ok, so I found a path right after posting, but the door barely a screen past it seems to be unreachable without some of those advanced moves that I am horrible at doing, specifically, a speed-boosted morphball form. I'm sure i got the easy version so i shouldn't need to do that, right?
edit: nvm, i'm a moron for posting too fast about it.
try that thing in the hard version, and feel the pain xd
I just got done doing Hells Run (I used 1 tank, I didn't know you could have 2 tanks to do it) and speed booster. I went up the elevator to the far left. It looks like I'm supposed to bomb jump back through the fall I came from, but I dunno how to do it without hitting one of those 4 flying beetles. I'm thinking bomb jump up, but doing weird angled bomb jumps out of a wall jump only lets me do it like once or twice, it wouldn't be enough to get up there. I'm thinking I'm on the right track, but not positive.
also for future reference, how do you do spoilers?
Your question was answered in the post literally right above yours; make sure you look for answers to your questions before asking them.
You need to kill Kraid next, who can be reached from the elevator room between Juolbrin and Keruarn.
And to use spoiler tags, you can type
text between the tags
tags to achieve this affect:
text between the tags
or you can use
text between the tags
to get this:
I think I'm in way over my head here with this game. :) I'm playing the easy version, and I've gotten the morphing ball, the 1st energy tank, and the 1st missile pack. I'm not sure where to go at this point. I took the elevator back up to Surripere and I'm stuck between the gray doors. I found the breakable blocks in the floor that take you down to a few space pirates. After I kill them, is it a matter of doing a well timed mid air morph to go back up through the ceiling / floor the way I came down?

yes, wall-jump to mid-air morph to get back up (after you've killed all of the pirates in the lower part of the room)

Yeah, and on easy mode that's probably about the hardest trick there is. :P
Hiya. I created an account just to leave my comments about the hack, so here goes:
Just finished it on Easy, 12:35, 86%, 3 Lores found, didn't save animals. My first inclination was to dislike the hack, since the general layout was very similar to the original game, but it grew on me after a while. I couldn't care less about the "story" but the environments were so incredibly well designed that I have to applaud you for them.
My one major gripe is that it is apparently impossible to get back into the upper area of the wrecked ship. This wouldn't be a huge problem, except that there is absolutely no indication that this is so. I must have spent a good three hours looking for another entrance, eager to explore areas I passed by since I assumed, like any normal metroid player would, that "I can always come back later to explore the rest". Finally growing frustrated, I surfed this topic looking for info on how to get back in, only to finally find someone about 20 pages in saying it was impossible. For an otherwise amazing hack, this is just plain mean, and I really can't understand why you'd do that. I like exploring every nook and cranny, and to arbitrarily deny me that because I happened to explore areas in the wrong order really annoys me.
Other than that, I loved the hack. I'm tempted to try it on hard, but I'm terrible at bomb jumping, and quite poor at mock/speed ball. Should I even bother trying? I refuse to use any sort of speed manipulation to beat the game, so if it's going to be so hard that I'd be forced to do it, I'd rather just not make the initial effort.
Anyway, thanks for making such a great hack! I hope to see more work from you in the future.

Thanks for playing/enjoying cliffhanger! That whole issue with upper WS being a one time thing did have a reason. It was because I destroyed the second state of the large room, thus ruining ever going back there after you defeat phantoon. I'm sorry it had to be that way, but in the end it gave me the idea to make WS bigger.

Cool, so long as there was a reason, and it wasn't just to make me waste time looking for something that wasn't there. May I suggest putting some kind of warning somewhere telling people it's impossible? Since I saw a lot of people in the topic asking the same thing, I would imagine I wasn't the only one who got frustrated by this. Considering it is rather unique to have a one-time area (and one as large as that area was), I am sure many people, like myself, did not even consider the fact that it was impossible to return.
And, looking at the video of the hard version, much of that stuff doesn't seem to be beyond my abilities. I'm rather good at wall jumping, at the very least. However, I didn't see much stuff involving bomb jumping. Am I going to have to do stuff like precisely controlled infinite or horizontal bomb jumping? I hate bomb jumping with an undying passion, so if there's a lot of it I don't think I'm going to bother.
Once again, thanks for the hack, and for the quick reply to my questions.
My only indication that the place was shut down for good was that gray door. I also made sure you can't miss any items forever. The etank under the bridge shows up somewhere else if you didn't grab it. Shame you can only get the Eldridge lore once though..

If you can do IBJ, then you don't need HBJ. However, there is one part where you have to precisely control an IBJ up a shaft with flashing water; "not fun" is a phrase that comes immediately to mind.
