What destroys the tube to one of the guardians in Maridia. Ridley?
Guess what guys? I am playing Super Metroid: Redesign ON MY WII!!!
I don't know if this has been discovered yet, but I was fooling around in one of the watery areas pre-gravity, and found out that HBJ in Redesign is really easy as long as you don't mind losing a very small amount of height as you go. I'm not sure if this is even useful, but it could be used to cross long gaps underwater without the gravity if optimized (this was made unassisted).

edit: this uses v2.1 unheadered, but is contained to one room, so no desync should occur. It was also made with snes9x improvement 9

Totally off topic, but I'm a little intrigued.
I much prefer to play on my PC, but I've thought about how I might play hacks on the Wii.  How exactly did you do it?

First things first, check out the twilight hack: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Twilight_Hack, second, make sure you have Twilight princess, and an SD card, and of course a wii...

Also, why would you want to play on PC, this guys optimized SNES9x for Wii, with the vc controller, all the buttons are mapped out to their snes counterparts, A is A Y is Y etc...
I've been wondering, Can somebody upload ALL the existing version of Redesign? I 'm just curious as to what has changed

Edit Button is your friend.

What I hear is between version differences is plain up bug-fixes and somesuch.
I want the version before drewseph restarted the entire project

I'm also serious, from what I hear Drewseph deleted the old one entirely. Your best recourse is to ask him yourself I suppose.
I had a patch of the Crateria hack  however I did end up losing it.  I also lost my initial Crateria/brinstar/Norfair hack.  the first pass on those was obviously much more rough and the area was not as large as it currently is.  however I overwrote those back up files as I kept making back ups as I edited.  sorry to disappoint anyone.
Do you have the "Developer's Version" that you talk about in one of your videos? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-350555278300981595&hl=en

And or, do you have the rest of that video?
If you're referring to Axeil's video in which Proteus said that the developer's edition should be "a big fuck you with an invincible mother brain", that was a joke.

Speaking of which, Drewseph, how is the Axeil edition coming along?

Finally got through this hack a second time.  8:57, 93.9%    Forgot how awesome the escape is!

Out of curiosity, is it at all feasible to skip grapple in an unassisted run? Specifically, is there any reasonable way (say, one that doesn't require IBJing out of water as in Saturn's TAS) of getting early high jump boots?
You can skip both (moreso, you can't take the HJ without Grapple if unassisted, so you don't really have a choice). It requires reasonable skill in keeping shinespark charge through rooms, and knowing some alternative paths in Brinstar and Norfair, but nothing close to tool-assistance. I'd say, if there was a way to make an SDA-legit segmented speedrun of this game, 1:50-1:55 would be a feasible goal.
I have really liked this hack. I have finished this hack but I forgot what's the time and percent. I have played this somewhat long time ago but it was done on my nintendo wii, not my PC.
OMG FLAN!!!!!!!
I remember finishing this one. I played this pretty much right after the original SM, and admittidly, I thought it was the only hack out there until I found M2K2... Embarassed

I had 100% of items, but my time was about 40 hours. Only cause I used the X-ray in every room to find all the items, and some of those were ******** rediculous.
Even with Xray, 100% in redesign is no easy task.  The maridia shinespark chain is too long and hard for me, nobody seems to be able to put into words how to hold your charge when shinesparking into a slope.  Only works like half of the time for me.

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I remember having difficulty with this when I began doing them, but here goes:

HOLD RUN ALL THE TIME! (Or press and hold it during the horizontal spark if you have enough time)

Face the slope, then press jump, immediately followed by the direction you need (to start the horizontal shinespark).
Keep hold of the direction when you press it, so when you hit the slope you should be holding run and the direction, causing you to be running at full speed again.
You can now just press down again, like a normal charge for the next shinespark.

Rinse, and repeat.

I hope this helps.  Very Happy

EDIT: For clarity.

thats exactly what I've been doing, and those are the same instructions for holding a charge in fusion or zm (except without the run button being held down of course).  I shinespark horizontally but half the time when I hit the slope i just keep on flying.
defrag in progress
100% is impossible for me...if not for the spark chains than for the dozens of other tricks required.

I also faced this shinespark problem. I never quite figured out, what`s the "crucial parameter". Does it depend on where you hit the slope (upper/lower part)?
Maybe drewseph can clarify that.
I'm sure I understand what's your roadblock here, but basically, you need to be flying horizontally, and press and hold both forward+run immediately (before hitting the slope!). As for the height, just make sure you aren't jumping too high. If the slope is one block high, your jump must be equal or lower.
