Acheron86, what will you do when you're feeling better and without a fever, then discover it wasn't a fevered dream of you posting a savestate of your upcoming hack?? :P
Lol nice one Acheron. You were joking, right? Just checking. I'm also posting this right before I download it and try it out.
2 minutes later: Okay, I tried it out. It crashed on me twice, both times when I went down below that cactus guy (can't remember the name of it at the moment, sorry!) and came back up, and also, when I went into the map, looked at the item screen, and exited back to the main screen, the graphics went all weird, then it crashed before I could get a screenshot, sorry. It basically started using the tiles from the item text, from on the item screen. Btw, how did you put that cactus in there without it being destroyable, and without it hurting you? Is it just supposed to be a background thing? Overall, I like what you've done. Oh, and you might want to fix the suits a bit - I like the new coloring that you did!
Ok. Were those issues in the hack, or just the savestate? Maybe it reloads the original tilesets after the map... Who knows (except for you and Jathys, of course). Was the suit like that, or was that, too, just a savestate issue? Just curious - I haven't seen many hacks by savestates, so I don't know.
I notice after using the savestate, sometimes if you go down the shaft, the emulator suddenly turns itself off. Maybe soft patching a savestate of a hack with Super Metroid instead of soft (or hard) patching the .ips with Super Metroid has compatibility problems?? That's my guess.... Regardless, thanks for the small taste of Aegis!! 8-)

Wait, what? Soft patching has nothing to do with savestates; it merely stores the entire RAM set present when the user made the savestate. Any consistency checks against the ROM are made entirely by the rom, like movement controls and such. I'm guessing ZSNES runs its own consistency check, and that's why it quits. Close up there, Acheron, but no cigar. It's not the savestate that causes the quitting, if anything.

Yes, the consistancy checks checks with the present rom used and the savestate stores the present RAM when the user made the state. Therefore, unless we have the patched game, there will be problems, such as emulator quits, not being able to explore areas in different rooms (I tried), graphical errors, etc. I don't blame the emulator or the maker of Aegis or the patched game itself, but I do blame the fact we're using a savestate of a hack that we do not yet have. I bet when Aegis gets released, the savestates Acheron86 just gave us will have few if no problems at all. :-) (no offense, Acheron86)
I don't especially like the new gray block in the cre. Way too distracting, IMO. This also depends on the way you will use it though. Same with the new cre brick tiles, but I'm assuming you are only using that in the central subverda area.
Don't worry, they're only used appropriately, mostly in Central Subverda.
I have got a lot of hacking done in the last week, I'm actually running out of rooms at this point... not that I can't add them if I need to, but that's a good sign, right?
I realized keeping the numbers wasn't very accurate, since I keep adding more and more to existing areas even after I think I'm done (example: Glacia got five new rooms this week).
Acheron, I was wondering how long it'll take for everyone to have utilised every anagram of your name?
Now that you're a moderator too, I guess 'No Reach' is no longer valid.
On topic: Have any of the basic environments deviated from their original descriptions in your first post, or have they stayed true to your original plans? Just curious. :)
Maybe he doesn't want it too easily read. (Maybe he doesn't want it too easily read.)
Effort can tend to throw off the lazy people, so yeah. I wouldn't bother to open up a Notepad and copy it or quote a post so I can read stuff that's unimportant enough to deserve small text, which this definitely falls under the category of.
I would say 'ok, back on topic now!', except that we don't have any new content to discuss, for the most part. Zhs2, your birthday's tomorrow? Congrats!
So, Acheron, which sections of the music do you have done? I noticed that Quietus said you have 10%. Is that individual songs done, or several of them having parts completed? Also, what areas of the game are you planning on using them for?
I did? But how did I knoooow?? I only knew Acheron is 10% done because in the beta he sent me I counted 10 songs in total, but only one was new, so I did some whizzy maths, and boom! Robert is your mother's brother!
However, I did ask a different question that Acheron cruelly, deliberately ignored. :P [/manic depressive voice]
N.B. If anybody takes paragraph two seriously, and particularly if they reply to it in all seriousness, I hereby grant full permission to tomatobob to sarcasmify them...forever!
I would've mentioned if I'd changed the basic design of the game. The youtubes are still more or less accurate (I'm always making minor changes, though).
I'm sure I've stated this elsewhere, but music is the last thing I'm going to hack, simply because there's no need to beta test it. I can go beta when level design is done, then work on music while my testers play.
