Ah, header issue. If your ROM is 3073 KB get the headered version, 3072 is unheadered. I got it to work perfectly on my ZSNES 1.51, and SNES 9X 1.43 and 1.51 improvement betas (with the unheadered results). Or else, you might have a messed up rom to start with.

Metroid Prime had Beam Swapping, which was vital in this game, only the annoying part is having to pause all the time. The Beam Combo lets you do the Beam Stacking.

Kneel before the great & powerful chOZo

I'm stumped. I beat Kraid and now I can't leave the area. Been trying for over 2 hours. On the right is a dead end save station, on the left is an elevator to norfair. I dont last 25 seconds in norfair because i have no varia. I can't go up from kraid's area because I have no ice beam. How do I get out of this area ?

I haven't played it for awhile, but if I recall...

You are supposed to go through Norfair. You have to rush through to a non-heated room with an energy refill. After collecting the Ice Beam just beyond that, you return to Brinstar.

Yeah I finally found it on youtube. Lets see how many attempts it takes me to do this run. *sigh* THX

UPDATE: FINALLY I did it. Thank God for save states and for youtube. The segment between the gamet nest and the energy/missile refill room is the hardest part.

I'm having a hard time keeping my charge while shinesparking. I press down to hold the charge, but when it comes to flying towards an incline so that I could hold the charge again, samus just keeps on flying until she hits something. Is it not like Fusion where you just have to press down again to stop and start the charge over again?

I could never figure it out. When it worked, it was by accident.

You have to either hold Run or Forwards, or both, I really can't remember

FINALLY beat this hack! That escape run was intense, I didn't expect that. Thank gawd for save states. My total clear time was 24:13, because it took me over 8 hours to find the last guardian. Percentage was 82.4?% I'm gonna go through a second time now that I know where all the guardians are and see if I can locate the majority of the remaining items.

Can you apply the Justin Bailey patch to Redesign? If so, do you apply it before the RD patch, or after?

The Justin Bailey patch will work, on the headered version of Redesign (since JB itself is for headered ROMs). You patch it after the Redesign patch. I hard-patch it as always. And mind the garbage that the emulator gives you. It doesn't affect the game itself.

My ROM is headerless and so were my patches for RD & JB. Fortunately I figured out how to add a header to my ORM using NSRT, it was alot easier than I thought.

sorry if this has already been asked but where the hell do i go after the long norfair run.
ive obtained ice beam from a room but i cant see anywhere else to go unless i missed something.

This is a really great hack. I played through and now I'm trying the 100%. But there are two things, I can't figure out.

1) In Crateria, the room with Samus' ship, there is a Super Missile Shutter you can only reach after a few Shinesparks. I activated it and it opens....what?
2) Again in Crateria, a room left of the ship, about the same level, there is a Power Bomb above a Super Missile Block leading to a Morph Ball tunnel. Since there is no infinite Bomb Jump in SM : RD (?) I can't reach the Power Bomb. It's to high and you can't stand up to jump in the tunnel. How do I reach the PB? 0o

The green switch at the landing site opens the gate at the upper right corner of the room, allowing u to get the missile expansion. maybe you did it a long time ago and forgot?

I' m not sure which PB u are talking about in crateria. It's true that no IBJ is required to beat RD, but certain difficult moves ARE required to get 100%, and I think IBJ is one of them

IBJ is only required in 2 places, and of course, just for expansions.

I believe that there are only two that required IBJ: one in the morphball maze in Norfair that is covered by 2 Speed Booster blocks, and that Power Bomb tank room that you were in.

Those expansions were among the last I collected on my first run, because I frankly can't IBJ for the life of me (though, given, it is much harder on a keyboard than it is on a gamepad) The same goes for the Speed Mockball for the Super Missile tank in Maridia, except I can't mockball on the console, let alone on a keyboard :P

I can't believe I'm playing through this game again. What's my next goal after gravity? I went to maridia but ended up taking an elevator to green brinstar. Am I supposed to pwn Ridley before Draygon?

I can't remember. I once saw a huge walkthrough that someone had typed up, but I didn't book mark it and for some reason I just can't seem to find it. Anyone have a link?

This is my 4th time playing through redesign, and for the first time ever, I got that bloody etank in maridia.
Recharging your spark has got to be the most ingenious concept ever.

If I recall properly I think Drew said that you can do either Ridley or Draygon (I think it was at some point during Axeil's Let's Play of the game)
