy
Another play-through, even more awesome than the one before (and the one before that, and the one before that, etc).    The best hack ever, hands down.    83.4 %

What?!
Oh well... Still the best mod ever... and let's say i'm stuck with a question that is more than a trouble. Have about 67 Missiles, 4 Supers, and only 2 tanks. Been all around before falling through that hole where there's flying thingies that have to be frozen (before Kraid's area) so i can return, and still could not find the third Tank, which is required to survive the first hell run.

Quietus MAH BOI! Please tell me where it's hidden!
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You could try taking a wander up to this room.  (Attached)

While you're in there, perhaps you could go for a little st-roll in the spikes. Wink

There is a reason why I put a "Dot" on that square on the map =)

You also put one on the map to the right of Crocomire, but there's nothing there.  I've always wanted to ask about that.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I thought that dot was always there, even in the original? Eh?
In the original there is an energy tank there
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Yeah, I wasn't very clear wth my post, but I think that Drewseph said (fairly recently too) that he left it there deliberately...  Or so he claims. Wink
Opium, in the original there is a dot where crocomire dies.  there is also a dot where the etank is several screens away

Ah, so the dot in redesign simply represents croco ?
Just like the dot in the original, the dot represents croco

D: These are the kind of things that make me go nuts! Thanks for the help!
But... as it is becoming usual, i'm stuck again! Now it's the Lava Pool Dive, the one with many power bomb blocks and green gates, that i think that will lead to the Grapple hook thing. It looks that i'm missing 2 e-tanks for this one (have 4).

[Item list]
4 e-tanks
87 missiles (i think)
6 supers
8 powers
Charge Beam
Ice Beam
Wall Boots
Bomb
Morph
