I'm curious how the music is coming along myself but Acheron86 has posted three teasers on this thread:

The first is on the first page on this thread, the second I forget which page it's on, and the last is on page 27 of this thread.  Enjoy!!

Crazy. I almost cried like a little kid today in science class.

Anywho, so what's the latest news? Making it better than before?

No news, dudes. I'm dry on room ideas right now and taking a break which will be roughly the length of Tales of Vesperia. *cough cough*
Ironic, i'm just now finishing Tales of Vesperia (my first playthrough, anyway)

Make sure you consult a guide if you don't want to miss a ton of side quests.

Back on topic though, i'm also disappointed the release is going to take longer.  Rolling Eyes

Sorry, I know it's not good news, but it's not like I'm totally not working on it, just nothing to report of significance. :(

There are two unreleased hacks I'm looking forward to the most, one metroid related and the other not metroid related:

Super Metroid Aegis and Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes

I'm wondering which will be released first after all the setbacks, postponements (personal or otherwise), etc.  I'd still bet on Aegis.  grin new

More to the subject now, there's something I'm wondering about:  We know we can open a rom with SMILE, and Super Metroid has three saves we can load a game in progress with.  With this knowledge, is it possible to have Aegis in the first loadable game and have a minihack on the other two loadable games??  Just a curiosity and thought....

Uhh. Kind of? Not on console. With soft-patching and renaming files you could make that work, but assuming you have different ROMs for different hacks, they're going to also have different .srm files (the save files). Not worth the bother, IMO.

Aegis has had its share of setbacks. Honestly I regret announcing it when I did. Every time I think I'm almost done I find there's a whole bevvy of things I want to do... I've at times been tempted to scrap the whole project and start over a la Redesign. I won't do that, but I'm holding myself to very high standards. Working on some new redone tilesets for Radia/Sewers areas right now actually, to give you all an idea of what I'm up to.
Don't worry about the speed in which the hack is done, you don't have a deadline, just make sure you like it and its up to your standards ;D

Or you could just check all of your 250+ backups and extra files, and retrace your steps on mistakes.

Fair enough, thanks. What do you think is the most fun part of making this hack?

Well, I don't think Aegis is so bad it's not worth working on, I just get frustrated with my earlier incompetence with SMILE and lower standards for tileset/level design. So I won't scrap it, just need to really re-haul stuff.

I guess I like that people are looking forward to the hack more than anything else. That and the idea of Cpawesome TASing my hack, those two thoughts are very motivating. Besides that, running around in a room after adding a new tileset is a cool feeling.
You don't know how anxious(sp?) i get to test all these hacks, right now i can't wait for this one, and Volta >_<
Am I the only one that isn't marking their calendars until new hacks debut? Sure, I'm looking forward to a good hack, but I'm not saying "DUDE I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS HACK I'M DYING!!!!!!!!!"

Maybe I've just played Super Metroid too much. On topic, are you still working on level designs? I remember a few pages back you said you were almost finished & only working on music.

:( u no liek me hax y :( :( :(

I'm glad so many people are looking forward to the project, and I'm not going to stop anyone who has extra zeal, it's a big encouragement for me.

Level design is part of the big holdup. I've had some valuable constructive criticism from my alpha testers and the #jzd fellas, and it made me realize I could do a lot better, so I'm re-hauling a lot of rooms. I'll put a couple pictures up when I get the time to show you the "before and after" deal.

I wasn't aware you were planning on running this. Now I'm even more motivated!
Quote from Sneaky Paradox:
...I may speed run this xD. I don't know, from what you tell us, it sounds very ideal for a unassisted speed run. But low% Soup comes first.

You said "may" and I know you've said you were going to speedrun other things, I tend not to assume, I still expect Cpadolf to be all like "nah dude your hack sucks I don't wanna do it now" :P
Hahaha. I'm gonna need something to do when I'm done with Soup. Kinda planning a Pokémon sapphite run because a friend asked. I'm so gonna stall it if this comes out while I'm in the middle of it.

When i read about this hack, i actually took a break from playin SM and went on to different things (final fantasy, etc.) you know to build the anticipation. Now, since its been like 3 months since ive last played any kind of metroid i think i need to warm up....cuz i got that gut feeling the release of Aegis is gonna catch me offguard so...Onward to ZERO MISSION :-D

I've still got a ways to go yet on this project. Did some amateur ASMing tonight with much help from Kejardon. Now the ice beam doesn't conflict with the
heat beam
so that's nice. Still need to make them work right when they're picked up initially, but that won't be too hard.

The really good news is that I've figured out how to implement the
light visor
properly. So I know I haven't got much done in way of level design, but ASM stuff is coming along.

Also, I have a new alpha tester and he's very helpful when he isn't high. I sure wish he would go get grapple and gravity.
Almost happy
Well ASM stuff is generally more interesting than level design stuff anyway, so that's good news to me :-)
